July 1, 2022: Reader Tips

Though Canada is suffering through a tumultuous time these days with an aspiring dictator at the helm, we can all envision much better times in the past and hopefully a brighter future.  To that end, we present One Week, a 2008 movie filmed and actually set in Canada.

Also, here’s an NFB film focused on the turbulent summer of 1967.

Please do share how you and your loved ones plan to spend Canada Day.

As a special bonus, here a song from Greg Arcade called The Ballad of James Topp:

James, THANK YOU and your entire crew for this incredible march that you’ve done from Vancouver to Ottawa. It’s historical and hopefully will eventually help in restoring Canada to the once free country it was, but is no longer.

  1. In the last few minutes of Jordan Peterson’s appearance at the Ryman Theater in Nashville Wednesday night, he had some very interesting things to say about Canada, Trudeau, and his own exit plan from his no longer free native land:

      1. Get your money out of Canada.

        Liberals are Communists.

He alleges to have found actual Conservatives to help him fight back.

Everyone should graffiti their local news propaganda outfit.

He may not have mentioned the latter.

    1. I watched the closing minutes. I think Peterson’s optimistic if he thinks that Prinz Dummkopf won’t last 3 years unless, maybe, HRH’s keepers have grown tired of him by then.

      1. Sadly, I agree. I suspect that Trudeau will last until at least 2030, and maybe even longer. Canada is doomed unless Canadians wake up. But there are too many brain-dead NPCs that are allowed to vote and do so according to their programming.

        1. Yeah, like the alleged brain alive conservative faction is giving them any choice.

Funny, for a bunch of dummies, the Liberals sure kick Conservative ass on a regular basis.

Hell, you need an Adscam just to win a minority.

          Then, outLiberal the Liberals.

          Stupid Party, Washington Generals, Uniparty…….

          Come on Charlie…….kick the ball.

          Ok, Lucy.

      1. Nice try at deflection from yet another Siberian Mongol embarrassment.

What narrative is that? That Pootin is blocking Ukrainian grain exports thus potentially leading to famines? Would not be a fist time Kremlin has done it.

        1. and alla colon love Uke nazis, did the ghost of kyiv take part in that operation?

    1. When you can’t hold an island 170 miles from homeport against an enemy with an airforce in the dozens and a navy that barely exists, you suck.

  2. I mentioned last night that I have a number of spaghetti westerns in my movie queue.

Earlier, I watched Django with Franco Nero in the title role:

It appears that the lone nameless stranger is a common theme in that genre, so Eastwood wasn’t the only one to play such a character. At about the same time, there was A Stranger in Town, which resulted in 2 sequels. (TCM showed them several years ago.) I’m sure there were others like those that were produced.

It’s OK, but it appears to have borrowed some plot devices from A Fistful of Dollars or, maybe, it was the other way around.

The story I heard about this movie is that it inspired Quentin Tarantino to make his movie. It also inspired a number of sequels, most, I’ve gathered, featuring Terence Hill in the role. Right now, I’m watching Django, Prepare a Coffin:

By the way, if you want to watch an uninterrupted version of the first movie, there’s a URL in the description.

    1. For the most part, I’ve found spaghetti westerns to be entertaining.

However, I started watching one earlier which, frankly, was a stinker and I quit after about 15 minutes. I couldn’t figure out if Crazy Westerners (with Terence Hill) was supposed to be a musical (and a very bad one at that) or if it was meant to be a spoof.

Avoid that one like the plague. There’s a reason why it’s rated less than 5 on IMDB.

  3. What freedoms have been restored to Canadians, since the occupation of Ottawa?

    I’ll make it easy.

    Name one.

    1. I would note how quickly the “science” changed to no longer being forced to wear a mask in most cases.

The mandates will return in the fall because there are no convoys and Justin isn’t hiding like the pu$$y that he is.

      1. Well I feel a lot better now. I don’t like the mandates and see no reason why your always wrong predictions should stop being wrong.

    1. Hey, what’s not to like about pineapple, ham, cheese and tomato sauce on a pizza crust?

      1. Give me a pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms, plus a cold bottle of homebrewed beer on the side, and I’m good.

    2. Hawaiian Pizza is one of the elemental forms of pizza. When the Pizza God first spoke, he spoke in pineapple. He who cares not for Hawaiian Pizza, cares not for pizza. We in this country simply had the heart and the wisdom to see this. Hope you aren’t offended.

