  4. If you shift the the Sweden curve about three months to the left, it closely mirrors the Israel curve. Suggests that Sweden is due for a big bump in numbers soon. And also suggests that this thing is cyclical by nature. and that all claims of certain measures “helping” or not helping need to be taken with a grain of salt.

    4. Sweden got it right, much less severe restrictions than most countries, the economic hit is lower than for most other countries, and the covid related deaths per capita number is lower than 38 other countries (incl Belgium, UK, US, France, Spain, Italy…).
      And of course now, once vaccinations and natural immunity kick in, there are basically zero covid related deaths.

      Sure, it aint over just yet, but am pretty sure the Swedish approach will be deemed superior to the draconian (totalitarian) methods used in most other countries.

  5. The passports are about control all right … just not covid. Any argument about the effectiveness of covid passports for controlling covid is predicated upon the effectiveness of the covid vaccines. It seems to me that there are only two ways of reading it from here.

    1. If the covid vaccines are effective, then the covid passport is not necessary for controlling covid.
    2. If the covid vaccines are not effective, then the covid passport is not necessary for controlling covid.

    The only conclusion that I see is that the purpose of a covid passport is not for controlling covid.

  6. There are two possible explanations that I can see

    1) Seasonality. Sweden is just a few months behind Israel due to it not being in cold and flu season (despite delta outbreaks in the rest of the northern hemisphere). But, given Israel’s massive interventions and Sweden’s light touch, that would also imply that interventions aren’t effective and certainly not worth the cost of collateral damage.

    2) Aquired Natural Immunity for the win. Meaning that aquired natural immunity for the young (under 65?) and healthy is far superior to mass vaccinations using the current high adverse reaction vaccines. Use therapeutics for the young and healthy who do get sick. Only vaccinate the highest risk groups (65+, obese, unhealthy) and those who want the vaccines for personal reasons.

      1. An effective test might have a purpose in certain situations but the current one seems designed solely to instil fear. A rapid test before getting on a commercial plane or entering a hospital or other places with vulnerable people, for instance. And not just for the unvaccinated because we now know the covid19 shots don’t completely stop infection or transmission.

      In #2, one of the issues is that a lot of people who think they are healthy are not. I look at the pics of these people saying they are young and healthy and don’t need a vaccine but they are 20-30 pounds overweight with other likely health problems who haven’t had a physical exam or blood work done in years – taking vitamin D isn’t going to help those people. If you’re fat and or otherwise unhealthy get the vaccine cause if you get a serious case of COVID you are going to be in trouble. If you have a low resting heart rate, recent blood work showing no issues, low blood pressure, and no chronic health issues, then you don’t really need it.

      1. I’m just looking at data. Something like 78% of hospitalizations are obese people. And well over 80% are people over 75. Then there’s people with immune disorders etc. It looks like you have to be acutely sick, over 75 with comorbidities or really overweight with comorbidities to be at high risk of covid hospitalizations and death, statistically.

        I’m not a health nut by I do trend in that direction. As a committed keto enthusiast, gardener and daily exerciser, I would advise people to look after their health. Good health is priceless.

You are not allowing for all the unknowns; the experimental biological agent has not been subject to the normal long term trials (10+ years) and you have not allowed for healthy proven drugs like hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin.

          I am simply explaining that unhealthy people (most people) should not lie to themselves that they are at no risk from COVID-19 and should not be taking health-related advice from people who are likely also unhealthy and refer to vaccines as “biological agents”. If they don’t want to get vaccinated then that’s cool but don’t fool yourself that the decision is consequence free.

  11. It’s clear that passports won’t work and are pretty stupid. In BC we are nearing 85% of people who have been vaccinated with at least one dose AND THEY ARE STILL are bringing it in. WTF is the point?

    Anyway it’s looking more and more like the vaccine works for about 4 months based on Israel’s situation so by December we’ll be in full lockdown again. What I’m hoping is that this will be the moment when people realize that it’s never going to end unless they stand up. Another cycle of re-open in the spring and shutdown in the fall will basically normalize this forever.

    In the meantime I encourage everyone fully vaxxed or not to stop eating out in restaurants in BC. No takeout, no timmies, no starbucks nothing. To me that’s really the only way to fight the passports that’ll work. If restaurants start seeing sales decline they’ll lobby for it to stop.

  20. Having enjoyed eating out frequently for the last month with even the wait staff being unmasked, happy and smiling, I’m not going back to masking.

    Restaurants may find many people who prefer to cook at home in freedom, rather than going through a masking charade for the privilege and high cost of eating in their restaurants.

    A boon for grocery outlets and pain for restauranteurs.

    BTW, I’m shocked at how many of my ‘conservative leaning’ friends support every new edict, despite knowing that they and 75% of those they encounter are “fully vaccinated”. They want me to go along to get along, “so we can all go back to normal”.
