        11:30am (ET) was also when CTV reporters went to live coverage on site, not when they first showed up for work, coffee in hand, hair still wet from a morning shower. There would’ve been several hours of editorial meetings, equipment prep, security briefs, etc. before that.

        I’m not saying they’re heroes, but by the nature of the industry, journalists — legacy media, new media, whatever — tend to work relatively long hours. The insinuations of this post are either based on an honest misreading of the Twitter’s time stamping or intentionally disingenuous.

        1. Local joke. It takes a long time to find parking among all the garbage trucks at Tante Maria’s restaurant for breakfast. The trucks don’t roll out until 9:30.

        2. Even so, pretty cushy hours. It’s not like everyone else in the world doesn’t have to wake up and get ready for work. That this reporter is so lacking in self-awareness as to tout this as some kind of big accomplishment speaks volumes. Most working adults have much longer work hours, many under much more severe conditions. The legacy media is bankrupt.

    1. He would have wet his pants had he been in my part of the country about 6 weeks ago. I drove back to Edmonton from my house in B. C., taking around 8 hours. I was cautious over some stretches due to dodgy road conditions, but I stayed out of the ditch and I didn’t become an accident statistic.

      The warmest temperature along the way was -25° C. The night before, it was -39 in the back alley behind my house when I checked to see if my truck would start.

Thank you very much for using the correct word. Thank you also for correctly describing that the Government initiated a police operation to break up a protest by people shouting loudly that they only want to be free from its intolerable mandates.

Globe’s all “hang ’em high, they got what they deserved” vs the Post’s more reasonable comments, with readers somewhat divided.
