1. Sounds like a cool story. Too bad Mr. Moore had jumped on the “AGW and we must impoverish everyone to stop it” band wagon.

      It would have been much better if didn’t have that irritating figure skater in it. For one thing, she adds nothing to the plot plus Lynn Holly Johnson simply cannot act.

      Then again, I didn’t Moore was really the best choice for the ultimate successor to Connery.

      1. Goodness, why do you need her to act? She was about the most beautiful woman in the world when she did that movie. All she needed to do was stay in focus.

         1. Considering her lack of talent, she would have been better off remaining silent. I cringed every time she spoke.

            By comparison, Marilyn Monroe was not only gorgeous, but she could act, too.

   2. “Live and Let Die” for me, the rest were nothing to write home about. Lazenby was the logical successor to Connery. IMHO

The book “For Your Eyes Only” takes place in largely in Vermont, with Bond working with Canadian intelligence in Montreal and posing as a hunter hiking down over the border to the villain’s lair somewhere in the Cold Hollow Mountains of Vermont while the young Olympic archer, whose parents the villain had killed, hikes up the Long Trail from Bennington with her trusty bow and arrow.

      The Spy Who Loved Me takes place in a motor inn near Lake George, NY, Bond was driving down from Montreal to NYC, I think and happened on a damsel in distress. It was kind of a bodice ripper and sold better among women than any of his other novels, but he disowned it because the real Bond fans hated it, and Fleming told the movie people not to use the actual plot from the novel.

      The movies were better than the books. I was going to make a snarky comment about Roger Moore’s Bond, but the story was great, and honestly, who could follow Sean Connery? It’s not fair.
