  1. And the other stations are no better as they copy each other like these maggots politicians.
    Ewww.

Surprised Trudeau doesn’t go one better and ban all opposition names on ballots.
Obviously, he doesn’t believe laws apply to him.

      1. The “Completely” bought-and-paid-for network. The others are getting there, they just have to suck harder to get out of the “Partially” bought-and-paid-for category.

  2. And Fakebook has chosen the CBC as official “fact checkers”. You just can’t make this stuff up.

  3. Everything the Fiberals do is shady AF. Seriously, somebody name a policy announcement from the Pony in the last 6 months that wasn’t crooked. I can’t think of one.

We will know when we finally get a serious Conservative in power, because the first thing he or she will do is cut off all funding for the CBC. Like, all of it.

Prediction, I won’t live that long.

    1. Yep everything they do is shady, but when Ezra dared to write a book… oh noes! “Nein, nein, nein we can’t have zhat”, said Trudeau appointed goons. “How dare he write a book critical of dear leader and even do so without state funding?”

    2. There are still enough people who think that the CBC is a hallowed Canadian institution that must be protected at all costs. Even if they don’t watch it anymore themselves.

  4. Oh it’s shady alright but it’s gamble, there are a lot of people not enamoured with the CBC.
No government should be funding such a thing in a democracy.

  5. No, Tammany Hall was “shady”. This is just in your face “Fck it…don’t like it? Too bad” bullshit.
    But hey, it’s Canada.

    1. I once wrote the Minister in charge of the borders, I think Stephane Dion at the time, and asked why people had to pay Canadian taxes on things that simply couldn’t be obtained in Canada and were purchased elsewhere. I like to call it “fees for services not rendered.“ A “because we can, sucks to be you” tax grab.

      No reply, what a surprise.

      1. Yup. I’ve noticed that a few times when I’ve ordered stuff from south of the border. I, like you, buy something there because I can’t get it in Canada. Whether I actually pay duty on it seems to be an arbitrary source and, yeah, it’s a cash grab….. because they can.

        1. I’ve had the same experiences, B. A. I purchase certain items from the U.S. that are a fraction of what they cost here, including the exchange rate. Duties do seem to be arbitrary. For years, I never paid any duties, until COVID. Another supplier has prices that are a bit higher, but I never pay duties. Go figure.

          1. I bought most of my camera gear from B&H New York (except the cameras and lenses), shipped across the continent to my door, cheaper (and better selection too) then here and all after duty, taxes and freight added in. B&H did all the paper work, too.

      2. One thing that always pissed me off was having to pay $5 on my return to Canada from the U.S. I live here, for pity’s sake and already pay enough effing taxes! Nope. Not good enough. Must penalize you for daring to cross the border to shop, or take in a ball game, or sight-see, or whatever. As Leo Getz said, “they fuck you at the drive-thru!”

      3. I occasionally buy books overseas from a foreign language bookseller. Before the Covid there were many delivery options, including surface mail. I never paid GST.

After the Covid, there is only one delivery method available, DHL. DHL has a slick email/text notification service that tracks your package. It informed me my recent order would be delivered by such and such a date. It asked me to confirm my delivery preferences. Within minutes of that, I received another message from DHL. It informed me that I had to pay an additional $24 for customs duties. A most unpleasant, and unusual message. I had to make the ransom payment from the DHL website or they would withhold my package, indefinitely, one presumes. Then, following their logic, I would also owe them storage fees.

When I received my package I inspected the customs slip. The $24 charge was NOT customs duties. $5 was for GST. $19 was for “handling fees”. So DHL not only makes like a bandit with a more expensive delivery service forced upon me because of Covid (?) for some BS reason, but they also screw me over by charging me $19 to pay a $5 tax to the government. I’d love to get a piece of that markup myself. And they say the Mafia is organized crime.

Unfortunately, the loser here is not only me but also the small bookseller. Because I will never pay DHL for anything ever again. Screw them and the pony they rode in on.

  6. Even if Trudeau were to “lose”, he could still “win”.

Here’s a HIGHLY improbable, but NOT impossible, scenario, intended to provoke thinking about a dystopic near-future:

    Election results:
    CON: 140
    LIB: 108
    BQ: 30
    NDP: 30
    PPC: 30

    1. Trudeau says it’s his right as incumbent PM to seek the confidence of the House before offering his resignation to the GG.
    2. Ultimately, O’Toole says it is in the interests of national unity and political stability, that, in a time of “unprecedented” volatility in an on-going “health and climate emergency”, to support Trudeau and the Liberals.
    3. 70 CONs leave the CON caucus in protest and join the 30 PPCs to form a new Official Opposition
    4. Trudeau immediately tables a budget with “undisclosed” spending requirements, demanding Parliamentary approval for carte blanche spending powers, citing “on-going health and climate emergency” as justification for unprecedented power grab. Parliament approves.
    5. Trudeau requests GG to dissolve Parliament, as House Opposition is “dysfunctional, obstructive, and a clear and present danger to Parliamentary democracy”
    6. grass-roots groups and individual citizens organize protests to converge on Parliament Hill demanding the GG refuse Trudeau’s request to dissolve Parliament
    7. Trudeau invokes the War Measures Act to “apprehend an imminent insurrection”. Asked how far he is prepared to go to curtail individual liberties, Trudeau replies: “Just watch me”
    8. Government decrees vaxx mandates are now required for all public activities, and for receiving any government benefits
    9. [at some point in the future] Government and BOC announce new digital currency; all existing CAN$ are now declared defunct and must immediately be converted into the new digital currency; (conversion surcharges are possible)
    10. [at some point in the future] all owners of digital currency accounts must prove vaxx status, on penalty of account seizure; (other government requirements and qualifications are possible)
    10. [at some point in the future] Government and BOC announce, because of revenue crisis owing to health and climate emergency, a prime lending rate of -2%; all digital currency accounts are “credited” with a “-2% interest payment”; (further “credits” are possible)

