  14. Nobody seems to mention that the northern plains of the US and the western canuckistanian prairies were hit with severe drought last year when talking about food shortages. This year thanks to sanctions and supply chain problems we are having trouble getting inputs for spring seeding and so far the weather has not shown signs of improving.

    1. Last time I checked we were still in the same La Nina weather pattern as Last year. I suppose it can change. Seems to me a rather thin margin. One good reason for cattle is to carry forward the past year’s surplus of fibers in a more edible form for humans. Don’t tell that to all the lentil lovers

    2. Rainfall was down slightly in some zones but also acreage planted was down resulting in a lower crop. And why was acreage down? Nothing to do with fuel taxes I’m sure.
      So a drought gets the blame so no one looks at why less ground was planted. Statistics made easy.
