Over the past few months, our government has helped companies re-tool their manufacturing facilities and massively scale-up production to meet the demands of this crisis.
And I want to thank every entrepreneur and every worker who stepped up to contribute to this fight.
As we start to reopen and some people head back to work, the need for personal protective equipment and other essential supplies like hand sanitizer and disinfectant will continue to grow.
And we’re making sure we’re ready for that.
On Saturday, a ship carrying 160,000 litres of hand sanitizer arrived in Vancouver and we’re expecting seven more ships with hand sanitizer in the coming days.
We also have almost 1 million face shields and more than 7 million pairs of gloves on their way to the provinces and territories.
According to Blacklocks (paywalled) there were no ships, and the actual number of gloves was 600. Shiny just … made it all up.

Update @brianlilley – Big news requires big answers. The doses of the AZ vaccine we will get this week expire on April 2 according to multiple sources. Future doses will expire in June. Meaning provinces need to rush this vaccine out even as federal advisory group says limit use to under 65.
On Saturday I’m going to a virtual town hall with Oh Tool. My question will be “Is there any plan in the works for when you might start doing your job as the official opposition and start actually holding this government to account?”.
Never mind the tough questions, James. At least ask him about changing his party name to “Progressive conservative party of Canada” or “Conservative (in name only) party of Canada” instead.

Until & unless Trudeau steps down, I don’t think any federal election is winnable by the CPC. This is what Canada is: a Liberal Party of Canada fiefdom, that only gets turned over to the (C)PC party when Liberal corruption simply grows too foul to bear, and then only until the LPC puts a shiny new leader in place that is acceptable to the populace at large.
Canada is a ~65% progressive country, and only getting moreso each passing year. I suspect we will not see a federal (C)PC majority ever again.
It would be winnable if the party leader did his job unlike this one. There’s so much damn material here it should be a landslide.
If O’Toole goes hard on the attack, he’ll be savaged by the media who’ll say he’s only attacking Trudeau and offering no solutions of his own. As soon as he offers his own policies, if they’re even a smidgen too far to the right, he gets savaged for going hard conservative. If they’re too centrist, he’s just being Liberal-lite and not a real alternative.
Find the way out of that maze. Oh, and if you do think you find the exit, the media & the Liberals will just move it on you.
