A nation of glitches

Well, hey, I guess its worth it if it keeps us all safe, right?

Crouch is quadruple vaccinated, has not tested positive for COVID-19 and is showing no symptoms. The border guard who waved him back into Canada last week said nothing about getting a COVID test, or quarantine, but when he got home he found an email and a notification in his ArriveCan app, telling him to stay home for two weeks.

“It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy when Minister Mendicino says ArriveCan will reduce border delays. But it will not be due to technology, it will be due to reduced volume.”

  1. As Lucien Bouchard famously said, Canada is not a real country.

  2. This is what happens when you use quantum qubits in your computer instead of binary bits.

    1. “Hello, Mr. Prime Minister? We need your quantum computing skills right now……”

  3. Good thing he was double-vaccinated and double-boosted or he would have to quarantine for two months.

  4. You read how governments are hoping to reinstall lock-downs yet there is very little interest from the public. It seems real this time. People have other things to worry about such as how will I heat my home during the winter, where will my food come from, how do I pay for gas for my car? Nothing like a famine to remind people they wanted to lose weight anyway.

  5. I keep hearing these horror stories of ArriveCan and yet know many people personally who have come and gone without issue whatsoever not using the app. I have to assume that this is yet another media situation where extremes of both sides are getting publicity while the reality is a lot less exciting. We see video of people being “Harassed” at airports but those videos lack context to how the escalation took place. Do we have loudmouths on the planes or people picking a fight rather than those who quietly slide through blending in and walking with confident determination. I feel like most people who have their cameras at the ready are likely to be called out more than those who traveled tech free (or at least turned off and buried). And those who cry about being “put” into “quarantine” but no one has boarded up your doors and why the heck would you ever give your personal address out to begin with? Provide a contact number… Don’t have a cell phone. Provide an email… either don’t have one or just keep a BS one that you never check. Last I recall no one was ever legally bound to checking email or answering their phone. You want to find me then call the local 7-11 and maybe they can help you out. Come to my house I won’t answer the door for people I know never mind ones I don’t (amazon can leave the package at the door thanks). So what is reality? I have friends and family flying throughout the “pandemic” that have hardly had a second look and there is no damn way they are just that lucky to have managed a cumulative 32 flights in the past year without much of a glance.

      1. No not vaccinated at all. True-bloods who just ignored questions and walked through. Once was asked about Arrivecan so he was given a form which he then gave back blank and again no questions asked. Not once were they asked if they had a vaccine, not once required to show proof of such. Did have a few random swabs taken on arrival and once given a home test kit. At one point we did note a public health official on our security cameras but this was related to a school reported outbreak, not travel. We don’t answer the door for people we know never mind ones we don’t.
