The Biden Pentagon Doesn’t Know How Many Americans Are Stuck in Kabul and Has No Plan to Rescue Any
A reporter asked Pentagon spokesman John Kirby if the government even knows how many Americans remain in the deteriorating country. His answer: “I don’t know.”
Then who does know?
Biden announced the withdrawal in April. What have the Pentagon and State Department done since then? Why did they not draw up lists of who was in country, and where, for the eventuality of the final exit, which they knew was imminent? Such lists should have been compiled kept safe on servers in the United States.
We know now that the military closed up Bagram Air Base on July 5 without notifying our allies. This decision all but destroyed the military’s operational ability in Afghanistan — that was the point of closing that base, after all. We also know that Biden blinded the Afghan military from U.S. intelligence support and grounded its air force by denying it maintenance. We also know that Biden’s administration shuttered a program built to rescue Americans in harm’s way a few weeks before the closure of Bagram. That program’s purpose was to prevent another Benghazi. Biden shut it down. Biden also ordered the withdrawal from Afghanistan during the fighting season and ahead of, not after, the 20th anniversary of 9-11.
These decisions along with Biden’s decision to withdraw from Afghanistan without regard for the facts on the ground have left Americans stranded and the U.S. military he deployed into Afghanistan without the support they need or the evident ability to perform the mission before them now. Joe Biden has essentially created an Alamo-style siege in the heart of a foreign country on the other side of the world that is controlled by one of the most violent enemies on the planet.

that’s not the only cock up.

“American rifles for sale, never been fired and only dropped once!”
I throw up a little bit when I make that joke but it doesn’t make the shame any less.
Land of the free home of the brave. That would be past tense.
What can go wrong?
It’s not a cock-up. Remember when some we all know here used to warn us about Obama, “He’s on the other side.” He planted his followers throughout the U.S. government. Biden is one of them and more importantly his followers are many more. They are cheering for and aiding the fall of Western civilization.
Ignorance and apathy on display.
Going with Lara Logan on this one and it’s to the point now where it’s painfully obvious. This was/is an intentional handover of Afghanistan to the Chinese.
It’s hard not to believe it, with the ChiComs in control of the New York Times and Bezos owns the Washington Post and doesn’t want to cheese them off as they flash their market at him like a goalie flashing the five hole to draw a shot that will never go in. So a nod from Xi and all of that kompromat on Biden gets aired suddenly, while he is already teetering.
burton, or a cover up for the sale of technological information done previously or both.
Ten percent for the big guy?

Words and actions that harm people and destroy lives. That is what government, all government, is all about these days.
I am afraid it’s going to be like when a major hurricane hits, and at first it seems maybe it’s not that bad because there is no news and then the scale of the disaster comes to light as communications are established.
I hope I am wrong. All we have is ‘hope’ and ‘hope’ is not often to be confused with a winning hand.
Hurricane Response is very much a local and state thing. FEMA is the Federal Response, and they are mostly a big rolodex of private contractors with a big federal checkbook.
Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, North and South Carolinas are all Republican led. They will be fairly well led, the problems will be the urban cities. Louisiana, where Republicans predominate outside New Orleans and Baton Rouge should likewise be fairly OK. Remember the Cajun Navy? Ordinary Red State and Red County Citizens will taking care of themselves and their neighbors.
Remember Katrina? It missed New Orleans and hit Mississippi with its full force. All the media attention was on the disfunctional disaster of New Orleans. Mississippi was devastated, the coast was flattened and flooded. Mississippi quietly picked itself up, and put itself together.
All travelers names should go into a huge gov’t database, so the gov’t knows where you are, at all times.
Ya, that’ll do it.
I think it’s by design, the deep state need to bring America to her knees in humiliation and financial ruin and it’s taken less than a year to achieve the communists rules for radicals’ agenda.
Didn’t see your comment before I posted, but yes, you hit the nail on the head.
Government of those United States seem to be in disarray.
It is good that middle America does not take them seriously.
The only question is. if the middle America will change it next year.
At this moment, the only way that anything could work is an attack by China.
Those that went to school for a long time wrote the script. They have no experience in the real world. They are intellectualists, as opposed to intellectuals, that think that the world will do what they decide it will. They really don’t know what they decided, though they went to school for a long time and that’s that.
The decisions are made dependent on what time of the day it is.
If it does not, well, what the hell, those after them will have to live and clean up the mess.
May take much longer than they decided.
Intellectualists …
Interesting Concept Lev!
“ What have the Pentagon and State Department done since then? ”
Pretty much what they were doing for the last seven months. Counted on the press and checked their retirement accounts.
McMaster said it well, “There are two ways to go to war with America; asymmetrically or stupidly.”
China is at war with us, asymmetrically.
Nothing this disasterous happens by accident.
Can’t anybody here play this game? Casey Stengel
I find the Biden administration handling of the Afghan withdrawal so inexplicable that
the normal explanations just don’t cut it? I’m reduced to crazy stuff:
Did a Jinn take over the government security apparatus?
Did someone threaten to nuke Bagram AFB?
Is anyone on the Joint Chiefs smarter than a third grader?
A vet, whose brother was at Bagram, posted this on the Viva Frei Website:
“It’s a factual misrepresentation that Afghans didn’t fight for Afghanistan, since 2014 Afghans have fought the ground war in Afghanistan and lost more than 50,000 people since then repelling the Taliban every year, year after year. What changed here is that we ABRUPTLY abandoned them. They had no idea we would stop providing air support, artillery and intelligence and once we did they were severely outgunned and gave up because they knew it was hopeless.
The Taliban is also NOT all Afghans, these are Jordanian, Syrians, Egyptians and Iranians now with China selling them weapons.
We trained them to fight like Americans and many of them actually got really good at it. They went to US military schools and advanced instruction, the issue is that they didn’t know how to fight without all that stuff that we have and when Biden pulled it and they had no idea that was going to happen a lot of them had big last stands, my brother heard them desperately calling out in the radio for American call signs that no longer existed, requesting intelligence, air support and emergency extraction and to the the Afghans credit they tried to organize some kind of resistance in areas but the Taliban knew they could just overwhelm them after Bagram was reported as being gone.
It doesn’t make any sense to any veteran or military commander why we left Bagram, Trumps plan had us never leaving Bagram, we would have maintained a small force there to provide the Afghans with Intel and air support.”
They wanted this to be as catastrophic and humiliating to the U.S. as it is. This was the plan all along. When you have an administration bursting at the seams with America-hating communists and CCP agents, well this just furthers your ultimate goal – the collapse of America and ultimately western civilization itself as well.
Sid, about that election fraud???????
Afghanistan and Economic Migration
We made an enormous investment in infrastructure and education, right? Which begs the question for what? What’s the point of educating people if there is no employment or occupations? So, what kind of jobs would have been available to today’s Afghani?
If memory serves, in the early aughts, at the time of the invasion, all kinds of multinationals stepped up and pledged to open factories and businesses in Afghanistan. Am I remembering right? Did that ever happen?
I bring this up over concern for mass migration. The PTB will pretend it is all political, and some of it will be, but not the bulk of it. Europe is in the cross hairs of a uncontrolled and chaotic wave of economic migrants during the covid crisis. Was that the plan? I am asking because so much of this “policy” is inexplicable.
Obama, Biden
chaos
It is inexplicable, unless one can accept that these people wanted the USA to fail (and by extension, some groups of still free people in Europe)
If Obama – Biden wanted everything to fail, what would they have done differently?
If Trudeau wanted Canada to fail in the shit storm on the way, what would he have done differently?
If a recording of these evil people surfaced whereby they were heard saying they “hate the USA or Canada” … what would they have done differently?
marc, Obama – Biden, Obama – Soros/ Xi would be a better bet.
Yes
… and their voters as well.
“The Afghanistan Debacle is Exactly What the Left Wanted
The left wants our betrayal of these Afghans to be seen by our allies, and for them to infer from this (and rightly so) that they can’t count on us to honor our commitments. It’s a perverse twist of our domestic politics. In America, the message of the Left is: If we can impeach Donald Trump and silence Rand Paul and spy on Tucker Carlson with impunity, how well do you think you’re gonna fare? You’re on your own, pal.
Amplified across the world, the message of the left is: If America will sell you out to the Taliban, they won’t even think about lifting a finger to the Iranians and North Koreans, much less the Chinese and Russians. You’re on your own, pal.
What happened in Kabul was deliberate. In fact, I would argue it went far better than most leftists dreamed it would. Even they underestimated Joe’s uncanny ability to make the absolute worst decision in practically every situation. Our kids’ grandkids will be fighting the wars that result from this and will likely do it alone. Far from being a tragedy, our abandonment of Afghanistan was one of the left’s biggest foreign policy successes. ”

