h/t to Chris, “This from the University de Montreal. Prepare to be ASTONISHED…”

Using marijuana may affect your ability to think and plan, study says

“Our study enabled us to highlight several areas of cognition impaired by cannabis use, including problems concentrating and difficulties remembering and learning, which may have considerable impact on users’ daily lives,” said coauthor Dr. Alexandre Dumais, associate clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of Montreal.

“Cannabis use in youth may consequently lead to reduced educational attainment, and, in adults, to poor work performance and dangerous driving. These consequences may be worse in regular and heavy users,” Dumais said.

Daniel Ream — Don’t mistake this for stupidity. Dr. Dumais is a genius. She figured out how to get the university to pay for her and and her friends’ weed supply.

  1. Now, if she can just convince her revenue sources that evidence points to a relationship between AGW and and increased weed use, and that a funded study is necessary, she’ll be puffin’ free for life.

  2. maybe it would be more useful to figure out what causes some weed users to undergo psychotic breaks, and require mental health treatment…

  3. ?.. If your stupid to begin with :).. Pot sure isn’t going to help to make things better.. Where do you draw the line where stupid stops and pot starts.. Another sacred cow computer model dealing with chaotic systems that can produce any result you want..

The economy of scale.. Yes if your stoned all the time and distracted with other things you would rather do.. Do you really need pot to go down that path.. Sex, alcohol and even work itself can put you in a position where parts of your life are not fully developed.. Define underdeveloped.. We are all unique and excuses are a dime a dozen..

Everything we come into contact with is bad for you its all a matter of dosage.. Too much time and your dead.. Too much of everything under the sun and your dead.. Put that in your computer model..

Yes, there is a measure of everything, I know that’s a relative concept.
There is a book that says something to the effect that a little bit of wine makes heart glad.
Of course the problem is that everyone has a different idea of the ‘little bit’.
Weed may be good for expanding your mind in the moment, then you come down and are not happy. Just a guess.
      Tried it once, bad experience.

    2. Brings to mind an old song written by the great Guy Clark (RIP)

      Breathing’s ’bout the only thing
I do too much of ain’t enough, alright.

  4. Extracts such as CBD can be beneficial for some people.
However, that’s vastly different from taking the dried plant, rolling it up in paper, lighting it on fire, and sucking in the smoke. Doing so is barbaricstupid.

  5. I used to think pot was bad and then I started taking TCH oil and now it’s like, it’s like, it’s like

  6. It explains – in part – why Justin Trudeau has a poor ability at thinking.

( the other part is that he is dumb )

  7. I can attest to pot’s deleterious effect on rational thought.

I smoked heavily when I got out of college and started a career as a computer scientist (programming in an extremely technical field). One night, on a date, the cops rolled up on us as we were finishing a bowl of good weed. We had a long conversation with the cops and they eventually let me go on my promise to “go and sin no more”. It helped that I was completely honest and told them exactly where to go in the vehicle and find the material. The story of the encounter is funny and those to whom I have related the experience are always amused.

I did what I promised. I went home and destroyed my paraphernalia. I gave my stash to someone I knew. I turned down entreaties to date my co-conspirator because I knew where that would lead. I changed my group of friends and changed my lifestyle.

Some time later, my mind became much more acute and I was able to follow much more complex trains of thought. The latter was very valuable in my profession and my career took off. Anecdotal? Yes. But, I am convinced that the change in my actions led me to have a much happier and more prosperous life. All because one police officer saw the potential to change my life and took the initiative to save me by not arresting me.

Years later, I did contract work in the city in which I was almost arrested. A cafe near my apartment shared a strip center venue with a neighborhood police center. I ate breakfast there occasionally and sometimes officers were in the restaurant; on those days, I picked up their tab. I did not make a fuss about it and the proprietor would explain who paid the bill. I explained that an officer had changed my life in a positive way many years prior and this was my effort to pay it forward.
