  1. What can I say? People who haven’t already deleted their Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, …, deserve what is coming their way.

    1. Never had any of those in the first place Kevin, yet I don’t feel I’ve missed out on anything, and my sanity hasn’t degraded either.

    2. As recently as five years ago it might have been nearly that simple. Over the next five years it will become nearly pointless, as the scale of surveillance and data archiving becomes ubiquitous.

Somewhere in that range your willing participation will become necessary to be a gray man, as not doing so will make you flash red.

  2. ” … by paying private companies to infiltrate and report … ”

Canada’s HRCs are light-years ahead of the Yanks on this.

  3. When did Snowden change from a Seattle bred leftist bomb thrower … into a defender of “white supremacist, super-spreader, insurrectionists” ?! Did I blink, or something? Does he figure it will take a “Trump II” to get him out of exile?

    1. Kenji,Snowden or at least my perception of him “changed” when I found out he was not lying and improved even further after watching the forces of corruption usher President Trump out of power..
On the topic, why do the kleptocrats need social media to spy, they seem to be doing just fine using their comrades from the Five Eyes ..
“You spy on ours and we will spy on yours” and it is “Legal”..

  4. Can you imagine the outrage if Donnie Two Scoops had done this?

Our media of course sees no problem with this. In fact, they’re all like – “yeah bro – OUSTANDING! Send them all to Gitmo!!!”

Another outrage from last week was the news that the IRS is to receive $80 billion. This money will of course be used to hassle, intimidate, and incarcerate conservatives throughout the country for the slightest of tax infractions, or frankly for no reason at all. Welcome to our banana republic!

  5. Buck up, amigos/as, this has happened in America before — 1917 – lasted till the end of the Wilson fantasy — the Palmer Raids – Palmer a taneda Quaker. Busted for criticism or even attitude.
Lives and careers were ruined – way worse than McCarthy witch hunt, IMO.
Rest assured, there will be reckoning and a re-balace. It will start with the climate hoax – at last questions are being raised about the jet stream, the solar minimum and change in the globe’s tilt … all very real … all things we can do absolutely nothing to ‘mitigate’ …. hence $$$$$ and votes.
Today – we are all China – only we’all don’t do it as well as they do …. yet!

  6. It’s only a matter of time until a critical mass of conservatives leave the open internet, and its big social platforms like facebook and twitter, for a more encrypted web that cannot be easily infiltrated.

This proposal is more or less the same thing as to say in the 1960s, “we will have government agents listening in on all private phone calls,” or in the 1920s, “we will open everyone’s mail.” Those things might have been done anyway, but governments never bothered to announce those things to their voters.

It may have one beneficial effect. If governments find out how much real opposition there is to their policies, unexpressed in more public forums, then they might change their policies. They will quickly see that instead of a few hundred or thousand “extremists” there are millions, probably too many to handle, so that arbitrary intrusion into a few lives while problematic for those individuals will have little effect on the overall outcome.

    1. Peter.
      They already know that.
The Narrative requires denying the dissatisfied the means to communicate and convince each angry citizen that they are all alone against the Might of The Minions.
      Propaganda is vital.
