  1. Hungary should of course start the ball rolling for exiting the EU, and drop some hints about NATO too. They won’t like that and may find a way to backtrack to keep him onboard. Of course, Orban may want the money more than the independence; he’s already demonstrated willingness to be the bitch for the right price:

“We need gas. This is the reality. You need to agree with the Russians,” Orban told public radio.

Not Satisfied With The Wreck In Ukraine

    Reminder – Russia attacked Ukraine.

    1. Russia attacked Ukraine before it could be turned into a staging area for a Western army with orders to murder Russians by the million.

And Orban has acted consistently to further the interest of Hungarians, not Esperantists. Hungarians need Russian oil and gas. The last thing they need is nuclear war.

Any Hungarian Esperantist who had a problem with that is free to leave. Fortunately, many already have and many more will follow.

      1. So does that mean that Russia is now going to attack the Baltic states and Poland? Seriously, see a doctor.

    2. Reminder—- Ukraine shelled Donbass for EIGHT years.

      https://youtu.be/bN68OfFKaWs

Reminder — ever heard of a little thing called “the Cuban Missile Crisis? Maybe Russia should have just threatened “if you place one NATO missile in Ukraine, we nuke Washington DC.”

      1. Ukraine shelled Donbass for EIGHT years.

A “Putin-eats-babies” level of simplistic propaganda.

There was a low grade war on Ukrainian territory for eight years, between Ukraine and Russian backed separatists / Russia. The Donbas was shelled by both sides, as a simple look at a satellite view will show.

    3. Russia was/is protecting itself and Russian speaking Ukrainians.
Putin maybe also doing the world a favour by exposing and derailing the globalists.

      1. Whether he’s “doing the world a favor” or not, the ends do not justify the means.
Be careful where you align yourself.

Personally speaking, sitting on this fence is turning out to be more comfortable than I thought it would be.

  2. There are some differences, Kate.

For one thing, Hungary is a real country with a real language.

    1. Oh oh.
Unconfirmed reports of a top US General being captured by Russian troops in Mariupol.

U.S Major General Roger L. Cloutier Jr. the U.S. Africa Command HQ Chief of Staff in the besieged Ukrainian Azov camp in Mariupol ,
The Pentagon wanted to contact Putin.

    2. Kate.
      Noticed the Democrats, Republican, Lindsey Graham, Nancy pesos and many others;
Biden Adm seem desperate to keep Ukraine and Russia in the killing fields.
First I thought it increased president WINO’s polls, but now thinking Ukraine was/ is a huge Slushy Ponzi Scheme for every thefing bastardized Washington government field official.
They know if it’s exposed it will be more dangerous than 100 Jeffrey Epstein’s with their little black spread sheet’s, and house of service.

    3. For some in NATO, it’s better for the Ukrainians to keep fighting, and dying, than to achieve a peace that comes too early or at too high a cost to Kyiv and the rest of Europe.

You quote that like there’s something wrong.

Of course it’s better for Ukraine to fight than to accept a peace that is a surrender; that emboldens and enriches a Russia that threatens Europe. They’ve already stopped “Special Military Operation” Mark I, let’s do everything sensible to help them stop the upcoming Mark II.

Do everything to help Russia humble itself.

  3. Yanukovych?

    Lol

You’re joking right? The transfer of power to parliament due to “EU pressure” (it was internal pressure) was done way past his best by date. He was cooked. Nice jail sentence waiting for him in Ukraine too.

Yanukovych isn’t much different than Lukashenko.

  4. Democracy and the popular vote.
The Left love the popular vote… right up until someone popular actually wins who they haven’t groomed.
    Then democracy is broken.

To be honest the Right tolerate democracy. Many resent why unemployed career welfare bludgers should be allowed equal say in how tax money is spent.

The Left believe democracy is a means to an end. That end is cancelling democracy once they win power and leading everything into a Brave New World Order. Socialism WILL work this time. Probably.

It is only the Centre who actually believe that by carefully analysing all candidates and balancing the presented issues can a truly fair and representative government be formed.

Nations have a right to protect and project their sovereign interests… well… up to the point that their sovereign interests start to interfere with my sovereign interests. If Hungary want to elect this government then it is their right. Grud, America elected a hair sniffer and we were all told to shut up and accept.

Frankly it is better to have a nation that was allowed to elect someone you disagree with, than have a nation who had someone a third party selected forced onto them. In the first case you at least know where they stand and, if you dislike their global views, you can act on them. In the second case you have a population resenting both their installed government and the foreign interference.

