A couple of days ago, a new addendum appeared under the SaskHealth Covid daily case table.
I don’t know what may have prompted this, but it doesn’t matter. Here’s a screencap I used in a post on October 21st that clearly shows otherwise.
Look guys, I’m not your enemy here. Saskatchewan has had the least restrictive Covid policies in Canada throughout most of the pandemic, and most of us appreciate that.
But I cannot defend vaccine passports, just as I can’t defend absurdly illogical public policies that allow the infectious vaccinated into a restaurant while denying those who have recovered from Covid any public health status at all.
Coercive health policies that defy both the evidence and common sense, that create a caste system (they used to call that “two tier”) undermine confidence in the intellect of your department personnel. It moves the needle for the vaccine hesitant from “wary” to “hostile” and creates a strong disincentive for those who contract the virus to report it at all.
I said long ago that if you didn’t like the anti-maskers, just wait until the anti-testers get rolling. By employing shame and ostracization as leverage, SaskHealth has managed to push people to resist being tested when they’re ill.
What basis do I have to make such an assertion? Just the fact that there are more people within my immediate circle of friends who have had the virus and not been tested — than those who have.

Here’s the bottom line. If you’re using the force of law to suspend civil liberties and coerce a product into the arms of people who neither want nor need it — you had better be certain your product’s performance is damned near perfect.

How the hell would anyone know if they had THE VIRUS? There is no fucking test for it and the symptoms can be anywhere from a mild cold to a serious flu. The whole damn thing has been a fucking fraud and there is more than enough evidence to to prove that. Stop complying with the damn Nazi tyranny. The VACCINES are killing tens of thousands maybe even hundreds of thousands, we have become a nation of fools.

The ONLY test that makes any sense is an in-home rapid test that would help YOU identify what you were/are infected with so that you could take appropriate steps (limit your contact with others, start hitting the Iver, etc)

PCR is more of a research tool, than it is a diagnostic tool, though it has some limited utility as such. However it should NEVER be utilized as an exercise in trying to establish non-infectiousness!
This morning I listened to Dr. Jay Bhattacharya being interviewed by the Hoover Institute. It really ought to be required viewing, ESPECIALLY by Bonnie Bullshit et al (who should have their eyelids stapled to their foreheads first).

Sask. Health changing the numbers is alarming. The rules have been changed regularly since this pandemic began.

Actually drawing blood and doing a true antibody test is much more accurate.
Other baseline comparisons can be done by analyzing the blood for D dimer, glucose, creatine etc.

Doing a bang up job down here in the states too. Ruling by dictate (executive order) which means our president is now a dictator.
Never been tested. Most all my extended family has had it and nary a test. Had two kids tested, one because he went to Hawaii, the other because he was hospitalized with a life threatening staph infection. A staph infection caused, no doubt, because the authorities didn’t mandate that everyone takes antibiotics.
Who’s going to get tested when it means them and a whole passel of kids will be out of school for weeks?

I was on the fence about the vaccine, I almost got it…then my son said he lost his taste a second time…well what’s the use now? And just to be spiteful I skipped the flu shot too. I did pick up some horse dewormer just in case

Another change they have made is to require the PCR test to be from an approved third party testing organization. This may be partially my fault as I tried to get info on how the results from the SHA testing sites could be used as a proof for entry into a restaurant or bar within the 72 hour validity period. After going through the print out mechanism on the MySaskHealth website, we (me and the rep. from SHA) discovered that the results from a PCR test would not show up on a printout. I was told that a trouble report would be put into place to fix this….instead they seemed to have simply removed the ability to use the SHA testing results.
I currently have a question to their email asking if the vaccine passports will be expiring by 6 months as their effectiveness at that point is less than those who have only one shot (plus 14 days), but the one shot people are not eligible for the passport.
The product is so FAR from perfect, they’re DEMANDING you inject it again and again … ad infinitum.
If our “Health” and “Science” Bureaucrats had one scintilla of integrity … they’d admit the vaccines are ineffective. The fact that they haven’t … in the overwhelming face of evidence … has ruined the government’s legitimacy.
Testing positive, unvaccinated, and over 65 qualifies you for monoclonal antibodies in Alberta and I think in Saskatchewan. So there is actually a benefit to testing for the at risk unvaccinated now.

