  1. Kabuki theater….or more apt…BAD Kabuki Theater. This guy was nominated by Obama for the position he now holds and failed to have his nomination approved. Keep in mind that Obama immediately set to weaponizing the intelligence community so having an OIG that was going to go along with the program would be one of the first instrumental acts of his administration.

Ironically, this OIG is a microcosm of Trump’s biggest failing…because Trump re-nominated the political career hack and got him into the position. He should have been clearing out the deadwood and displaying scalps at the castle gates. Instead, he was trusting the wrong people and allowing the career bureaucrats to continue on. We’ve seen how that has resulted.

Short version: Weak ass investigation. Redacted results. No punishments…no wrong doings. Maybe a blurb about how it goes against internal policy.

  2. I suspect in the process of their investigation … the NSA will discover that Tucker Carlson was given Russian prostitutes by Putin so they could urinate on the bed the Obama’s slept in. Or something outlandishly shocking! And racist! And conspiratorial!

What? Our government wouldn’t do such a thing … to get Tucker OFF the air? Maybe in some other era when the Constitutional oath meant something.

  3. The findings of the investigation will be summarized as: “Spying? What spying?”

  4. Predicting “Mistakes were made” will be the extent of any findings. No firings. No punishment. Not even a slap on the wrist.

WELCOME TO OUR BANANA REPUBLIC AND POLICE STATE. THE COUNTRY IS OVER.

  5. They didn’t spy to try to get Carlson off the air, they unmasked and leaked without context to try to get Carlson off the air. That’s what their former weaselly denial amounted to admitting.

Can’t wait for our site political officer to come on and explain to us that Tucker Carlson is an enemy of the people.

  6. “The NSA’s Inspector General Opens Investigation Into Allegations of Illegal Spying on Tucker Carlson”

    Job done.

Now filed in the Durham folder.

  7. Oh yeah, just you watch, heads are going to roll my friends. “Unmasking” is serious business as we all know.
    Nah…just messin’ with ya.
Maybe they’ll wake Bill Barr from his nap to look into this, y’know as a “special prosecutor” or something of that nature.
Or hey, maybe get him and his best bud Robert Mueller the third…oh, I’m sorry, “Bob Three Sticks” as he’s affectionately known from his days in Nam and do a prosecutin’ tag team for the shit show. Wow!!! Talk about a legal powerhouse!

After ten years they’ll come out with a report.

  8. He tried to contact people around Putin, an obvious target of monitoring. He’s probably tried to contact others. This gets one monitored. Open and shut indeed.

    1. Granted. But Warren, don’t you think there is another issue at stake? Like the fact the NSA leaked the info?

    2. The issue isn’t the monitoring. The issue is the unmasking of Carlson….then the leak to the press using that unmasking as the focus. Both acts are direct violations of Federal Law.

      1. Alas it’s not-but it should be. This episode does demonstrate how broad US surveillance powers are.

“Alas, that’s not true either. In reality, while U.S. person identities are supposed to be “masked” by default under standard “minimization procedures,” this is a fairly weak requirement. U.S. person identities can be included in reporting whenever it’s deemed necessary to provide proper context for the intelligence being reported, or “unmasked” by specific request later. Both of these things are extremely common.”

        1. You missed the point, Unme… Tucker Carlson was unmasked….perfectly legal. Then his name (unredacted) along with the content were provided to the US Press (select leak journalists). That is very illegal…and also a violation of the 4th Amendment.

    3. Go forth and multiply.

On May 8, 2005, 60 Minutes broadcast an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The correspondent was Mike Wallace.

Here are excerpts from that interview. Because President Putin spoke with Wallace in Russian, all of his answers, as represented in this transcript, are translations. This transcript has been edited, but the order of the questions has not been altered.
The interview begins with Mr. Putin and Mr. Wallace looking at photographs. Mr. Wallace asks Mr. Putin how he met his wife, Ludmilla.

MIKE WALLACE: Please tell the story.

PRES. PUTIN’S TRANSLATOR: Well, we met each other in a theater. We were sitting next to each other. Our seats were close. When we started our relationship, she lived in another city. She was in Kaliningrad.

WALLACE: And she used to fly to have a date with you?

TRANSLATOR: Yes. Well, she was a stewardess, so she was able to fly to Leningrad so that we could be together.

WALLACE: Your daughters, Katya and Masha, they’re 19 and 20 now?

TRANSLATOR: Well, one of them just celebrated her 20th birthday, and the other is 19. They’re a year and four months apart.

WALLACE: And one of them wants to be a manager. And the other wants to be a furniture designer or interior decorator?

TRANSLATOR: Well, they have not decided yet. But this is what they’re moving toward.

WALLACE: You didn’t want a boy?

TRANSLATOR: Well, I believe everything is right that God has given us. And the most important thing is for them to be healthy and happy.

WALLACE: God? You are a religious man?

TRANSLATOR: Well, I believe that every person must have faith in their heart. This is very important – your inner world, the condition of your soul.

WALLACE: Is that what brought you and George W. Bush together at the beginning? Your feeling about some spirit?

TRANSLATOR: Probably. That mutual feeling appeared during our first meeting.

WALLACE: When he looked into your eyes and saw your soul, what about you? Did you see his?

TRANSLATOR: Well, he impressed me as a reliable person, consistent in his actions.

WALLACE: And you still feel that way?

      Wallace the Putin loving commy.

    4. Wait…
So the head spy in the US, the guy in charge of the spies spying on Tucker Carlson, is investigating the spies he assigned to spy on Tucker Carlson, to see if they were spying on Tucker Carlson?

      Did I get that right?
      Hmmm…
