During the Kyoto Prototol in 2005, China and India were haled as examplars of environmental responsibility, and western countries like Canada and the U.S. were demonized.
The fact that the protocol contained no binding conditions for China and India, and all forecasts showed their CO2 emissions soaring over the next few decades, making the efforts of countries like Canada utterly irrelevant, were dismissed.
