  1. Cars ! Who in California would require one ? Can’t they make vehicles that run on baking soda ?

  2. So california has a shortage of water and electricity, but no shortage of illegal immigrants….

and also one of the most wasteful consumers of electricity in the form of Hollywood

    oops

  3. So if needed folks should gather at a cooling center?

But wouldn’t that violate the COVID rules against crowds?

  4. We’ve just had an even HOTTER heat wave here in N. CA with 4-5 days of 100+ F. temps.

But the local roads are lousy with Tesla drivers. Lots and lots of Teslas. I refused to stop using my washing machine. And PG&E has made it too damn expensive to run the AC.

Damn. I’ve gotta get outta here!

      1. Ha! Californians are turning their own lights off … they just don’t know it yet. Descending into 3rd world status.

  5. I luv it. Lunatic leftists getting their just rewards. Let the bastards walk in the dark.

  6. L – On the upside, you’re less likely to be victim of carjacking, if your electric car battery is dead.

  7. So, if these government mandates for electric vehicles *and* unreliable and unaffordable green power generation continues then horses will be making a comeback. Without the option of the internal combustion engine, in an emergency horses are always ready to get you the hell out of Dodge. Horses – the true and reliable green transportation alternative. I see a bright future for hayfields and horse pastures. /s

      1. But horse puckey makes the world go ’round, doesn’t it?

    1. But … it never really worked.
Run your Tesla battery out and get stranded … and get a new $6k battery.

    2. “5 mins will get me to a gas station”

Let’s see. A Model 3 officially uses 24kWh/100 m or 0.24 per mile. so an hour on charge would get him 4 m. That looks like a 1kW genny.

“Why not buy a Honda?” Why not indeed.

  8. Does anyone have the original source for that story? It’s helpful for rubbing green/lefty noses in their own doo doo.

  9. This would be an endless money maker and would also solve their energy storage problem, you pay to charge your overpriced EV and they suck the power back out overnight or whenever they need it, then charge you to re-charge your EV. Since not all locals have a regulation/law compelling them to pay you for power they take back, you are basically FUBARed. Would also make a great lockdown/population control tool, don’t want people to travel – drain their batteries, want to limit travel – let them keep 10% charge. The other problem is that most batteries likely have a “charge lifespan”, how many times can you charge and discharge a Li-ION battery before its dies? Do they like deep charges or are lots of little sharp draws and charges better? Will the Utility help buy your next battery pack if they toast it by sucking it dry constantly. Kind of a neat idea though, distributed power storage paid for by your customers who also pay for the power to charge them, a real money spinner. Buy Shares!

  10. This is minor compared to the Carrington Effect which occurred in1859 and will happen again – God only knows when!
