Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Re: the smoke curtains, some of the solutions they came up with back then with what they had to work with might impress me more than the current technology in many areas, military included.
It’s an awesome video but I couldn’t help wondering how you attack the other side. They can’t see you and you can’t see them.
It’s a defensive measure.
You find yourself at a disadvantage and would prefer that the enemy is not able to shoot accurately while you manoeuvre out of range or to a mare advantageous position.
Also, if you have aircraft with which to drop smoke, , they are also able to report to you what the enemy is doing, and correct your gunnery. Aerial deployment is the innovation, here. Using smoke to obscure the enemy’s vision was adopted very shortly after the adoption of steam-power for naval vessels.
