  1. The consumption figure for 2020 makes no sense. With Covid, the amount of driving took a massive nose-dive; the streets were almost empty much of the time, and my auto insurance company gave me refunds twice because of lower outlays as a result of less driving. If 2020 had an actual increase in the amount of gas used over 2019, people must have been drinking it; or perhaps all the molotov cocktails used in various riots skewed the figures.

    1. Correct. my number was 2.43 days, but why quibble. It is like pissing in an Olympic pool and expecting the water to rise.

  4. Justin wants the price of gas to be higher and between dips and libs and greenies a lot of Canadians want gas to be higher too.

    Along with everything else.

    I wish the reporter in the story asked who they interviewed who they voted for and then did “journalists” work to figure out why the price was high……

    I ask people, friends family and co-workers when a topic such as this article comes up……. What is the next question? Why doesn’t this writer go down that path?

    Why is gas high?
    Why is Biden releasing reserves and consequences?
    What happens tomorrow or next week or next month?

    Just happy to write fluff piece and cash the check.

    Any lefties long time lurking first time posters want to defend reporter?

    2. Most Canadians want a price on carbon and lower gas prices along with no pipelines and no oil sands development. The fact the cpc doesn’t try to explain to people where gas cones from is baffling. Instead of some kind of carbon tax loyalty card scheme how about telling people how the world works? You could win a landslide if you could credibly promise lower grocery and gas prices.

    R-Lousiana said the oil is in Texas and Louisiana, the dipsticks are in Washington. (not his quote he read it somewhere) Ha! Good one. They’re like Canada, more so, these days.

  8. I think by now everybody here realizes that the Biden request for OPEC to produce more is the secret handshake to produce less.
    The administration plans to sell off a lot more to pay for the recently passed infrastructure bill. This isn’t just 2 days worth, it’s yet another deliberate disaster buried in the bill that passed with the help of 13 so called Republicans.

    To come within a mile of this bill being paid for oil prices must skyrocket.
    Any relief will be transient.
    P.S. Zero Hedge has an article stating that General Mills plans to raise prices up to 20% come January.

So the tax payers filled the reserves during the Trump administration when oil was $40 a barrel, * gives it to the oil companies who will still charge us full price for gasoline, and the tax payers are on the hook to refill them again (if the dems plan on refilling them) but now oil is $80 a barrel. I wonder if the “big guy” gets his normal 10%?

    1. $29 and change is the average price per barrel of the contents of the strategic reserve, it’ll have to be replaced with more expensive oil

  13. 50 million bbls, eh? The Permian Basin of West Texas and SE New Mexico will produce that in the next 10 or 11 days. That is produced from wells which have been hydraulically fractured – fraced – and we can’t have that, can we?

    1. The legal limit for releases from the SPR is 30 million barrels. So he broke that.

    2. They’ve been selling off the SPR to China since early September.

    So it’s a cheap headline, only.
