Nice University you have there. Be a shame if something happened to it.

Check out the comments on the above link as well.

  1. The “supply managed” dairy industry in this country regards itself as above surveillance. Like an organised crime syndicate but with a holier-than-thou attitude.
Ask them how much milk they have dumped on the ground since the onset of COVID, to keep retail prices artificially high for Canadian families. It’s actually kind of sick.

  2. Big thanks to the dairy cartel for helping everyone get a better understanding of how “science” works these days.

  3. Open the damn border with the USA and allow us to vote with our $$$$, US milk, butter, cheese. sour cream, ice cream etc.

Canadian dairy farmers are the biggest whiners and most subsidized farmers in the world.

  4. Sure, we know that we pay more for dairy products than Americans do. Our costs are higher and our cows do not the BSG injected into them to increase output. Plus, all it takes is for the Yanks to say no milk for you, and we are screwed.

The increased price, to me, is like an insurance policy. That being said, the cartel nature of the dairy industry does not help as Big Dairy effectively swamps the little producer and the factory dairy farms are the ones hiring temporary foreign workers, who more than likely were the ones abusing dairy cows last year in BC (I say probably foreign because they were not publicly identified or charged).

Back to my point, I will not complain about current costs of dairy if current prices were regulated and quotas were dropped. If small family farms can bring milk into the big box stores and we could get real grass-fed dairy products and real unpasteurized milk if we wanted it, then that is something I can live with.

  5. I remember back in the 60’s when there was a dispute with the dairy farmers I believe it was over Quotas . There was hundreds of thousands of gallons of raw milk dumped. It was at that point the Quota system for Milk, Eggs Grain should have been scrapped, Look what happened with our Durham Wheat sales when the Govt. screw it up. Our farmers lost millions. Just my 2 cents worth……Steve O

  6. I want fat free cheese options. It’s so strange to have a government mandated minimum of milk casein content for no reason other than to protect a market for milk producers. As soon as the border opens, I’ll be exporting some Canadian dollars from our economy.
