Florida governor Ron DeSantis will be the GOP frontrunner for 2024, if he chooses to do so.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced a major push to curb Big Tech’s political bias and censorship today, with measures including a ban on the censorship of political candidates and mandatory opt-outs of content filters for citizens of the Sunshine State.
In a 45-minute speech, the governor identified Big Tech companies as the leading threat to American democracy and freedom of expression today, and pledged that Florida Republicans would take action. The new regulations announced by DeSantis include:
Mandatory opt-outs from big tech’s content filters, a solution to tech censorship first proposed by Breitbart News in 2018. A private right of action for Floridian citizens against tech companies that violate this condition. Fines of $100,000 per day levied on tech companies that suspend candidates for elected office in Florida from their platforms. Daily fines for any tech company “that uses their content and user-related algorithms to suppress or prioritize the access of any content related to a political candidate or cause on the ballot.” Greater transparency requirements. Disclosure requirements enforced by Florida’s election authorities for tech companies that favor one candidate over another. Power for the Florida attorney general to bring cases against tech companies that violate these conditions under the state’s Unfair and Deceptive Practices Act.
He’ll be hard to beat.
Follow up: Tucker Carlson interview with DeSantis.

How long before Mittens Romney, That Turtle guy and his FOB ChiCom wife bury the FL Gov.?
After all … they want a “half-Hindu woman *cough* *cough* conservative” … like Nikki Haley
Everyone is forgetting that Trump won in a landslide — and he’s not President (yet). If the fraud stands, the Dems will “win” every election from now on. Forget 2022, 2024, any future year. We’re done.
You are absolutely correct.
If Trump runs in 2024, it must be Ron DeSantis as VP
A real VP, proactive ! and Trump successor, 2028.
On a side note.. and sorry off topic but related.
Pence blew it, all he had to do was contest the Electoral College submissions of the five (SUSPECT) States.
Demand an investigation, fraud would have been proven, Trump would be president.
Pence could have been the next Potus 2024.
Hit those tech weenies right in the keister
Bravo!
DeSantis 2024!
Let the market sort it out.
The market cant sort out stuff like the mafia or pravda.
they won’t even blink at $100,000 a day
…just pay it and double down
$100.000 x 21 million Florida residents?
That might work.
$100,000 is a minor accounting round-off error to those outfits.
They’re like the gang in the third Die Hard movie. After the heist, the leader, played by Jeremy Irons, says, “Yesterday, we were an army without a country. Tomorrow, we decide which country to buy.”
Maybe the fine should be aimed at the CEO and the Board, along with a requirement for the tech company to openly publish the court findings and the names of those who were punished. Once ylou have them by the scrotum, their hearts and minds are soon to follow.
No, the $ 1,000,000,000 to $ 1,000,000.
How soon can we get O’Toole down there for some training??
Jeez, it’s nice to see leadership IN PERSON for a change.
Wow!
By the way it seems that we are looking forward to another 6 weeks minimum of our PM hiding under the bed?
Correct me if I am wrong?
6 weeks? Are you optimistic? Multiply that by 52 and you might come close.
“How soon can we get O’Toole down there for some training??”
Soon as we get him to stop pissing and whimpering under the bed
O’Toole is a tool. I am so disappointed in him. he’s even worse than the guy who lost last time. Where’s a Canadian Trump when you need one?
Sure, these are frigging awesome ideas… at least until the Dems get away with stealing the next Florida governor’s election.
Not happening. De Santis cleaned up election fraud in Florida. It was one hell of a battle with law suits and threats from the Democrats but in the end because he had the law on his side and he persisted, he did it. He is an example of what happens when you do stuff like that. I’m not sure why so many Republicans fold in the face of fraud because Republicans are the majority in the USA. I think its because if you are a RINO you’re actually a Democrat who can only stay in power by committing the same fraud yourself. (Kemp I’m looking at you when I say that.)
Yeah, there’s a King Pyyrhus on line two for you.
One thing the right likes to do is point out that the left’s stupid ideas always, always have unintended consequences. And yet here they go, with a bunch of poorly thought out regulations that are going to blow up in their face when people realize how they can be gamed.