  4. Great Moments in Green Government Policy…

“Thousands of tractor-driving Dutch protesters came out this week to continue demonstrations against the government’s radical plan to cut nitrogen emissions by 30% – 70% as part of their ‘green’ agenda.”

“The (Netherlands) Minister of Nature and Nitrogen Policy expects about a third of the 50,000 Dutch farms to ‘disappear’ by 2030,” the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade reported in a June 23 Market Insight Report. The Netherlands is the world’s fifth-largest exporter of food… according to World Bank statistics.”

“Christianne van der Wal, (Dutch) minister of nature and nitrogen policy, has left open the possibility that the government will expropriate land from farmers who do not comply, as reported by NOS Nieuws.”

I guess the lessons of Sri Lanka have yet to land on European shores.

    1. A Dutch Post enforced Starvation campaign of only allowing farmers to utilize pig shit for feetilizer….will DEFINITELY mobilize the population.

At least those that have a modicum of historical understanding.

May that happen: Meathooks in all the Squares..

    1. Complaints about the Freedom Convoy using the flag are narrow minded and petty. The flag stands for democracy and freedom. That is why it was entirely appropriate for many freedom convoy protesters to carry the flag. The whiners are simply displaying intolerance and a level of ignorance. All of these stupid articles from the media are further calling the flag into question as they reinforce questioning the legitimacy of showing our flag. Sadly, there are too many Canadians who are prepared to behave as though they are tolerant and caring UNLESS you have a different political perspective. This attitude- pushed by the media — is indeed destroying the country.

    2. Canadian Tranny Vision has that maple leaf thingy on their site.
      They must be racists.

  5. People who don’t like Canada and it’s history are free to emigrate.

Please emigrate, especially if you can find a place in the world that was free from a warring past.

The only places I can think of are the North and South poles.

    She should run in Canada – she’d be a shoe-in… #SMH

  7. Global News employees should be made to eat their own shit.
    https://globalnews.ca/news/8959365/canada-day-convoy-james-topp-far-right-pierre-poilievre/

‘ One anti-hate expert sounded the alarm about Poilievre’s association with Topp — and the anti-mandate protest itself.
“It’s deeply concerning that a mainstream politician is aligning with and showing support for the movement that birthed the so-called freedom convoy,” Elizabeth Simons, deputy director of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, told Global News in a statement. ‘

    Know your enemy.

    1. Seems to me that the anti-hate expert is perpetuating hate. My guess is Soros funds her particular brand of hate. It’s pretty sad to see all this anti- conservative hate displayed on what is supposed to be a day of celebrating Canadian unity.

    2. Buddy, note that the Trudeau Liberal/NDP government gave $200,000+ to the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, according to Public Accounts records.

      1. That explains things. Another bought and paid for government mouthpiece spreading their own brand of hate.

    3. Apparently there is a longstanding $1 million reward for anyone who has ever seen the term “Far Left” in a Canadian MSM headline.

      1. Your welcome NR…

        The Truth Hurts…

        But…

Better than Living a Evil Lie…

  8. The sociopaths of the South Carolina state senate are considering a bill that would ban minors from travelling out of state for abortion and criminalize press writing about abortion clinics in neighboring states.

    https://reason.com/volokh/2022/06/30/s-c-bill-would-apparently-outlaw-news-sites-writing-about-legal-abortion-clinics-in-neighboring-states/?comments=true#comments

Between this and whose banning books from school libraries, it’s clear to me who the real threat to free speech is in America and it’s not Twitter.

    1. On one hand I don’t like children being murdered, on the other hand this could be your child by some freak accident. not an easy call.

  9. Just been watching CBC news for the past 40 minutes (double tasking on my tablet to remind my sanity), watching the Ceeb covering the propaganda-celebrations this afternoon. One thing is the complete absence of white-male reporters. Lots of Indians being interviewed. Reporter Hannah Thibedeau is interviewing non-white people in the approved crowd, on the right-hand-side split screen. On the left-hand-side screen the CBC is showing Justin Trudeau working the approved crowd.

Now Ms. Thibedeau is asking Trudeau giggly,soft-ball questions, then after he leaves she begins asking approved people what it was like to shake Bong’s hand.

One thing that is striking is the banal phrases being tossed around by government-approved people.

    1. It’s probably not a great state of affairs if I’m hoping the clot shot is going to kill off most Canucks, all of our civil servants and their families who at some point will hunt down our elites.

Aside from the coerced, the rest of them can’t go fast enough. The rebuild will be difficult but the peace and quite will be sweet.

I’m going to love and adore the 6 million or so left.
