  1. Ok, I’ll start – in every situation ask yourself:
    Do I want to win?
    Do I want to be right?
    Do I want to preserve the relationship?

    1. Does truth matter? When you attempt to correct a lie with facts (and where you got them, and how it is known that they are indeed factual), would your model say that that is “winning”, or “being right”?

      I’ll avoid the third item, noting only that if someone tells you that you have to eat a turd or you’re not their friend (but they are your boss) are you OK with that?

    3. Just understand which buttons to avoid and not get drawn into a situation that you can’t win.
      Everyone has different perspectives that you want to enhance the relationship with.
      When someone wants to draw you into an argument, just ignore or walk away rather than let your own feelings get to saying things that will be used in future disagreements.
      Avoiding word arguments can’t be used in the future as we all have a memory.

        For those who change their mind on topics or decide on a position, often it is a step by

        Personally, when the Lockdowns began I saw the psychological stressinduced by the Lockdowns needed to be mitigated to reduce: mass anxiety, domestic strife/violence,
        despair/suicide attempts and the mental illness that isolation does in jail/prison.

        When the provincial/federal health officers/dept. ignored that. Clearly, that was either
        incompetence, criminal irresponsibility or malevolence. Or some combination of all
        three. Being also, familiar with the legal Duty of Care/Standard of Care that medical
        professionals are required to adhere to. I knew we were in serious trouble.

    2. Health Canada now doing ads claiming the “vaccines” are approved and safe. Also using the same logic in reverse about the risk of the vaccine. So we’re being told to get a vaccine that has a more than one per cent chance of causing complications to protect us from a virus that has a less than one per cent chance of killing us.

DIL got vaxxed forced into it with her healthcare job. She had a hysterectomy 3 years ago. Her menses started again with a severe infection. And they told her she can still get covid and will have to quarantine if she tests positive. And must still wear a mask all day at work. They are criminals.

      volunteers and donations and start as soon, as possible. That the Archdiocese has not
      announced that already is a sign that leadership responsibility falls to the congregants.

      That there are some in a hierarchy that fail to live up to their responsibility is and always
      has been a problem with hierarchies and institutions. If you discovered that your priest,
      minister or pastor had been stealing from the collection plate. Would you then decide
      that the “Thou Shalt Not Steal” is something you would abandon/lose faith in ?

      Secondly, If those who believe in the Christian values foundational to Western Civilization
      fail to defend them with the courage of their convictions. Canada will see churches set afire
      when there are congregations inside, as happens in e.i. the Middle-East and Africa.

      Remember that the early Christians in Rome held their liturgical services in the Catacombs
      beneath the city, where the dead were buried.

      It is no co-incidence that the burning of churches has followed provincial governments
      shutting down church services, indoors and out, and demonizing those who hold them,
      by shutting down the services and sometimes jailing the ministers.

      I’ve been a long-time fan of the original series, going back to when the CBC showed the early William Hartnell episodes. I wasn’t impressed by the “re-boot” and gave up on it about a year or two after David Tennant took over.

      I thought the BBC flipped its wig when it made DW female. Now he’s going to be a poof?

      Unfortunately, the “re-boot” suffered from lazy writing. The original series often had episodes involving the Doctor’s rebellion against the Time Lords and were sometimes set on Gallifrey. The plots required imagination and an adherence to a detailed story line. Early in the Christopher Eccleston run, all that was conveniently done away with and the scripts were, frankly, rubbish after that.

      In my opinion, the whole DW franchise started going downhill starting when Peter Davison had the role, starting about 40 years ago. John Nathan-Turner had become the producer during Tom Baker’s tenure and started making major changes. A lot of fans weren’t pleased and rumour had it that it had contributed to Baker leaving the show.

        If the story won’t follow its own rules (be internally consistent to the universe the writer’s have created) then there’s no point in following that fantasy.

(The final straw was the Donald Trump like developer that was disposing of toxic waste in the bottom of his luxury hotels, because all capitalists are like that.             The original Star Trek is locked in and beloved. In order to properly sully the characters, they did a reboot where a bad guy got a time machine and gave Kirk a tragic back-story, so they could angst and feminize it up.

            The latest Star Trek series lost me when they had 2 slender human women kicking the crap out of two Klingon warriors in hand-to-hand fighting. The Klingons sometimes had swords, but the humans only used hands and feet. The Klingons outweighed the plucky feminists by 2 to 3 times. I laughed so hard I almost cried. My wife didn’t understand why I thought it was funny.

        1. Edmonton Transit operates an airport bus service from the end of the LRT line at Century Park. It costs only $5 each way, which is a considerable saving over having to pay the amount for a cab that you cited.

          Oddly enough, when I had to get up really early in order to catch a plane out of Edmonton on my way to my house in B. C., the local cab companies charged around a $40 flat rate to the airport. Take a cab from the airport into Edmonton, it was fair game.

    Heard an interview with the Penticton band chief who had “mixed feelings” about the burnings. GET THIS: Many elders (that’s old injuns of course) attend that church and they are really hurting. HOLD ON A SEC: What are elders doing in a Catholic church!?

    Had I been in local government or the RCMP, as soon as this bogus psy-ops looting campaign started I’d have instituted heavy security at these churches. These outcomes were 100% predictable.

    Finally, my devout Catholic wife was shocked to hear from a Catholic friend who attends her church that, jeeziz crisis, she believes the view that the Catholic church STARVED those children.

    Oh, one more: My wife is going to mass Sunday with the marginal loosening of Covid restrictions. GET THIS: the church is not allowed to run the fans.

        Just checked with my wife. In the Catholic school next door fans were not permitted all school year. School is now out. The church has only recently opened to a limited flock, so the priest is not 100% certain about the fan rule and will try to get clarification. It was of course not HOT until recently. It is, however, a perfectly reasonable assumption on his part.

        Were I the priest I would once have just run them and pleaded ignorance if challeneged by the health gestapo. Today, I’m doubtful I would take that approach.

The Catholics would have had a lot of nuns as teachers but the kids lived through a crack on the knuckles or a whack to the back of the head.

      1. My grandma was talking with a “survivor” after he bought a new truck with his part of the settlement. They’d known each other for over 50 years.

        His “Sexual abuse” was being forced to take a bath on arrival. He didn’t want to. He’d never had one before. He had only seen soap a couple of times, and didn’t see the point of it. They got him out of his clothes, and washed him with soap. Including a washcloth making a couple of passes between the legs. Because there was contact near the genitals, it qualified as sexual abuse. He thought (when talking to my grandma) that it was hilariously funny that he was being paid now for the good habits and hygiene that he picked up in the school and that stayed with him the rest of his life.

        Yes, I’m sure there were some real examples of sexual abuse. But try to find some of the stories about “puberty pits” for young girls among the Tsimshian and the schools look a helluva lot better than coming-of-age with your uncles would have been.

If you could tell a believable story about a priest giving you one up the wazoo, that was good for $250,000.   19. Enjoying the weekend at my shack in Muskoka. Spent a lot of years waiting to retire from the military so the wife and I could relax here. Made the mistake of turning on Blackie’s CBC to see whats going on. Quickly turned it off. Non stop shit about genocide against indians. Worse, they had Big Chief Pam of the ancient Ryerson University tribe on, foaming at the mouth and ranting how Canadians are killing indians. Time to put my feet in the lake and have another gin and tonic. Maybe some day I will tell the funny story on how I introduced communist Chinese troops in Africa to gin and tonic.