Punishing private companies for not allowing a political candidate to use their property for his campaign is a non-starter. It’s a flagrant and ludicrous violation of the First and Fifth Amendments. I hope you all enjoy this brave new world you’re making for yourselves.
So what are you crying about now, dear?
Worried that if the fascists have freedom of speech, only the fascists will have freedom of speech?
Guess what. Anybody with his head screwed on right knows that the only truthful thing a globalist ever says in public is “I want a lawyer!”
The poison that you peddle in the marketplace of ideas only has value because it is heavily underwritten by wealthy men who hold western civilization in contempt, and want it replaced by something more to their corrupt tastes.
Those men will not allow good, honest men to speak the truth if they have any choice. They crucified Jesus just for that.
The Truth shall set you free. Consider that the absolute last thing Wall Street and Beijing will permit given any choice is to allow man to be free.
Danny BOY, does it matter whether git shot with a 30 cal or a 40 cal, as it is now it’s a shit show, so how much worst can it get?
So what is your solution to stop the censorship of any/all non-Maoist thoughts on asocial media? It’s all fine and well to say that these are “private” companies, but when they deliberately “disappear” certain viewpoints AND pressure OTHER companies to restrict them as well, that’s restraint of trade.
Daniel still thinks it’s 1985. His political opponents are weaponizing monopolies to not only gain power but destroy their opponents and he’s worried about the Fairness Dictrine returning. You can’t fix that kind of stupid. They’ll be hauling him off to the gulag and he’ll be rationalizing how its better that than the real evil of regulating the big tech monopolies.
More please. Republicans want a fighter, especially with how far left the Dems are moving the country. We don’t need some squish like a Romney, McCain, Jeb!, etc. The RINO Repubs are not the future. I’d be happy with this guy in 2024 or maybe Kristi Noem, who would certainly be easy on the eyes 😉
Why keep talking about 2024? Elections are finished. They just got away with the biggest steal in history. Everything from now on is just a joke. The fix will be in for evah. Same in this shithole to the north.
Oh no, isn’t he worried that Brian Stelter and Jimmy Kimmel won’t be his friends?
Florida, still my favorite place. Looks like I may never get back there. Oh well, such is life or lack thereof.
Governments trample all over property rights all the time and always have.
In urban settings they regulate if and where you can plant a tree that they have approved of.
They sell hunting (trespass) licences allowing hunters to trespass on private property.
Regulating big tech would be no different than regulation of many businesses that operate on private property.
“Regulating big tech would be no different than regulation of many businesses that operate on private property.”
Two wrongs don’t make one right.
I hate to keep bringing Sundance into conversations around here, but he’s already pegged DeSantis as a 2024 candidate, unfortunately one who won’t win, because he’s not “one of them.” He checks an important box in that he’s governor of Florida, which gives him lots of contacts & credibility in a critical early primary state (in many ways it is perhaps the most important), but he’s simply not going to have the big money donors lining up behind him. The establishment isn’t going to be behind him. They’ve made their choice and it’s Haley.
Trump could circumvent all of that because of his fortune and his fame. He didn’t need establishment backing, he didn’t need big money donors. If you need one or more of those things and don’t have them, Florida is the death trap primary. It’s big, it’s populous, and it’s EXPENSIVE to wage a presidential primary battle there. Haley will have the establishment and the money. DeSantis may not have either.
If it does come to pass, Haley v DeSantis, then Florida will be for all the marbles, and we shall see if the GOPe has retaken full control of their club, or if the Trump/MAGA movement can find a new champion and once more shove him down the throats of the GOPe.
Awesome Desantis move to Canada!!!!! CBC should be fined $100,000 a day for the crap they put on!!! Wow, wait they run on our money!
Maybe we should just kiss their ass goodbye!
It’s frustrating that so many conservatives have misidentified the underlying problem.
In spite of the hostility he faced for stating it, Daniel Ream is correct about the answer NOT lying in new regulations compelling political speech.
The underlying problem is the vast tech monopolies and obvious anti-trust actions that have been permitted to grow unchallenged by the government. BREAK. THEM. UP! Enforce the existing laws, allow competition in the marketplace, and the muzzling of conservative ideas becomes a non-issue.