The wife and I hid out and kept it secret, lots of LOLs and “oh oh report to the government” jokes. We’re all getting better, it was a typical nasty cold, I’d bet there was no covid component.
You did the right thing. Don’t contribute to the hysteria. I do have rapid test that we have gotten from the hospital and from my kids’ school, but even that program is meant to drive up case numbers (more testing, more positives, more hysteria).

Today in Manitoba , the data for infections is pretty well 50/50 between the uns’ and the doubles. A month ago it was around 65/35 on average. Before that for Sept, 80/20ish. More restrictions, especially on churches in the southern region. Never mention mosques or other temples.
Also my last day for my part time $13.00 an hour job as I refused to be jabbed. Just as well, don’t want to put up with the protocols and covid cops at a rec centre full of kids once the outdoor rings open. Building manager says he plays hockey with 3 doctors who sing the virtues of the most researched and tested vax. He’s 60, just had his third. I just nodded and thought to myself, it’s a matter of time to tell who is right.
Did you know the Sandy Bay Reserve is part of Southern Health? Sandy Bay reserve is 95%+++ vaccinated but they are having a HUGE outbreak that is being blamed on the religious by the media. The province is now frantically rolling out booster shots on the reserve. They have hired an indigenous woman doctor whose sole job is to run around shooting her fellow Treaty People with the death shots. That’s one way to cut down on the welfare expenses I guess.
It’s going to be a harsh reality to see more of this. Old folk homes and reserves got the priority for the shot, the way they go, the rest will follow. A booster is just another nail…
In NS it’s almost at 50/50 now too, for the cases tested in the past week. They rarely break it out that way; they had typically been breaking it out all the way back to March or so, which skews the numbers heavily in the vax favor. Could be that they’re starting to build their booster case.

I agree with Kate’s position on this and with many of the comments. The gaslighting of the public is excessive and needs to be called out. The only thing I disagree with is the suggestion that “Saskatchewan has had the least restrictive Covid policies in Canada.” Sask is the only place I know of where unvaxed are not allowed to go to the liquor store ( unless they have changed that.)
Or the weed store, tried to go the first day they implemented (Oct 5 I think) and got told I couldn’t purchase without vax, of course I pitched a fit, had just spent 20mins unmasked at WalMart then get told I couldn’t purchase my devils lettuce ticked me off! I was even wearing a mask until they wouldn’t serve me! What made it worse is I was on the AB side of Lloydminster so I was super pissed. The problem is that the voting options are nil. The NDP, they are in the background rooting for more restrictions. I think it is a stretch to say that the Sask government is manipulating data. They merely changed a heading. It is there for all to see. Nothing manipulative about that. The name change is irrelevant anyway. Kate was suggesting – I think – that they manipulated numbers to make the vaccine look more effective. But, of course, this is just not true. First, you have to understand that if you are considered “vaccinated” then you are more than 14 days past your second shot. If you are not at that point, you are not considered fully vaccinated.
To measure the effectiveness of the vaccine we need to compare those who are vaccinated (14 days past second shot) to those who are not vaccinated. It is irrelevant if you group “first dose under 21 days” with the people who have no shots. They are all the same … they are NOT vaccinated.
Kate does a nice little calculation to show that the vaccinated are still showing a 34% positivity rate. She was right to subtract out the kids. But her calculation was incomplete. She did not adjust her answer for the size of the sample pools. There are many more vaccinated people than unvaccinated. (ie. If everyone in the province was vaccinated and only one person got sick, then we would say that 100% of those vaccinated tested positive. We know this would be true but misleading. In fact, the vaccine would be considered highly effective)
So to adjust for relative sizes of the vaccinated and unvaccinated population let’s work with the easy numbers of 85% and 15%, respectively. The unvaccinated population is 17.64% the size of the vaccinated population. (15/85=.1764) Then we would take Kate’s positivity number of 34% and multiply by .1764 to get just under 6%.
Now we get a more true picture of the effectiveness of the vaccine. If the vaccinated and unvaccinated groups were of equal size, 6% of the positive tests would be from vaccinated people and 94% would be from the unvaccinated.
Almost exactly the effectiveness promised.
I am no doctor and I am not a government worker. I am just a guy trying to make sense of the numbers Kate used and to bring a little transparency and honesty to those numbers. After all, if we don’t want the government to manipulate the numbers, then we shouldn’t either.