    1. You forgot the curtailment if not outright ban of personal transportation due to climate emergency. FYI in case you didn’t know, they’re already doing it in the Republic of Ireland.

      1. Election results:
        CON: 140
        LIB: 108
        BQ: 30
        NDP: 30
        PPC: 30

        CON: 140
        PPC: 30?
        =170
And, wishfully thinking, I don’t think BQ would automatically align with Trudeau.

        1. As has been stated by others, 30 PPC is highly unlikely, so decrease PPC and increase CON accordingly. This was just a thought experiment in how Trudeau could retain power even if another party gains a HOC plurality. Also to thought-experiment how more closely aligned on all things the CON and Trudeau LIBs are. Plus how most parties would appear to be compromised in some way. Provincially, all governments of all political stripes are implementing restrictive, unconstitutional controls.

I agree BQ might not automatically support Trudeau, I seem to recall they were not averse to play ball with Harper, but in this scenario, Trudeau doesn’t need the BQ, as CON and NDP support is sufficient. Also, PPCs might not automatically support CONs, as Fabien Roy’s Creditistes didn’t support Clarke’s PCs automatically, although they could have to mutual benefit.

I think the most terrifying points in my original post were the tyrannical controls that a government could implement on preposterous pretences. Whether LIB or CON it’s hard to say whether party labels mean anything anymore.

        2. Well,it’s only 20 days away, and I’m hoping for a HUGE Tur- Bitch Slap, but the MargSimpson with a beard is still stinking up the joint, and the libdummies will vote for him. So we need a BIG turnout. Please no vote splitting .

          1. Stop with the wishful scenarios and all that.
Just vote and let the best scenario have a chance to work out.
            Vote wisely.

        1. Also, some day your mail order bride from Wuhan will arrive garbage boy.
Until then, Confucius says: “No poontang for you”.

        1. Max is the dairy queen. He’s the fool that took on the dairy lobby in his own province.

He owned the Bouce riding as did his father before him. Today he couldn’t get a cup of coffee in his home town.

I like his libertarian ideas but he is yesterday’s news in the election.

    1. It’s all about him and how much money he can filch. After all, he who dies with the most toys, wins, right?

  7. On a related note.

How The National Review Sold Its Soul to Google
And Why Jonah Goldberg and David French Got Thrown Out

So to sum up Jonah’s defense: “first, it’s absurd to think that any money changed hands, but yes money did change hands, but nobody could possible think that such money influenced what we wrote!” The problem for Jonah Goldberg was that, actually, I did have an insider at his magazine who confirmed that National Review editors declined to publish anti-Google articles. I sent Jonah a note telling him that “the problem for you is that I do have evidence.” I added that my source would be happy to come forward and publicly identify himself if Goldberg or anyone else at the National Review wanted to continue denying the story.

Guess how many people from the National Review contacted me to do so? Zero. Zilch. Nada.

    https://emeralddb3.substack.com/p/how-the-national-review-sold-its

    1. Channelling Trudeau 1.0 flipping da bird to protesters in Kamloops, circa that 70’s erection.
Better when we do it to the Trudeaus.

  8. Undoubtedly disgusting, but the article states that only 4% of canaduhn’s watch CBC, and lets face it they are already libranos, in fact most of them would be politicos ensuring state-approved propaganda is being properly dispensed.

  9. “only 4% of canaduhn’s watch CBC”
Interesting. How did those facts get into a CBC item? Heads will roll.
“….despite the fact that the public broadcaster already receives $1.2 billion in funding from taxpayers, making up over 71% of its income.
The network’s latest corporate plan revealed that over the last year the CBC lost 18% in advertising revenues, worth roughly $204.8 million.
Additionally, last year the CBC reported a considerable decrease in viewers. Records show that in 2019, CBC-TV viewership fell below 4% nationally for the first time in history.

  10. Now, if CBC were a private company, they’d likely go bankrupt, and then some enterprising person could buy up their assets for dimes on the dollar, reorganize the company, dust the useless timeservers, hire some bright young things to come up with new programming, and then go into business. Instead, the government-owned broadcaster will continue to be run by the same leftard time-servers, continue to produce vapid woke programming that no one wants to watch, and will continue to suckle on the public teat, sending more good money after bad. And the more money they lose, the more their audience shrinks, the bigger will be the subsidies required. After all, Canadians need to be able to tell their own stories or something.
