August 1, 2022: Reader Tips

Most people have likely heard of Route 66 or the Pacific Coast Highway but there’s a beautiful road in the middle of America called the Natchez Trace Parkway that literally transports one back to the origins of America before there were steam-powered boats. Here’s a nice documentary about it. Here’s another featuring narration by Amy Grant.

Your road-trip focused or other tips are mightily appreciated!

Bonus: Kim Iversen has kept her reputation. Fauci is a coward.

    1. Reduction in fertilizer use could devastate Canada’s economy

That’s the whole idea. We should never have laughed at Maggie the Knickerless…..

        1. There’s only one Maggie for Prinz Dummkopf….. He was still wet behind the ears when the Iron Lady departed politics, so she wouldn’t have mattered to him.

          1. BAD – That Maggie never entered my mind. She tried to out do Mary mother of Jesus by having two children born on Christmas day. Now, one of those Messiahs is turning out to be a bit of a false prophet.

          2. I don’t think it was entirely her choice, if she had anything to say about it. I’m sure the man she was married to at the time wanted to make a point.

  1. L – Having to lock up tins of SPAM and tuna, sounds closer to The Depression than a recession.

Spam in a box: NYC store locks up food to prevent theft

Robberies are up nearly 40 percent in NYC and the Port Authority Duane Reade has had to lock up many foodstuffs, including Spam, ham, and tuna.

It’s not all bad news out there… “I’ll have a pound of al-Zawahri, please.”

“Ayman al-Zawahri, who took over the leadership of the group after the death of Osama bin Laden,
was killed in the strike carried out by the CIA with an RX9, a hellfire missile armed with long blades
aimed at killing targets with kinetic energy
        to minimize major collateral damage.”

        Rest in pieces, Ayman.

  2. These Are My People.
It being the week of my father’s birthday (he’s had them regularly since 1929), I’m once again making the trek from Wyoming to North Carolina. And back.

Its a brilliant time of year for a journey across America’s corn country. Ethanol fodder as far as the eye can see. If we’d stop farming for fuel, we’d easily feed the entire planet. Some nitrogen required.

Sadly, the pandemic of pinwheel prairie plague continues to grow.

    1. Speaking of crops, on my way from Edmonton to Fort St. John yesterday, the canola fields I passed by were looking food. The grain fields are starting to ripen as well.

It looks like there’ll be a good harvest this year if the weather holds out for the next few weeks.

      1. Neighbour is involved in feedlots and mentioned a couple of weeks back that the crops looked ready to put to silage. Good to hear we could have a decent harvest. Many years back (’02 or ’03) travelled with offspring to pick up texts at the vet college in Saskatoon (offspring studying elsewhere) and we came back through a drought-stricken countryside. Still remember turning a corner and seeing a field of small dead wheat stalks. Never want to see that again.

    2. Happy Birthday to your dad. It’s the week of my Dad’s birthday also but – sadly – he died far too young. Still envision him and my mother-in-law (who died even younger) sitting together on a cloud and enjoying watching us coping with brats and – now – grandbrats. They’ve been joined by Mum so can just imagine the conversations.

  3. Definition time:Tyranny- cruel, unreasonable or arbitrary use of power or control. While some here claim Canada is not one ,I thought I would share the definition before it is changed and they are correct.

    1. I like:

  4. 101 from Astoria to San Francisco is something else. We here on the west coast of Canada try not to tell people about the Oregon coast because it’s end our tourist industry. From sand dunes to desert areas around crater lake it’s pretty amazing.

    1. Several years ago, i drove around Oregon, with my amazing son. Crater Lake is really neat. We got to the north east corner and were about head west to the coast. My son was checking out a map of Oregon, and shouted, “stop the car”. I said why, he said, Look, it the middle of Oregon, is a town called BORING. We have to check it out; so we did. I took some great photos. He especially like the sign that said “BORING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. (he was in elementary school at the time.)

      1. The favourite place I’ve been is Humptulips, Washington. Because Wendover, Nevada has the first casinos coming from Utah, I’ve always mispronounced it Bendover.

