Faster Please

And lets add coal to the list.

The Telegraph- Fracking ban lifted as Truss says shale gas could flow in six months

Under plans to make Britain energy independent again by 2040, the Prime Minister pledged to strengthen supplies with more domestic oil and gas extraction alongside the development of nuclear and renewable power schemes. She said this would see the moratorium on fracking – in place since 2019 – scrapped with immediate effect, paving the way for developers to begin extraction in as little as six months in areas “where there is local support”. From next week, the Government will also make more than 100 new licences for oil and gas extraction in the North Sea available.

  1. What’s the guess as to how long she is “allowed” to be PM? Can’t have someone in there who maybe gives a crap about the little folk.

    1. Harper made it ten years. Getting the big details right matters. Energy along with food are the two biggest. I’d say PM Truss has at least made it out of the gate with her arse still pointing towards it. Check back in six months to see if the new PM has been able to keep it pointed that way with her country sanely moving forward.

      1. They got to BoJo quickly, he had the spine of an earwig.

Not ready to judge Truss yet, aside from her Russian delusions, but the track record of British PMs for the last 2 decades is poor, in regards to leftist policy, no matter the party. If she caved to the environutters, it would not be a surprise, spines have been bred out of the Brits since the 90s.

        1. No one ‘got’ to BoJo he was just a clown and moreso a leftist. He was useful for two things: Brexit and free(er) trade. He was no longer useful and is now where he belongs: on the way out.

  2. So very odd that the green energy psychopaths were able to do their inside trading out in the open.. I suppose it was their social responsibility to enrich themselves..

  3. Just they haven’t started yet…nor issued districts…nor calculated time and distance to move fuels…nor even governments and districts approval and subject to stop work order should any artifacts being found.
Not to mention the automatic lawsuits slapped down for anything environmental…
    Yup, six months, eh?

  4. Great news. Also happy that it will take at least six months, in that the British people will have to endure shortages, sky high energy prices, cold houses, and general deprivation in the interim. This way maybe the people will learn their lesson and come to realize that Greta is the Antichrist and those in government that take her orders are her foot soldiers.

    1. Her marketing team did a bang up job convincing the world she’s anything but a dimwitted and sourfaced little ghoul.

    2. I wonder if they still have those old style lamposts over there. Useful appliances when the people start freezing..

    1. The stupidity is the result of years of selling them the fear porn of the imminent fatal unwinding of the environments ability to continue to sustain life because reasons. The actual destruction of the developed systems that first world societies rely on is being accomplished by people who are pretending to be that stupid or actually are that stupid, after being foisted on us by corrupted elections. Biden being the worst and most obvious. But seriously,
Stupidity stops being cover for sabotage at some point.

  5. In other words hitting yourself on the head with a hammer is a bad idea even if some mentally retarded Swedish high school dropout says that it will save the planet.

I’m glad that they finally realized that.

  6. 6 months eh…LOL.

Not happening period. Beauracarcy alone will stretch that, let alone actual drilling, fracking, and pipeline – facility construction…all of which will be harassed by Extinction Rebellion imbeciles.

    I’m betting 2 yrs..

    1. I’m betting that all the big players look at it and say no thanks to burning a ton of money to never make a profit at it.

There was one fracking site in 2011, and it hasn’t produced gas yet.
there are at least 3 different and probably overlapping “charities” opposed to fracking, who will be fighting the government and any potential frackers along the way.
there likely isn’t any equipment available to do it right now
there isn’t anyone skilled at doing it in the UK.

and the government can’t even deal with the lunatics gluing themselves to the road with petrochemical glues effectively.

  7. Can’t say if the gas will be actually flowing in 6 months or “maybe” 2 years, but at least they’ll be able to look back at the winter of 2022-23 as a lesson learned from the Greta brigades.

The Greta brigade will not learn, it’s not part of their DNA any more than it’s part of the NDP/Greens here in Canada.
This lesson may have some legs, which would be nice. It would have been a good lesson for the Canadian east if the pipe running from Michigan to Ontario had been stopped for 1 winter too.

    1. Someone should pull the plug on the diesel generators the next time Greta stands up to complain.

    2. The Greta Brigades may not learn…but the folks who will lose loved ones to freezing temperatures won’t forget. Let’s see if the English will “begin to hate”.

  8. We could all maybe handle the energy-source deprivation the elites want us peasants to get used to. It’s the food-deprivation-then-starvation phases of the Great Reset and the Socialist Revolution that I’m most dreading. People do horrible things to other people when they’re starving.
The elites have been demonizing and regulating the use of fertalizer way too much; the same for meat production.

    1. People do horrible things to other people when they’re starving.

You’d think the elites would know that…

      1. Stateless, Yeah they learned it from the French revolution, and I doubt they have forgotten. This time they think it will be different, because they have laid down careful plans. As in the military, the plans are perfect until they engage with the enemy, then all hell breaks loose. When people are hungry and destitute, the thin veneer of civilization will be torn away, and survival will be a free for all, dog eat dog world. I sincerely hope there are people making a list of who to blame, so they will know what position to place them in the line up for their execution. We can have the trials afterwards!

  9. “…where there is local support…”. Previously this was one of the biggest problems with getting fracking going in UK. Perhaps a chilly winter will change some minds though.

  10. It looks like the adults have regained control of the toy box. They must be sensing the harsh upcoming reality of not having energy in the year 2023.

  11. Rumor has it that she is indeed an alumni of the WEF. I also respect Mr Farage’s opinion, but just like the turd who’s big on grand announcements and not much substance, Truss may be the same, or perhaps she’s aware that all the environmental studies and permitting will take a lot longer than six months, later she can whine and say well I tried, but we still don’t have all the details ironed out. She can lead em down the garden path for at least a year or two, just like Boris. Promises, promises, and promises. Watch what they do, not what they promise, and always,
FOLLOW THE MONEY! Also, a lot of the so called elite are residing in that city within a city, the one square mile of central hoi poloi “Whitehall” London, they’ll be watching her, perhaps even guiding her where they want her to go. If she’s not corrupt now, she will be shortly.

    1. You have it backward. The “hoi polloi” are the masses, the common people, not the aristocratic riff-raff of Whitehall.

As to environmental studies, you can if you wish set all that aside as a government. Parliament can pass laws simply suspending or canceling the application of laws, or amending them entirely or revoking them. That’s the real test for Britain: will the government bulldoze down enough of the regulatory apparatus to allow speedy decision-making?

But your admonition of “watch what they do” is entirely correct.

  12. The fracking was stopped after a series of micro earth tremors, the strongest of which was 2.9 on the richter scale. It was estimated that fracking doubled the amount of tremors that England otherwise experiences. Some years back my side street was a detour from the main street. There also was a small patch of gravel where a water line repair had been done. Given the description of what a 3.0 earth tremor feel like, the heavy trucks that diverted over that patch caused tremors closer to 4.0 in my house based on rattling of windows/doors and loose items. (To the cities credit, they immediately asphalted that section after I complained, which gave some improvement)

  13. L – In the Britain Pre-Charles III, it would only take a word from Queen Elizabeth II to advise
the Commoners to retain their British stiff upper lip, perseverance and commitment to civil
behaviour in the face of difficult times. Perhaps, a reference to the Glorious Revolution of
1688, where no violence was required, would be added for good measure.

In her absence from the scene, I suspect the patience of the Commoners, to see progress for solving a crisis the government created, will be…limited. The Tower of London could be the
new residence for a government, for whom, the consent of the governed is withdrawn.

As the Cabinet stands to sing “God Save The King”, they’ll be thinking “God Save Us All”.
