The Dead-End Policies of Leftism

Today I was telling several people about the insanity that is modern day San Francisco:

Among the many problems plaguing San Francisco in recent years, business leaders say one has become so commonplace that residents barely notice it: shoplifting.

Walgreens says petty theft in the city has gotten so out of control that it’s had to close 17 of its stores. CVS has told its employees not to intervene because the thieves so often attack them, calling San Francisco “one of the epicenters of organized retail crime.”

Meanwhile, local residents are angry – at the stores. When a Walgreens that had seen 18 stealing incidents in four months announced it was closing, a group of citizens started a petition demanding that it remain open.

I suspect that most of those I was speaking with didn’t believe me or thought I was exaggerating.  I was just relating the facts.

Click on the link above and read the petition.  Pause for a moment to think about the m-o-r-o-n–s who signed the petition: They’ve undoubtedly supported the Far Left Politicians who have instituted laws that don’t make it a real crime to steal up to $950.  Then when the repercussions of these policies have negative consequences that affect them, they turn on the private businesses rather than then government.  Definitionally, such folks must be mentally ill, right?!?

  1. Well, CVS and Walgreens still have more than zero stores there.

Has anyone switched to no merchandise on display yet? The employee and the warehouse are behind bullet proof glass. The customer can use a touch screen or an app on their phone, to fill a cart, the employee gets the stuff from the warehouse. They can turn the problem into mugging, if they demand cash before a single item is handed over.

      1. Yep, a retail business model with no shoplifting to write off.

      2. JD you’re dating yourself, but that’s what it will have to turn into, however, the politicians, like they did in Philadelphia, will ban the use of the retailer and their products behind glass.

    1. There was a store somewhere in austrailia a few years ago that switched to selling everything out of armoured vending machines. Can’t find an update so probably out of business

I ran a grocery store liquor dept for several years. Can’t count how many times the empty display bottle of Dom was stolen off the shelf.

Bigger problem than the drunks and crack/meth heads are the organized groups who clean out the back room

Also, to get a good deal on most things vendors require a store to bring in multiple cases and display a huge stack of it.
Sales do go way down when a product is locked up.

Biggest problem is that Nobody Ever Gets Arrested

    1. Of course he is.

The objective was to ruin honest, non-corporate businessmen who have to pay the cost of theft out of their own pockets.

This is only a crisis because corporations are being affected too.

  2. I was in a CVS in Boston, they had a self scan register right next to the door. I saw a guy walk up to the scanner, shrug his shoulders, and walk out the door with all of the stuff he took. But when that store closes, it will be capitalism’s fault that those people have to go further to get their drugs.

  3. Damn racists, black people do not steal, they redistribute for such is their heritage and culture… this explains why Africa is a powerhouse.

    1. Racist trolls are too funny.

So, only black criminals are smart enough to see the opportunity?
Only black people can be criminals?
Only black criminals are dumb enough to get caught?

Well, what exactly is it, that you were trying to say here?

Beclown yourself some more. It amuses me.

      1. Just read the crime stats broken down by race, and then contemplate the issue in light of those facts.

Once upon a time in the late 90’s or early 2000s, a group of university SJWs got all bent out of shape at the number of, hmm, let’s call it “racial” people pulled over for speeding on the New Jersey turnpike. So, they set out to prove the cops were doing it on purpose. The university students set up some radar traps and cameras to see what was going on.

The first thing they found out was quite inconvenient, they found that a guy running a radar trap can’t tell what race the driver of a speeding car is before it gets to him. The gun registers at a distance too far to see the driver.

The second thing they found out was that the “racial” drivers were speeding -way- more than the “non-racial” drivers. Like five times more.

It made the rounds on the blogs, and we all had a good laugh. Media wouldn’t touch it, no surprise there. The study will probably be hard to find, they didn’t like the conclusions they were forced to come to.

      2. Your definition of troll and the correct definition are exactly opposite. Oh, and “beclown” isn’t a word. You’re welcome!

  4. Back to the early 50s when a little new retailer was just starting up in Toronto. Only samples of merchandise were on display. Just pick up a merchandise card and take it to the cashier. You’d have your purchase rung up and the card would be sent downstairs where stockboys on rollerskates would retrieve your item. You’d wait at the top of a conveyor where your purchase would be handed to you. And that’s how Canadian Tire started out on Dupont Street.

  5. Just in case Frankfurt School indoctrination ain’t enough, they can always fall back on Cloward-Piven.

    1. Cloward and Piven’s thesis that that it was only the residual self-respect of the (white) American working class and its refusal to accept charity that made the American welfare state sustainable at all.

If everybody who qualified for all the welfare goodies available in the US in Cloward and Piven’s day had actually applied for them, the US government would have been bankrupted in short order. A national dividend or universal basic income (or whatever you want to call it), handed out to everyone no-strings-attached, would actually have been cheaper.

What Cloward and Piven didn’t realize, or wouldn’t admit, is that the objective of the American welfare state, however, has always been to bribe blacks to vote for Democrats, not make it easier for decent people to keep body and soul together in hard times.

  6. For once, the politicians can’t get (direct) blame for this.
The shoplifting is mostly due to (A) organized crime and “Proposition 47”, which was voted for by (B) more than 4 million Californians. So there were (C) over 15 million people who didn’t vote in that election who handed victory to the small minority who effectively legalized petty theft. And then there’s (D) the spoiled rich woke people who have no clue that the policies they promote and vote for, cause this!
Now watch: once they collapse the major cities in California, they’ll get upset and scared, and leave for other states, leaving rack and ruin in their wake. And, they’ll start agitating for the same failed policies there.

    This is how civilizations fall.

  7. Just label every product at $1000. Of course you receive the appropriate discount when actually paying for the product.

  8. As I said in a previous thread, import Africans, and you get African attitudes towards law, order, and property. Next stop, South Africa, then the hell that was once a prosperous Rhodesia. White Americans should have picked their own damn cotton.

  9. Definitionally, such folks must be mentally ill, right?!?

Having lived within forty miles of San Francisco for thirty-four years and worked in San Francisco for twenty-two months of that time, I’d say that the mere fact that somebody lives in San Francisco is enough to conclude that he’s mentally ill.
