  6. Son of a Preacher Man … one of the GREATEST female vocals of all time. Sung in good ‘ol girl Southern Style by a BRITISH singer! And Dusty just effortlessly sings an almost spoken-word style of storytelling, but the nuance in her notes and tones make me just hang on her every word.

    I admire Quentin Tarantino’s quirky nostalgic musical ear and interest. He knew this song just HAD to be the backdrop for the deliciously suggestive scene of Vincent picking up Mia for their dangerous date.

    I’m struck by the devolution of female vocalists. Women singers today seem to be judged by how loud they can scream a high note that makes me want to cover my ears and flee the theatre … whereas the velvety texture of Dusty’s vocals just pull you in and fill you with a warm comfortable feeling. She can hit the high note … but is so wisely controlled about it. Love this tune of hers

    1. God, I hate modern pop tarts. Really despise them. There’s still some great girl singers out there but they don’t get near the attention they deserve compared to the mostly naked autotuned set.

  13. Anyone else think it’s odd that BA has disappeared. I tried to post a comment on this yesterday and it was blocked. Very weird. I also think that blocked posts are never reviewed. My postings are never offensive or rude, or heavy with links, but once blocked, they never show up. I think the moderation feature on SDA needs some refinement.

      1. VOWG got mad about being censored and announced he was leaving. I think he may have over reacted. Not sure about B A, but he was such an active participant that his absence leaves a gap.