Exactly that. This was all planned to be as disastrous as possible. Truly evil people have the reigns of power in Washington DC. Lets pray they don’t succeed in destroying the country.
That Milley is a piece of work. I worry about the top military leadership in the US and Canada (and the western world?).
Biden and his seldom right always certain cabinet and advisors prioritize climate change and critical race theory, not reality.
Kamala the invisible, blinkin Blinken, Iran Jake, Pass the buck Austin, Authoritarian Avril, Slain Klain, and Keystone Kerry.
The blind leading the bland. This latest debacle exemplifies and accentuates this administration’s misjudgment and missteps.
But the mediocracy is set to give them a pass in 72 hours, the sweet spot between two and four days (c’mon man).
Biden is right to get angry at reasonable questions, mostly because he has a hodgepodge of fake narratives to sort through?
Of course Trump is to blame, the one who insisted and backed up with military force that the withdrawal would be orderly.
No US combat deaths for 18 months, the Taliban in their areas, keenly aware of US surveillance and air power above.
What changed? The Democrats took it all away and departed with their tail between their legs, with lots of hostages left behind.
Biden was President but it was Trump’s fault? That’s surely the next false narrative, likely related to racism.
“Biden Afghanistan policy counts on war weary Americans to lose interest.”
A disturbing headline at Reuters.
President Joe Biden is brushing off criticism of his administration’s chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal because he and his aides believe the political fallout at home will be limited, according to White House allies and administration officials….
https://althouse.blogspot.com/2021/08/biden-afghanistan-policy-counts-on-war.html
Lose interest in what? Besides, Trump’s withdrawal would have been waaay worse.
Such is the liberal mind.
When their main concern is how bad the fallout will be, and how limited they expect it to be, simply shows how FRIGGING EVIL they truly are!
am l the only one who thinks the take over happened as fast as it did because the taliban have HUGE support in the rural areas? kinda like MOST of the area of a nation picked at random? hmmmm? kinda like back in ‘Nam? hmmmmm?
aaaaaaaand nary a PEEP about this in what, 15 years or however long foreign military ‘played house’ in that shythole?
Joe Biden – Loser of the Free World.
At least he was nice enough to explain now that he has returned, thoroughly refreshed from his vacation he can bring his laser-like focus to bear on the predicament of the 15,000 hostages he abandoned in Afghanistan.
There are around 80,000 Taliban. There are 40 million people in Afghanistan. take out one third for the infirm and children and you have 26 million adults, if 1 out of 330 were to shoot a Taliban fighter and take his weapons, you could eliminate the Taliban. Are there enough brave men and women to take their shot and free the country?
