Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fired the head of the country’s security service and its prosecutor general on Sunday, citing hundreds of criminal proceedings into treason and collaboration by people within their departments.
“In particular, more than 60 employees of the prosecutor’s office and the [Security Service of Ukraine] have remained in the occupied territory and work against our state,” Zelenskyy said.
“Such an array of crimes against the foundations of the state’s national security, and the links recorded between Ukrainian security forces and Russian special services raise very serious questions about their respective leaders,” he said.
He also dismissed Ivan Bakanov, the head of Ukraine’s security service, the SBU. Bakanov was a long-time friend of Zelenskyy’s, according to Ukrainian news agencies.

The only way to explain the disaster that was russia’s opening moves in the north is that they have planned on a quick assassination of Zelensky and on filling in the power vacuum. That is why what looked like a completely unprepared operation was launched.
That would also explain the uncertain and shaky behavior of several Ukrainian oligarchs with ties to Kremlin and the presence of French special forces providing additional security for Zelensky. Something happened, behind the scenes, during those days that we don’t know about.

There were rumors and reports of both GRU Spetnaz and Chechnyan hit teams getting into firefights with police and army troops in Kiev in the first few days. Never heard of any details after the first reports. Maybe those stories were confused with the reports of the airborne and Spetnaz troops trying to seize the airfields around Kiev to develop airheads to overrun Kiev.

There’s a lot of open speculation that the FSB was penetrated by Ukraine. That’s why Zelensky was always a step ahead. That’s also why higher ups in the FSB were placed in house arrest in March
