My view is the regime will argue that all actions authorized by the Emergencies Act were valid at the time the “emergency” had been proclaimed and in effect.
Even if the “powers” end, rejected by Parliament, there won’t be a retroactive invalidation of actions already taken. Unfortunately.
My opinion is that the “new” Emergencies Act that Mulroney brought in to replace the previous War Measures Act, with the intention to prevent abuses similar to those that Trudeau 1.0 had committed in his “state of emergency”, is as equally flawed and disastrously dangerous a law as was its predecessor.

Well, the banks are a creation of the government. I don’t know the legislation in the US, but in Canada it’s the Bank Act, and much subsequent federal regulation. They’re not independent. For that matter, the governments heavily regulate all commercial activity and corporations.

Carney the evil Edmontonian is at the very centre of the international banking cartel. He has more influence within the central banks than anyone else in Canada, and probably more pull within the Canadian banks themselves.
They have slow walked. Their orders were to go out and find and suspend the bank accounts of anyone who they suspect supported the convoys. They have asked for more clarification. They have only shut down the bank accounts they have directly been ordered to.
250 isn’t a lot of accounts yet, compared to the number of folks who must have donated. I would think that anyone who donated would be moving their money out of banks now, and working to switch from direct deposit to paper checks on Monday. The impact on the banking industry could be pretty severe.

Where will you take your cheque to? Most businesses won’t cash a big cheque. And most banks won’t cash a cheque unless you’ve got an account with them.
Years ago I took a big cheque to the very bank and branch the cheque’s account was drawn upon. I still had a devil of a time. They insisted on giving me their bank draft in exchange for the cheque. They refused to give me cash. I eventually spoke to the manager, who was brusque and peremptory. NO CASH. (As I read on this website days ago, the Canadian economy comprises 3.2 trillion Canadian dollars; only 0.111 trillion is “cash” and the rest is electronic currency.)
When I took the draft to my own bank, they told me they were filling out a suspicious activity report to fintrak, just because the amount was so high. It wasn’t that much more than my pay deposits were at that time, which obviously would never generate a SAR.
My opinion then after all the run-around and threats of filing secret government reports was that the banking industry in this country had gone mad. I can expect it’s much worse now after all this emergency insanity. Fortunately I have no money to worry about.
I had the same experience last year buying an RTV that was over $10,000. I wanted a bank draft to the dealership because I was paying outright for it and not doing the loan thing. You would not believe the number of people I had to go through to finally get the money sent. I even had to fill out a form explaining why I wanted to take my own money out of savings and what I was spending it on. I felt like it had to be approved by the state.