Life is not filled with simple good/bad boxes we can put everyone into in a way that pleases everyone. It might please you, but you are one and they are many. Life is grey. Accept it. The enemy of my enemy is my enemy’s enemy. Do not assume anything else.

Frankly the sooner the EU has it’s ego and teeth pulled the better.

    1. “have a nation who had someone a third party selected forced onto them.”
You mean like most Western “Democracies” including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK all incompetent leaders with no experience, in over their heads taking orders from Davos.

    2. Mudcrab

      Quote of the day.

“…Frankly the sooner the EU has it’s ego and teeth pulled the better…”

Particularly when the ideological power behind said EU is the WEF…

Seems to me Orban is not a normally welcomed personage in DAVOS…right..??

      Carry on Vladimir…

  5. Does it cease to be democratic when the people vote for and elect the government “they” want? I know I did not vote for the government we have, is that no longer democracy? A free people do not need to be “guided” by anyone who considers themselves to be better than those who vote.

  6. The EU has demonstrated it self as the organization behind the WEF great reset. I may not care for Putin, but he is doing almost as much as Trump in exposing western rot.

  7. Interesting how Democracy doesn’t work when it fails to get the desired results.

  8. Here, let me fix that for you:
“Since coming to power in 2008, Obama’s government introduced a new constitution and changed the electoral system, while the ruling Democrat party extended its influence into the judiciary, state media and education system, placing Obama’s loyalists at the helm of institutions ranging from the chief prosecutor’s office to a media oversight body.

At the same time, high-level corruption has run rampant in America, with Biden’s family members and close friends becoming some of the wealthiest individuals in America — in part thanks to EU-funded public procurement projects.

As a result, experts and political opponents say, America is now no longer a fully fledged democracy. The American government, meanwhile, has long denied there are any problems with democracy at home, rejecting the new mechanism as a politically motivated tool. “

    1. Most of that actually happened… under Biden, but much of that could have easily happened under Obama.

The difference is the American scenario has more evidence to back that up than what was suggested in a politico propaganda piece aimed to slime Orban.
-I don’t see any evidence of election rigging in Hungary. Maybe there is, but I haven’t seen clear evidence of it yet –Unlike the 2020 US elections when electioneering was rampant.
-Given the point above, there is a clear majority in favor of Orban. Hungary is clearly unified, unlike many of the so-called western “democracies.”
However, much like my approach to Ukraine, I will reserve final judgement, and just wait and see. You see, I don’t trust ANYTHING being reported from that part of the world. It seems that everyone reporting has some kind of an agenda. I’ll just wait for the truth.

  9. “… has gradually taken control of democratic institutions and funneled taxpayer money to friends and family.”

Only acceptable when the left does it.

  10. The EU is punishing Hungary. Russia is punishing the EU. America is punishing Ukraine. Trudeau is punishing the freedom fighters. Nobody is punishing China. Don’t you just love the modern (free) world?

  11. It’s worth noting that this “punishment” predates the Hungarian election; it is simply the implementation of previous policy backed up by the European Court of Justice.

    https://www.theguardian.com/law/2022/feb/16/ecj-dismisses-hungary-poland-complaints-eu-rule-of-law-measure

It’s basically a sovereignty issue – whose law is preeminent. It is clear that membership of the EU means EU law is preeminent. That’s why Britain left, and why Hungary should do the same if it values its independence. I think Orban could exploit the current situation to get his EU millions for now, but in the long term Hungary should get out. As should any nation that values its sovereignty.

  12. “But it was the deaths of at least 88 people, many of them protesters shot dead by uniformed snipers in 48 hours of bloodshed, that ultimately brought him down.”

A Canadian professor of political science (from Ukraine) has analyzed the forensic and open source video data of the “Maidan Massacre” and come to the conclusion that of the 50 or so protestors shot on February 20, 2014, none were shot by the Berkut. This is based on video evidence of where they were at the time of their death, witness statements of their compatriots at the Berkut trials, and autopsy results of bullet trajectories that they killed them. The wounds indicated the shots were fired from behind/above them, mostly from the Hotel Ukraina, but also from the Arkady Bank building.

However, the mainstream narrative continues to present the death of the “Heavenly 100” as killed by “uniformed snipers”, i.e. government snipers. The death by sniper of the dozen or so Berkut officers on February 18 and 20 and other inconvenient facts have mostly disappeared from the record.
