    2. Rather than boycott all conservative ridings, to avoid a lib or dipper government, we should focus on a few ridings where prominent ministers responsible for the last two years of clusterfuckery reside. We should support the candidates most likely to defeat the following:

      Doug Ford
      Christine Elliot – health
      Doug Downey – attorney general
      Paul Calandra – long term care
      Caroline Mulroney – transportation

  2. Update on Ukraine:

    Russia strategy still sucks, but is improving. Their supply lines are so horrible – both food and fuel – that they are disguising tanker trucks as soft top troop carriers. The frost is pretty much melted so a lot of equipment is sinking and being abandoned. Ukraine special forces with the help of farmers and tow trucks have recovered some serious equipment including T90s, MP3s, a TOS1 and a TOS2. Don’t think that the pictures that you see of abandoned Russian equipment being destroyed by Ukranians means all of it is being destroyed. Some is, but a lot of it is being claimed. Hilariously, some are showing up on ebay.

    The Russians still aren’t using frequency hopping or encryption at all but the highest levels. Easy to jam, locate, and intercept. Russian war plans and comms frequency/encryption data have been located in multiple areas. Sometimes entirely intact comms vehicles are abandoned.

    I listened to a great interview with CF Col Lake who formerly commanded Operation Unifier which is our Ukranian troop training program. From 2014 to now they’ve done a complete 180. They’ve gone from a force that has absolutely no improvisation (Soviet doctrine) to where the units can do a lot of decision making. Another thing she emphasized was NATO integration. Makes you go hmmmm. I bet they’re using frequency hopping and encryption.

    A bunch more Bayrakters have arrived. Apparently the Russian radars can’t see them. Rumor is they now have Israeli anti radar drones. They are extremely stealthy and can be set to automatically loiter and once a radar is turned on, hone into it and destroy it.

    There also seems to be Ukranian equipment that hasn’t seen the battlefield or very little. Makes you go hmmmmm too. Toschkas and big 120mm guns. Apparently they have lots of Toschkas.

    Even though they are winning in areas like troop morale, infosec, propaganda, diplomacy, asset depletion, supply lines, cyberwarfare, sanctions, the Russian machine still churns ahead awkwardly. It’s impressive how little land they have after a week but they are slowly gaining.

    We don’t know the Ukranian country defense plan – Col Lake says she doesn’t even know – but it’s safe to say they haven’t played all their cards and that the overall Russian strategy is playing out similar to one of their scenarios. No doubt they anticipated encirclement of cities and relentless shelling.

    Also, president Lukashenko of Belarus accidently revealed plans to also invade Moldova when he displayed a chart that was obviously made before the war even started. Whoops.

      Also “regarding big 120 guns” 122mm howitzer (including 2S1 SP versions) or 120 mm mortar. Those are not big guns, and unless they are SP they very vulnerable to counter battery fire, especially that the standard Pootinista arty is more powerful per piece and much longer ranged. Also there is much more of it. Ukrainians haven’t used much of their armor either, because that armor would be overwhelmed so they have to hit and run and just bleed the Siberians.

      Tochkas, basically a generational replacement for Scud can be effective but they do not deliver a volume of fire unless loaded with cluster munitions. I suspect Ukrainians have the loaded with cluster munitions and do not want to deploy those for as long as Siberians restrict use of their cluster munitions.

      Also it looks like Ukrainians are putting Polish suicide drones (Warmate) to good use… that is one devious weapon.

          1. The place on one side of my house in B. C. is rented. For a few years, one of the women living there had a rather annoying German Shepherd who always ran to the fence and barked at me, even if I just stepped out onto my back porch.

            My canine-stepbrother didn’t like the critter and neither did the chap I hired to cut the lawn and shovel snow.

            I haven’t seen it around for the past few months, so either someone got rid of the dog or the mutt and its owner moved away. I don’t miss it.

          1. My canine step-brother is close to his ideal weight, largely because he is so active. Due to his age, though, he can’t play “go und get it” as much as he used to or would like.

            He doesn’t always go looking for the toy in question after it’s been thrown. A lot of times, he simply likes to look around and sniff the place out, particularly when we’re outside in the back yard. Eventually, though, he goes back to looking for his squeaky, finds it, returns it to me, and barks until I throw it again.

            His predecessors were another story. None of them were as active as he is, though my parents frequently walked them. They gained weight and my mother referred to the last two as her “fat little ladies”.

      1. I understand that regarding businesses. My main quibble is with public institutions (e.g. National Gallery) that we all pay for with our taxes. When there is no evidence that unvaxed pose a danger to others, shutting them out of services they have paid for is discriminatory. Maybe the Human Rights Commissions is the place to pursue this — or a law suit.
