There’s still no proof that lockdowns save lives but plenty of evidence that they end them, as I found by looking at the toll of “excess deaths” during the pandemic. Last year in the United States there were 130,000 more deaths than normal that were not attributed to the coronavirus.
 
These excess deaths occurred disproportionately among the young and middle-aged, minorities and low-income workers — groups hit especially hard by the lockdowns. The toll has been especially high in locked-down California but not in unlocked Florida. The mortality rate among younger people soared in America but not in Sweden, where it has been below normal. All of which confirms that the lockdowns are “trickle-down epidemiology” — protecting the laptop class at the expense of the working class — and constitute one of the greatest public-health mistakes in history.

    This is a rationl, but, I fear, erroneous supposition. Apart from Dr. Fauci in the US, who was, and is, openly political, I think that all the Doctators are sincere but sorely incompetent. The model that set off the global panic, the spaghetti code of British “20 million are going to die” Neil Fergusson, didn’t.

  4. I have no faith in ANYBODY to supply honest, accurate and complete data over deaths this past year. The inherent dishonesty of politics has now permeated itself into every facet of society.

    I believe that virtually all the data we have now has been so tainted at it’s sources for ideological gains as to be utterly useless.

    1. I have zero faith in Trudeau and his crew of clueless twits to procure enough vaccines to fully immunize the people of this country.
      Here we are at their mercy. They’re vaccinating seniors, over 75 and over 80 with first dose and giving the second in FOUR months. Who can assure us this isn’t a freaking waste of vaccine when it’s recommended the second dose be given in 21 or 28 days?

  6. We are already seeing the fallout among senior and mid level bureaucrats. They are getting huge wage increases to keep their mouths shut.     The Emergency Use approval by the FDA is based on the premise that there are no known drugs that can treat COVID. That is why HCQ, Ivermectin and other valid treatments were suppressed. To get pharma possibly trillions in revenue. The public has been betrayed by their government and public sector by going along with this charade.

    People often mention how successful the draconian lockdowns in Australia were, but they had very few cases to begin with, so I do not think they prove anything. And we see little mention of similar success in Tanzania with its population of 60 million, and 26 Covid deaths — no lockdowns! They did have some sort of treatmment — I believe anti-malarial drugs. Sadly, Tanzania has just lost their President, to a sudden ” heart attack.” This happened just shortly after Bill Gates announced that President Magufuli had to be “reigned in.” He seemed to be thumbing his nose at the WHO.

  13. My brother-in-law in the UK died at the weekend (cancer). My sister-in-law is in a very fragile state and has no close relatives for support (they had no children). In normal times either my wife would travel there to support her, or ideally, we would welcome her here for as long as she wants to stay – that way she would not be surrounded with all his things and her memories.

    Of course, that is not allowed. Residents of the UK are simply forbidden to enter Canada for non-business purposes, and even if she were admitted, a stay in one of Justin’s covid jails would be on the menu. For Mrs A to travel to the UK, she would likely be placed in a British covid jail for 10 days, at our expense, and then again back here when she returned.

    We are fearful what sister-in-law might do in her despair. I cannot figure out any way to sensibly get my wife and her sister together.

  15. The biggest fallout will be the long-term economic damage that people won’t explicitly connect to Covid.

    Ten years from now when that hospital isn’t built or there’s no money from that start-up or taxes are sucking an extra 6% out of everyone’s income to pay interest on the debt and our dollar is 52 cents etc. Etc.

    No one will realize this was a turning point for how shitty things will be then.

    Recently, Bonnie Henry flippantly said that the vaccine isn’t a “ get out of jail free” card.
    Earlier she said the vaccine is “amazingly effective”.
    She should go directly to jail, along with Tam, the Liberals, and all the other treasonous bastards.

    1. I just lost a family member to undiagnosed COPD. Granted she was in her 70’s.
      Nevertheless, she might still be here if it had been caught in time.
      To date, I know no-one who has contracted Covid, much less died from it. Perhaps I’m fortunate that way.
      However I now have a family member whose death can IMO at least be partly attributed to the restricted access to health care that we’ve experienced over the last year.
      And yes, I blame Bonnie Bullshit for this.

      BTW “Lockdowns” are also what bed-wetting liberals do to schools when someone takes a camera tripod out of a trunk three blocks away. It’s a useless leftist thing and I’ve always despised the very concept of it for that reason.
