In the government-adjacent Ottawa bubble, they are as ubiquitous as wallpaper and about as unexamined, too. Consulting shops function as very nice halfway houses for the huddled masses who exit politics; brand names like Accenture, Earnscliffe and StrategyCorp dot slick office lobbies and the sponsorship pages of conference programs, and each has their own cinq à sept headquarters downtown (in a non-pandemic world where such things happened, anyway).
Those consultants are paid handsomely to keep old politicians in the style they are accustomed to, for telling the Líbranos what they want to hear.
Nobody wants to hear real solutions to Canada’s problems. Most of them would start with:
1. Repudiating the debts racked up by Líbrano and nominally conservative governments, including all government pension obligations.
2. Reclaiming effective immediately the Crown’s sole right to issue money in the Dominion—starting with nationalizing the smoking ruin of Canada’s banks after step 1 above.
3. Expropriation and severe punishment—long prison sentences to be served in general population in a federal prison, at minimum—of the leaderships of Bay Street and the Liberal Party.
4. Punishment of their Chinese communist business partners, starting with the inhabitants of the “embassy” compound on St. Patrick Street, for crimes committed in Canada. Sentences to be served in Canadian prisons before deportation and permanent barring from Canada.
Recognition of the PRC to be revoked. The diplomatic status of PRC representatives shall not be recognized.
It makes me proud to be a canadian when I see my tax dollars keeping these whores in porsches and caviar. Maybe someday they’ll let me have some beer and popcorn.
