  1. The Atari ST was my first computer. The only personal computer to make “Computer of the Year” twice in Byte Magazine. Amazing capability for the time, but hobbled by a lack of good software. Bill Gates once said that if the ST ever sold a million units he’d release copies of Excel and Word for it (just like he had for the Mac), but even though the ST sales far surpassed that mark, he never did. I actually had an underground beta copy of Excel that ran natively on the ST, supposedly skunk-worked from the boys in Redmond.

    Those were the days.

  2. Full Cost of Energy (FCOE) explains why wind and solar are not cheaper than conventional fuels and in fact become more expensive the higher their penetration in the energy system.

“Germany’s installed power capacity had to double (Figure 2) [ above ]. Consequently, the renewable energy sector grossly underperformed, compared to its investment in real energy terms, and Germany’s electricity prices reached the highest among the G20.”
“Even if the conflict is resolved before the end of 2022, there will still be huge problems in keeping the homes of western Europe heated this coming winter. The billions spent on wind farms and solar farms will be seen to have been unwisely spent.”

    1. Many have understood that the so called “renewable” energy is anything but renewable and requires far more energy inputs than they will ever produce. We also understand that without massive subsidies they are a complete failure financially. Unreliable in the extreme.

      1. AND, Among the material realities of green energy:
Building wind turbines and solar panels to generate electricity, as well as batteries to fuel electric vehicles, requires,
on average, more than 10 times the quantity of materials, compared with building machines using hydrocarbons
to deliver the same amount of energy to society.
A single electric car contains more cobalt than 1,000 smartphone batteries; the blades on a single wind turbine
have more plastic than 5 million smartphones; and a solar array that can power one data center uses more glass
        than 50 million phones.
Replacing hydrocarbons with green machines under current plans—never mind aspirations for far greater expansion—
will vastly increase the mining of various critical minerals around the world. For example, a single electric
car battery weighing 1,000 pounds requires extracting and processing some 500,000 pounds of materials. Averaged
over a battery’s life, each mile of driving an electric car “consumes” five pounds of earth. Using an internal
combustion engine consumes about 0.2 pounds of liquids per mile.
Oil, natural gas, and coal are needed to produce the concrete, steel, plastics, and purified minerals used to build
green machines. The energy equivalent of 100 barrels of oil is used in the processes to fabricate a single battery
that can store the equivalent of one barrel of oil.
By 2050, with current plans, the quantity of worn-out solar panels—much of it nonrecyclable—will constitute double
the tonnage of all today’s global plastic waste, along with over 3 million tons per year of unrecyclable plastics
from worn-out wind turbine blades. By 2030, more than 10 million tons per year of batteries will become garbage

    2. This is the beauty of renewable energy. As we introduce more it our electricity prices rise to the point where we can no longer afford renewable energy. Until then I’m stock-piling wood.

    1. What if other NATO members reject the application for membership Colon? Is their acceptance a done deal?

        1. I can see nato accepting Finland but why would they even consider the other Muslim country that is applying?

    2. I think these moves to NATO membership are not a good strategy to de- excslste things. They are deliberately provocative.

  3. Legionaries of “Freedom of Russia” legion interrogate POW.

Now, this is interesting. Apparently there is a unit of Russians fighting for free Ukraine and against Pootinista Junta. I have no idea who they are (I am sure the resident orc fifth column will offer their usual drivel). So I am withholding judgement.
    More here:

    hmmm….

  4. Another “apparently”

Have a look at the video here and firstly note who is telephoning about a cease fire.

    https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2022/05/19/col-douglas-macgregor-delivers-an-update-on-ukraine-from-a-perspective-western-media-cannot-dare-advance/

    And then check this one

“And further Sitrep on the Ukrainian situation: https://www.moonofalabama.org/2022/05/ukraine-sitrep-russians-break-through-us-bolsterism.html#more

Via a comment at Chiefio – that one mentions now two phone calls about a cease fire from the same entity.

    1. He doesn’t think we’re all stupid. He knows that enough of us are that he can get away with whatever he wants.

      1. That BA, and most of us are not violent people who will take physical action against them.

    1. That was great. Garrison should do “Beneath the Planet of the Apes” next.

The masked freaks worshiping the atomic bomb are a perfect metaphor for today’s Dems. I only hope conservatives have more luck in stopping their insanity than Charlton Heston and James Fransiscus did.

    1. Reminds of what is going to happen in the next Alberta election Cut off your nose to spite your face as they say.

    2. “Those nutty Australians just can’t get enough climate change.”

They are not as stupid as our Arctic morons who think 50 below is global warming.

  5. Lindell has more huge losses in court:

“As set forth in the accompanying Memorandum Opinion, it is hereby ORDERED that Smartmatic’s Motion to Dismiss, ECF No. 94, is GRANTED. It is further ORDERED that Dominion and Hamilton Place’s Motion to Dismiss, ECF No. 115, is GRANTED. It is further ORDERED that Smartmatic’s Motion for Sanctions, ECF No. 118, is GRANTED IN PART. ”

I will have to read more into it, but the judge is essentially saying Lindell doesn’t have a case. The fact that he is facing sanctions – which I predicted the day he filed his dumb lawsuit – is hilarious.

  6. The biggest problem that is coming for our infrastructure???
Companies that made many huge infrastructure structures, no longer exist.

    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/05/bad-news-energy-front-entergy-corp-shuts-nuclear-power-plant-michigan/

On top our our current politicians delaying tactics.
Can’t build anything without importing it from another country that takes a massive amount of time now also your probably at the bottom of a huge customer list.

  7. I just read that AOC’s engaged. What on earth did he do to deserve that?

    1. I sent the link to Billy Blair and my MP, Yasir Naqvi, with the following letter:

      Dear Gentlemen,
Please see the attached link from Global News because, once again, it shoots down the Liberal anti-law-abiding-citizen position.

If you’re afraid of law-abiding Canadians owning some types of guns its because you’re really afraid of them owning any gun and you’re just not honest enough to admit it.

      Thankyou for your public service,

I know it’s pointless and too polite, but whatever.

      1. Ya, shoulda said something nasty about their momma’s…

Good for you for forwarding the link anyway.

    1. ” He was always an anal moron.” Oh puleeze. I suspect you do not remember much about the political climate at the time. Getting rid of the CBC at that juncture would have been political suicide. I think many more people are open to the idea at this time — in 0art because we are losing our sense of national identity. Harper did a decent job as PM. It’s always easy to criticize.
