Y2Kyoto: I’ll Miss The Polar Ice Caps

Let’s check in on our planetary doomsday clock.

Despite rhetoric to the contrary, there is still plenty of sea ice over Arctic regions this summer, supplying feeding platforms for polar bears, ice-dependent seals, and walrus cows nursing their young calves. Forget about whether the numbers are below or above some short-term average, there is no catastrophe in the making for marine mammals in the Arctic at this time. […]

This post is predominantly sea ice charts for mid-July, what we in the science field call observational evidence, aka ‘facts’. Keep in mind that satellites used to produce these images have an especially hard time distinguishing ice topped with melt water from open water, which means much more ice useful to these marine mammals is almost certainly present than is shown in the charts (as much as 20% more in some regions).

  1. I spent 10 years following this and other climate scams, reading at Anthony Watt’s site: https://wattsupwiththat.com/

I stopped reading there, because I’d concluded that the entire exercise- global warming climate change, et al, was the biggest “scientific” hoax in history.

Then along came Covid, which said “hold my beer.”

    1. With our planet moving away from the Sun, it’s only source of Energy, it gets colder.
Our politicians paid experts will always be incorrect.

Funny how our daily records of record warm and cold hasn’t changed much in our politicians ‘climate emergency’.
Hold my Beer Mr Prime Minister…

    1. BC had the coolest spring. Here in Vancouver it’s cold at night. No need for a/c or fans.

  2. I know someone who’s up in Churchill right now. The other day there was all sorts of ice that blew up on the beach.

    1. ice that blew up on the beach

Exploding ice in Churchill? Betcha Algore didn’t foresee that.

  3. I worked in the Arctic for almost 20 years.
I rarely saw temperatures colder than -40C, the worst I saw was about -43C.
    In 2020 we saw -53C.
All sorts of stuff that we could get working in -40 wouldn’t work at -50.

Oh, wait, cold is weather, hot is climate.

  4. Not A Newsflash: a shit ton of Canada is rising every year by measurable millimeters because of the retreat of the ice sheets.

When a Climate Emergency Nutjob Asshole can splain to me why ice 1000’s of meters thick and millions of square kilometers in area has melted and damn quickly – millennia before peoplekind started burning anything more than wood, dung and their farts – then I’ll listen to their doomsday crap.
Just kidding, I’ll tell them to STFU. Their science is as fake as their news.
Ice ages and interglacial periods have been going on for millions of years. Protest that Thunberg you stupid git.

    1. I like to point to the Viking ruins in Greenland that have recently been exposed by the retreating ice.

  5. The only way to save the planet is to remove the air conditioning systems from all government buildings, starting with the CBC offices and studios.
