I asked her why East Germany needed a wall to keep people in and shot them when they tried to escape, if communism was so great. She replied it was because the government of East Germany had paid for their education, and it wasn’t right for them take advantage of the free schooling and then just leave. Commitment to a bad ideology, such as leftism, makes people irrational. On the other hand, leftism attracts people who are mentally unstable to begin with.

         Yeah, that was the first thing that caught my eye as well. When they are forced to use weasel words in the headline, you know there is more to the story….it took me three tries to find the truth (about his cancer).

Much respect to the Alberta family of the 14 year old boy who had brain cancer but – two days before he died – happened to test positive for Covid. When he as publicized as a Covid death, his sisters pushed back and insisted his death be correctly recorded.

6. Disgustingly, as usual, the covid card gets played. I want to see the number of people who died with covid and who died of it.

   It’s really not a difficult question. For instance, the” youngest ever covid death in AB” was 14 in the final stages of brain cancer.
   Now these fools are babbling whether or not Powell should have received a booster, even though he was dying of blood cancer.
   Where is the timeline between covid perhaps finishing off a terminal patient and their “premature” death? Two weeks? A month?
   I agree with Dr. Seigel, this isn’t evidence vaccinations don’t work, but is that covid is ubiquitous and hospitals suck at containing it.

   A discussion of his legacy, good and bad, is clearly preferred, which I support rather than dwelling on covid disinformation, and
   while the mediocracy did tone this down, this nonsense is getting older faster than an obese 90 year old diabetic with emphysema.

   Powell’s career, legacy and service to his nation has few equals, a seminal trailblazer but also a personification of progressivism’s war lust.

   Was the Iraq invasion – which he supported to add his reputation to the cause – a precursor to ISIS invasions due to a vacuum of not just military power left by US’s subsequent withdrawal, but of credibility and moral authority in this poorly advised military adventure?

   Or was this just another war where victory, indeed mission accomplished, was turned into damaging defeat by progressive politicians?

   A better debate is a reflection on Secretary Powell’s amazing career. BZ to him for that and I hope he and his legacy can rest in pace.

8. Sorry. I did NOT “respect” Colin Powell. He was nothing more than a political general who blew with the winds of political expediency. He traded on his blackness (a very light shade) to get ahead.

   He never fully owned his own bad decisions, but blamed others. And what about him becoming the First African American President? He was wildly popular, and would have won as easily as BHO … but … there were skeletons in his closet that prevented his run. The 17 Intelligence Agencies must have been holding quite a Dossier on ol’ Colin …

    1. Powell was a conservative Republican until he wasn’t. When the radical Black caucus started to call him an Oreo cookie … Powell was desperate to get his street cred back. By the end … Powell had disavowed all the conservative things he’d done.

    Judging from some of the comments even on this thread, he was probably wise.

Have to admit I was a huge fan back in the day, especially when during the Pentagon press conference on Day 1 of the First Iraq when he bluntly said about the Iraqi army something to the effect of “First we’re going to cut it off, and then WE’RE GOING TO KILL IT”. And they did. The confident, plain-spoken, brutal honesty was refreshing to hear frankly.

    For a while in 1999-2000 there was speculation he was going to run for president and I was all in.

    Really turned into a major a-hole endorsing JugEars McFoodstamp in 2008. What an absolute betrayal endorsing a friggin commie. He was dead to me after that.
