The Zimbabwe experience

Okay, we’re not Zimbabwe yet, but, you know, baby steps

The consumer price index, a broad-based measure of prices for goods and services, increased 8.3% from a year ago, higher than the Dow Jones estimate for an 8.1% gain. That represented a slight ease from March’s peak but was still close to the highest level since the summer of 1982.

  1. I would be careful with the Zimbabwe reference….you can still buy a Zambezi lager there for under $1 us

    1. Zimbabwe GDP is about 1000 bucks US per annum, so that dollar beer is the equivalent of a Canadian paying 50 dollars for a beer.

  2. They left out a word. “Unexpectedly”.

All these things come as a great surprise to them.

    1. Excellent read, FreeMan. Thx for the link. Nice to see they got “rewarded” for their cooperation. Perhaps that will give them pause next time. Bastards…

  3. The liberals have been trying to destroy Canada for all my fairly long life,. The current crop of voters are so so stupid they just might succeed.

  4. That 8.3% is on top of an inflated cpi already in place April 2021. So it is likely at 10% plus relative to April 2020

  5. Canadians, stupid as we are, are nowhere near as dumb as Zimbabweans. That alone means we’ll never reach their level of idiocy or poverty. We’ll go more like the Wiemar Republic, and we know how that worked out.
