          Imo, he shouldn’t have thrown so much cash towards the cause. He listened to his advisers like Dr Fauci. Was he pressured? In effect it was a bailout for some of the pharmaceutical companies which were going broke like Moderna and Johnson and Johnson. The latter is being sued over the talcum powder fiasco.

          Since he’s not President now it’s not his call anymore.

          I noticed that Putin recently said no thanks, not in his Country.

  9. I have had a 1st vaccine and will have 2nd soon. It’s a choice. I’m sure there’s much we don’t know just as it was with all vaccines we’ve had over the years. Difference then we didn’t have the vast social media to spread opinions and fear.
    It’s not helpful and adds to all the stress we’ve been going through.
    Time will tell but we all want to live normal lives with our families and friends and be safe from a deadly virus.
    It’s been pure hell, government leaders and medical people have to rely on the scientists whom we assume know what the hell they’re doing. Things keep changing, those who had Astrazenica vaccine are now advised to take Moderna or Pfizer as second….the message has been relayed to us by Dr Tam who somehow doesn’t instill confidence.

    1. I can only wonder what the ratings for the upcoming Jane Bond movie will be. I also heard that the casting of Jodie Whittaker as Doctor Who wasn’t such a great idea, either.

      One might think that movie and television producers would pay attention to what was well-known in industry: if it works, don’t fix it.

      2. BADR: The woke crowd has destroyed Bond, the MCU, Dr. Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, the Terminator franchise, Ghostbusters, Alien, and Charlies Angels, to name a few. Hollywood is now constitutionally unable to field a well written film.
        Its too bad, because the fact is Daniel Craig is a lot more faithful to Fleming’s Bond than Connery, Moore or Brosnan were, as far as his character is concerned, too bad he’s not allowed to be the hard-drinkin, chain smoking, womanizing killer Fleming wrote him as anymore.

          1. Dalton was, in my opinion, under-rated but, then, he was never given a chance to show what he could really do with the role.

            Due to internal squabbling in the production company for the Bond films, there was about a 5-year gap between License to Kill and Goldeneye. Dalton didn’t want to twiddle his thumbs for that long, so he quit.

            As for how closely he followed the character as portrayed in Fleming’s novels, I can’t say. I read some of them while I was in high school, but I don’t remember much of the details.

            Actually, Brosnan was supposed to be Moore’s successor, but he couldn’t get out of his TV contract at the time.

            And, for a bit of fun, watch for Dalton in the cornball Flash Gordon movie from 40 years ago.

          2. NR: I don’t really think any of the actors did too poorly, but the writers wrecked the Character. He had cruel, gray eyes and a scar on his face as Fleming wrote him, FFS!
            The 00 rating wasn’t a license to kill, it was recognition of the ability to kill without conscience, without psych repercussions, without screwing up your next mission… Hollywood broke him way back when, as much as I hate to say it. He was a mean mofo, not some charming handsome man at the casino. You should read “The Spy Who Loved Me” by Ian Fleming, and then “A Quantum of Solace.” They’re all pretty short books, available for free now.

            Fleming, of course, knew what he was writing about, having served with British Naval Intelligence during WW II.

            I just might do that. Books are always better than the movies* of the same name. And, yes all the actors were good, it’s just that Dalton was my personal favourite.

            Until a few years ago I hadn’t seen all the Bond pictures. It was only when I had a chance to binge watch them all on a snowy cold weekend did I see them all. It was then that I enjoyed Dalton the most through this opportunity for a close comparison. Thanks for the tip.

            * I rarely read novels, preferring historical pieces but I enjoyed the “Godfather” book more than the movie back in the day.

          6. NR: Well, all of Flemings Bond works are short wee books, less than 200 pages each.
            Speaking for myself, I hate how Hollywood fills everything full of sap. The old Stephen King movies were actual adaptations of the books, then the late 80’s happened, and Hollywood thought it could do better. They have been ruining things for a long, long time, and now there is no such thing as an adult movie like “Marathon Man” or “Three Days of the Condor.” No, now “adult movie” means sex. My Lord how I hate THEM.

            Right. Brosnan was stuck in the “Remington Steele” series and couldn’t get out of his contract. He was great in that and was at his peak, imo.

            So was Dalton when he was in Bond. As far as his acting, if I recall, he did do Shakespeare so he had that great style from the stage that translated well into the movies. Too bad he didn’t do more Bond, though.

He trashed the Conservatives for being mean to his defence minister, and insulted the military by calling it an old boys club. He then trashed the Conservatives for opposing his censorship bill. He explained that Conservatives have never been interested in arts and culture(Quebec), although anyone with half a brain would know that the opposition is about censorship not arts and culture.

  22. I’m beyond fed up being asked by cashiers if I’d like to donate to one local interest or another……today I was asked if I’d like to donate to the Pride program, I said know, never heard of it, no nothing about it.
    Begging for money at the cash outs is as low as it gets IMO.

    What really annoys me is I have seen the stores brag about donating money to these charities. It wasn’t the store it was their customers, and I would not be surprised if the store gets a charitable donation tax receipt.

One of the saddest things I saw, was a brief clip on the media today of a small group of military veterans in their Legion outfits standing in protest of the Macdonald statue being taken down in Kingston. To think of veterans having to watch and be the only ones to protest about the destruction of the country’s history they fought for, is so sad. Makes me wonder why I spent my life in the military when I see the country going down the toilet.
