  2. Zerohedge has correctly predicted 200 of the last 3 market crashes.

(and yes, I love that site, #2 on my read list every day right after SDA…)

    1. I get a kick out of the comments section.
Not what it used to be , but what is , these days.
      Definitely Fight Club.

    2. TBH … who ISN’T foreseeing a BIG crash of the worlds economy (esp. the USA and Canada) looming ? I know there are quite a few Netflix owners weeping and hitting the SELL SELL SELL button … repeatedly.

We are hurtling toward the mother of all “hunker-downs” in the history of recessions. Virtually ALL unnecessary … but self imposed by F||CK Joe Bidinh!!

    1. Sid
Now happy that my computer IBM worked wizard son in law, didn’t have time to help me mine? or transfer my investments.

      14% would’ve been catastrophic.

PEOPLE mortgaging their house with 6 inches snow outside to buy cyber coins.

      Wow?

      1. Bitcoin (and crypto in general) is just a long term “investment”. It functions as a device to store value: there’s a finite number of Bitcoins, so it’s like digital gold. 1 oz of gold is one oz of gold, independent of what the market says the price is, and since gold is stardust (https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/09/110907132044.htm ) good ole earth makes none of it. What you find is what you get. So, the volatility of bitcoin is a function of cashing out and cashing in, as bitcoin inflation is not possible. With that said, it is quite impractical, in my view, to hold (most; lots?) retirement funds in bitcoins. But as part of a diversified portfolio, specially if there is some capital lying under the bed doing nothing, it’s worth a look. My children are 15 and 19. In addition to traditional investments, they also have Bitcoin assets they acquire regularly – $50 today; $100 another; and so on. Long. Term.

        1. But it only works so long as everyone agrees that their rarity secures their value.

          Like blue tulip bulbs.

  3. China’s economy still in the toilet after two years of draconian anti-Wuhan flu measures.

The liberation of Lesser Russia imminent, the rest of “emerging market Europe” not far in line behind it.

Democratic plans for institutionalized voter fraud dashed, making it much harder to keep American patriots out of office in 2022 and beyond.

More of the working-class white men who did all the useful work retiring or quitting their jobs in disgust every day. The jabs were the last straw.

Not much has gone right for Wall Street in the first year of the Biden regime.

What was that about raising interest rates again? Because our betters aren’t acting if they believe all the talk of inflation. If they did, they’d be investing in stocks to hedge against it, like the Zimbabweans did.

  4. To be fair, we’ve had a fairly good run this month and a few days like this, where investors are likely taking profits, are not unusual.

    1.  to B A Deplorable

If Joe Biden stays on course,
We will remember these as the good old days.
He couldn’t manipulate a B grade greasy spoon, hamburger joint in Afghanistan.

      1. After surviving Black Monday ’87, the Third World debt defaults a few years later, the Internet bubble from 2 decades ago, and the pre-O’Bummer market twitch, not a lot scares me as an investor any more.

That, of course, doesn’t mean that the worst that could happen won’t take place. Then again, being an investor requires a thick hide and a lot of patience.

    2. Agree, always a small gasp on mornings like this, then I see that the markets are hovering somewhere around early October and again mid Nov & Dec 2021 at today’s close. It’s really was a good year for investments. Hope it comes back, maybe a few deals to catch while its down.

  5. This imaginary currency that has no actual physical presence anywhere couldn’t possibly be a scam or disappear at some point, could it? Asking for a (very dumb) friend.

    1. If you can’t trade it, for food, to an illiterate peasant, in the middle of nowhere, then it has no value.