        1. I thought it was Sunday…

          Lol

          My last day of vacation…

          Came a day early…

          Oh well…

It was great while it lasted…

          Back to the insane asylum…

  5. You need to do a story on the ‘Colossal Flop’ of the Pope’s Visit to Canada in a multitude of avenues…
    It just made things worse.
Far better if he’d ignored everything and went on his way.
Even Trudeau was being shunned by some of the Chiefs at these events with the Pope.
I have never seen a Pope destroy Christianity like this one has in his short term of leadership.

    1. Not so short, unfortunately. He’s been sitting in the big chair for nearly a decade. That’s far FAR TOO LONG for my liking. The good news is that the pontiff has been dropping hints about retiring “due to his health.” I don’t wish the man ill will, and I pray that he sticks around long enough to embrace redemption, but I want him out of the Vatican toot de suite!

      1. You’re a far better Catholic than I. I want the pope to eat shite, dirt, and rock salt.

    2. The present day Pope is a self admitted, filthy, card carrying communist who prays everyday to his Gods,Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin.

Where is Mehmet Ali Ağca when we need him?

  6. I have traveled the Natchez Trace Parkway a few times, it is an extremely relaxing drive, from just outside of Nashville Tn all the way to Natchez, Ms. There is only one fuel stop on the Trace so you’ll have to exit into one of the retro-towns to fuel and eat, we have stayed in Tupelo Ms and Tishomingo State in Mississippi in 30’s era field stone cabins along the way. Speed limit is 50 mph and absolutely no commercial traffic allowed, not even a U-Haul trailer. If you’re head south starting at the northern end you can get a good meal at the Loveless Café before you go, it’s been a famed celebrity stop since 1951.
Last time we were on it we were heading to New Orleans in our 1964 Studebaker Wagonaire….anxious to do it again.

    1. Here in Sodom on the Rideau, it’s called Colonel By day. Yay for the colonel. By, now.

      here’s a read for a “no election fraud fool”https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/07/elections-assistance-commission-aware-machines-hacked-minutes/

      1. This is Gateway Pundit feeding slop to the usual weakminded crowd. I love how they add their own flawed analysis that doesn’t hold up to every image.

  7. L – Let me correct that headline for you:
“Prime Minister spent the majority of last month. with his head in the clouds”
    ——————————————————————————————————————————–
Prime minister spent all but 11 days last month in the air

Flight data shows Prime Minister Trudeau flew 26,238 km. aboard CANFORCE ONE last month, compared to just 26,059 km. flown between June 1 and Aug. 31 2021

    https://torontosun.com/news/canada/prime-minister-spent-all-but-11-days-last-month-in-the-air

    1. “Prime Minister spent the majority of last month. with his head in the clouds”

He spends all his time with his head up his, well, you know….. If rectal spelunking was an Olympic sport, he’d be a gold medal winner.

    1. I noticed that the University of California at San Diego operates a “White Allyship, Action, and Accountability” program. Is it accidental that the initials spell “WAAA”?

  8. Those of you that think “decertification” is a real thing, read this from Gohmert v Pence in the Plaintiffs application for emergency injunction:

“Moreover, if the counting of votes proceeds under the Electoral Count Act, Plaintiffs’ votes will be adjudicated via an unconstitutional procedure, which also qualifies as irreparable harm: there will be no opportunity to revisit the issue. As with standing for procedural injuries, irreparable harm from a procedural violation requires an underlying concrete injury or due-process interest, which Plaintiffs have and which will be irretrievably lost if the Vice President proceeds under the Electoral Count Act. Under the circumstances, Plaintiffs’ procedural harms also are irreparable. ”

There be no opportunity to revisit the issue. In other words, the safe harbor date and Jan 6 are one way streets. No do overs.

  9. Further to my comment about the price of diesel fuel, I was driving through a part of Fort St. John earlier today and noticed that it was $2.04/litre at a Shell. Yesterday morning, I paid $1.64 in Edmonton at a SuperStore/Mobil.
