    1. I had tickets to see her just before the Chinese Lung AIDS hit and that never happened. She seems to have switched tracks; most of her recent work has been American Gospel with precious little of the bluegrass that made her popular.

      1. Well, you couldn’t exactly call that song bluegrass. The last album of hers that I bought, Windy City, is more country pop a la Patsy Cline. Very well done, of course. It certainly contains aspects of all her work. Lots of acoustic instruments but a more uptown production. Her voice is sublime. I imagine artists get bored and try other things. She can basically do no wrong as far as I’m concerned.

    2. Regardless of whether the Montreal Canadiens win the Stanley Cup, I think the team should change their name since the province of Quebec has declared itself to be a unilingual French Nation. The team no longer has any business calling themselves “les Canadiens” imo.

      This idea is my gift to them on their holiday aka la Fête Nationale.

          I’m an Anglo from there and moved away decades ago. Native ‘Francophone’ Quebeckers think of themselves as Québéçois (Québéçoise) not Canadians (or Canadiens.) With all the changes they’ve made it seems hypocritical to keep the Team name as it is.

          Imo, I think they’re fearful of losing their mother tongue like Franco-Louisiana. The latter move to France for a few years to learn how to speak proper French.

    1. Yes, the assumption of zero immunity in the computer models was and is false. From the little info I’ve gathered about this, it could be between 35% and 85% of the population were naturally immune. (Study in Sao Paulo and the Princess Diamond incident back in April 2020)

      1. Robert, based on the 99.8% recovery rate I would say close to 85%. Immunity cannot be gained through the not-vaccine offerings, it is a biological, medical impossibility as there is no virus present that one can gain immunity from. I wonder where sanity has gone?

    2. Thanks for this, but yeah no kidding. More than a year and a half in, and even with plumping the numbers barely 10% of us have caught this disease. So natural immunity, acquired from having other similar illnesses in the past, or also because of a proper functioning immune system, seems to be at least 80%. I’d call it 90%.

      All the more reason that the vaccines are not needed, and that the idea of vaccine passports is terribly flawed.

Penitentiaries like the BC Pen, ‘hospitals’ for disabled people such as Woodlands (next door to the Pen), and lunatic asylums like Riverview (not far from same) also had cemeteries on their properties. I think this was standard practice for older, defunct institutions. This just the government and media ginning up the ‘case’ for increasing racial division, conflict and therefore the rationale for increased authoritarian control.

    This pattern could repeat itself in America where we have already witnessed the rise of authoritarian movements. Last summer, groups exploited legitimate concerns about police misconduct to ferment violence across the country. Can anyone doubt that an economic crisis that leads to mass unemployment, foreclosures, and maybe even shortages will result in large-scale violence? Or that the violence will be exploited by power-hungry politicians? Or that many people will once again fall for the big lie that preserving safety requires giving up their liberty?

    The apparatus of repression already exists in the form of a surveillance state, police militarization, and big tech’s cooperation with big government to stamp out dissent.

    My parents and I had two cockatiels, several years apart. Both of them females but they were both amusing and clever.

    The second one teamed up with the first dachshund to watch for when my father came home. The bird would see my father’s truck and her waiting for him to walk by the dining room window was enough to alert the dog. The bird would start making a racket when she saw the top of his toque and that got the dog all excited.

    Needless to say, he got quite a welcome when he came through the door.

    They are of equal importance since Canada as a country is all about equality and getting more so by the moment.
    There’s only one fly in the potion, Pierre Trudeau’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which by it’s dictates, makes some more equal than others. A great tool for the situation we are in now, a slim majority with backup support assured.
