Minneapolis is planning to spend $6.4 million to hire dozens of police officers, at a time when some City Council members and activist groups have been advocating to replace the police department following George Floyd’s death.
The City Council voted unanimously Friday to approve the additional funding that police requested. The department says it only has 638 officers available to work — roughly 200 fewer than usual. An unprecedented number of officers quit or went on extended medical leave after Floyd’s death and the unrest that followed, which included the burning of a police precinct.
Isn’t that the city where a diversity hire murdered an unarmed woman?
That’s exactly what they will get, a bunch of diversity hires in it for the paycheck and the power. I can see it now, “Look at me, look at me. I’m the police now” ( I’m sure most of you will get that reference)

That’s true ………the officer in question panicked and shot a white Austrailian woman living with her boyfriend who was flagging down the car for help. Officer Noor ( fired shortly after the shooting ) was convicted of third degree murder but avoided the second degree charge.
It was a bad shoot …a white woman in pajamas running down the alley isn’t a threat to two officers in a squad car at least the jury didn’t think so.
He didn’t panic, officer Cartman got enraged and executed her in cold blood, with intent of hiding behind qualified immunity. He should have been hanged, publicly, in front of the cop shop.
Pretty hard to recruit people to be police officers when the same politicians that rely on their lives on the line for their security, become hypocrites by pandering to groups who the media sensationalize as being discriminated on.
The politicians fail to understand the populous demographics and the migration of districts where people move for safety reasons as areas degrade.
Monetary inflation is never in consideration and policy changes.
I don’t care if they fire them all and the place turns into a bigger shithole.

This morning I was watching a Seattle RealEstate channel on YouTube. Nordstroms (HQ) is drastically reducing its office footprint in down town Seattle by, if memory serves, 700,00 sq ft. Don’t hold me to that number. There has been a significant exodus of all kinds of business. Parts of Seattle look like Detroit. It was a double whammy with the implosion of tourism from SeaTac and the cruise ships. What’s the impact on real estate tax revenues, head tax revenues, sales tax revenues, hospitality taxes, property values, rents, real estate loans, insurance rates…….? Voters who did not support the riots and/or lockdowns are left holding the bag, while the affluent trust fund hags flee to spread their lunacy to Montana, Idaho, Utah, Colorado….
It’s mind boggling. The pols and their voters are strangers to the idea of unintended consequences and strangers to the idea of entropy. They are oblivious to the concept of tipping points and the possibility that once a downward spiral begins, it is self perpetuating. It feeds on itself. For example, defunding the police accelerates the decline of safety and commerce, which reduces business activity and municipal revenues. Defunding moves from being a slogan, a whimsical choice, to a necessity as city tax revenues dry up. And, as the downward cascade rolls on, it becomes increasingly difficult and costly to reverse.
If they listened to Jordon Peterson, they’d know that entropy is a constant and can not be defeated; it can only be kept at bay, requiring constant vigilance.

Because the social workers – who get the call first – ALWAYS tell the dispatcher to let the cops handle it.
The only time the social workers take the call is when 1) it is a convenient time, which is rare, and 2) they know the perp well enough that there is no risk to themselves, also very rare.
Even now that funding has been re-routed to social services, the cops will still end up doing the call.

Go talk to some employees of jails, especially those who work in youth detention centers, like 2 of my extended family did. Social workers can not deal with the troubled youths, as they are rebelling because of passed abuse. You can only deal with them once they have been calmed down. And the same problems exist with in Female detention centers, the after math of abuse, much of it inflicted by the “church”. Deal with the source of the problem, religion, and I know that from personal experience, and from input by people who have worked in the field. Social workers can NOT handle even w 14 year old troubled kid, I know as my 14 YO daughter punched one out, just one pop, and game over!
And you assume cops are idiot thugs? My daughter is a social worker; she used to work Child Protective Services. She had nothing but praise for the police who responded with her to calls.
Part of the plan. The family of the white lady shot by the Somali cop got close to $6 million on a wrongful death suit. The previous mayor of the city dropped all kinds of standards to get the “nervous” fellow in the department in the name of Diversity.
I understand that the next mayor (the current one) ran on a platform of opposing Global climate Change, since all the other problems of the city had been solved. It all makes sense when you understand that the police union kickbacks fund the politicians campaigns. But to keep the dollars flowing, you don’t actually need people who insist on enforcing the law…just people who pay their union dues.
