    4. The health emergency is a severe self-induced staff shortage. Knothead started this mess by making frontline healthcare workers work longer with less to no overtime. Kenney didn’t do anything to rectify that. The NDP are buddies with the unions, not the members. Anyway, this begat the exodus of nurses, orderlies and EMT’s. Also, they won’t hire permanent staff to replace them, rather they recruit for “temporary” positions.

      Then, Kenney, Knothead and the AHS managers gave themselves raises. Afterwards they told the frontline they were getting pay reductions. On top of that AHS mandated jabs or lose your job.

      The hospitals are not at over capacity. With the exception of the ICU’s, they are mostly empty. The lockdowns are to cover up political and bureaucratic incompetence. That is what frontline healthcare workers are telling me.

      The MSM won’t report it that way. It doesn’t fit the fear porn narrative and would implicate Knothead as well. The legacy MSM is union run. Knothead’s husband is the head of the Alberta Labour Federation. Do you now see the pattern?

      1. Mike – it’s been going on for longer than the past six or so years. AHS has consistently prioritized bureaucrats over beds, and policies over medical procedures. There’s been triaging in the ICU’s on and off for a long time; it just wasn’t publicized.

        Saw somewhere a comparison of Alberta’s ICU beds per thousand population vs that of Germany. Alberta is extremely lacking in that respect.

        Do agree with you about much of what you say. The problem is, as #3 daughter is wont to point out, that those assigned to reduce costs are those in management and – of course – they’ll take out the front line workers and spare their own. Do remember spouse’s comment to the effect that – as the worker bees’ numbers shrunk, the HR employees’ numbers rose.

  20. With 99.4% of polls reporting, the PPC “stole” 26 seats from the CPC: 19 Liberal seats, 6 NDP and 1 Bloc. Fifteen of these are in Ontario, though only one in the Liberals’ 50 seat GTA fortress. There are 6 more in BC, 2 in Alberta, and 1 each in Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

    If PPC votes are added to CPC ones, the final seat count would look like this –

    145 CPC
    139 Liberal
    33 Bloc
    19 NDP
    2 Green

    In this scenario there would be a CPC minority government with BQ support, because that’s what Francois Legault and the CAQ want, and he would force the two together if need be.

    But of course this is all fantasy. In reality most PPC voters are never coming back to the CPC, especially if O’Toole stays on as leader. They will no doubt continue down their well-worn path: sell out their conservative base and then lose anyway.

    I’d add this article also illustrates the various absurd NDP-tier ideas O’Toole put in his campaign. In addition to the fact that Legault would have owned an O’Toole minority lock stock and barrel as a consequence of endorsing him, I think the outcome we got was the best we could hope for.
