Sun- Sunshine Village to reopen for skiing and riding on Canada Day

It’s been more than a month since Sunshine Village celebrated the end of their already-long season with their annual Slush Cup, but the Banff resort has — somewhat miraculously — announced that they’re reopening for Canada Day this week.

That’s something that hasn’t happened since 1991, but a tonne of snow throughout the winter led to conditions on the mountain staying skiable through June, so Sunshine has decided to reopen from June 28 until, hopefully, July 3rd.

  1. Years ago, a former liberal friend told me that extreme cold was further proof of global warming. When it comes to religion facts don’t matter.

    1. Every early snowmelt is ABSOLUTE PROOF of CAGW. Every extended snow and ice season is … just “weather” … apropos of nothing.

  3. Just invited my Los Angeles friend to come up to ski, doesn’t need the Alaskan cruise to feel cool.

  6. That carbon tax is really working. If it keeps going up it’ll cause another ice age.

    1. I’m old enough to remember when another ice age was seriously predicted. Apparently the polar ice cap would split, allowing open water. Said open water would evaporate during the summer and produce much moisture, much of which would descend as snow. Too much snow, and there would be buildup in the Arctic regions which would not melt in a given season and so keep building up. Said snow, would either turn to ice or influence the climate so that there would be increasing snow buildups heading southward.
      Something like that (it was a long time ago). But the message was definitely that we should all look southward for our futures.

    The original story included a line about raising Parks Canada fees. But now it’s updated to say “Parks Canada will incentivize ridership of the train through policy changes.” Curious.

    The backers are asking Parks Canada to make it more expensive for families to drive to enter Banff, thereby forcing families to use their private train service. Silly.

  11. I find it odd.. That the only emission you could tax evenly across the economy so happens to also be the doom gas.. What are the chances of that?.. If CO2 ends up being just plant food the environmentalists are out of luck.. No plan B exists..

    So don’t expect the start of the next ice age to change a thing.. They got their foot in the door and you got another level of government over your head.. Don’t say I didn’t warn you..
