  3. And yet…… on the 4th……
    The Don now wants to create a fenced theme park to contain the USA’s statues of its great figures of history. Looks like they won again.
    This instead of immediately protecting the existing historical monuments. He’s the C in C and therefore has all the resources he needs regardless of what Democrat Mayors think. His actions, rather than words, are not much different in this matter than Hillary’s would be.
    The White House might be reasoning that the cultural humiliation being visited upon America while the Don sits on his hands will blowback against Biden’s replacement in Nov….I’m not so sure.

    2. He is also using some existing laws regarding the protection of monuments, and the vandals are looking at prison terms of up to 10 years.

    Perhaps Canadians might consider the debt we owe the USA,our entire welfare state is based on the premise that the USA will protect us from our own stupidity.
    So we do not bother to maintain an effective military or Coastguard.
    What happens when the USA gets sick of providing military protection to a bunch of whiney ingrates who reward the Killer of a USA serviceman with a $10.5 million bonus?
    Just imagine how much more aggressive our owners would be,if the USA said “No”.
    Given how pathetic we are as allies,would they not get more cooperation and active help from whoever takes this empty land over?
    After all we out west,also know the “value” of a Laurentian promise.

    1. The better question is, what happens when the US tires of the noise from Venezuela north and truly seals the border, from the movement of economic goods.

  6. July 4th isn’t just the birthday of a nation.

    Today, Eva Marie Saint (who I’ll always remember from the Alfred Hitchcock film North by Northwest) turned 96 and Gina Lollobrigida is 93. Congratulations!

    1. Louis Armstrong always claimed he was born on July 4th. It wasn’t until after his death that it was discovered his birth date was actually August 4. I’ve forgiven Louie for his little ‘gag’. He was a patriot and loved his country.

      I was thinking about him today and a song he did with his buddy Bing. ‘Gone Fishing’ a classic.

          Nobody would dream of singing Gone Fishing today let alone a black and a white guy. Lyrics like, “There’s your hoe out in the sun where you left your work half done.” Yikes.

          I don’t care I love the tune and so did Louie and Bing.

            I have to link this song below because of the story about the first fish I ever caught as a kid. It was about 4 inches and was caught from Lake Champlain, Vermont. I was so thrilled, I merely used a tree branch with hook on a fishing line. A simple thing yet so much joy.

            As an adult I rented a cabin on the same Lake for a whole summer with some other young people. We had a real battle of the sexes that year after we defrosted the fridge and made snowballs. Were the lazy ones on the beach ever surprised when we attacked them!

            Tomorrow is the full moon. I have the American holiday on my mind, the memory of going fishing and some pretty wonderful BBQ’d meals with all the trimmings and some pretty boozy drinks.

            I dedicate the following song to everyone who is trying to enjoy the summer despite the crap going on.

            Great stories.

            I consider time fishing as time well spent. I’ve spent countless hours by, ‘A shady wady pool’ as the song goes.

            ‘Moonlight in Vermont’ – I love that song. When I was a kid just barely started to listen to jazz I heard an obscure guitar player Johnny Smith play Moonlight in Vermont. I was totally taken by his playing. I think it might have been my introduction to guitar as a jazz instrument.

            Another strange thing about the tune is that the lyrics do not rhyme. It’s one of the few pop tunes like that.

            Tonite when that old moon rises I’m going to think about listening to Johnny Smith play Moonlight in Vermont and how it influenced me as a young guy. He wrote the Ventures smash hit ‘Walk Don’t Run’ which launched them on their career as a top instrumental band in the 60’s.

            I recognize drummer, Max Weinberg in the video, he was a guest drummer here and a drummer for the Conan O’Brien Late Night Show. Conan is third cousin to actor, comedian, Denis Leary)

  7. Kayne West is going to run for President apparently. Elon Musk has announced his support.

      1. I think the votes Kayne will be stealing will be from Democrats. He might also dtop out at some point, but he at least changes the set in stone mentality of Trump vs. Biden. When he attacks the Dems, he will be listened to by many Blacks.

    No matter, he was a patriot. As portrayed by James Cagney:
    “I am a Yankee Doodle dandy, Yankee Doodle do or die. A real life nephew of my Uncle Sam, born on the Fourth of July.”
    “Over there, over there, send the word, over there, that the Yanks are coming, the Yanks are coming …” People were lying about their age, young and old, to GET INTO the army, and be part of that horrible ordeal in the trenches, because they believed in the greatness of America, even if the war did not directly affect us.
    And I am proud to be a nephew of Uncle Sam, even if adopted. And the Fourth of July, 1776, was my spiritual birthday, when the greatest collection of statesmen the world ever knew, got together to form a brand new form of government … a republic, gentlemen, if you can keep it. These are trying times, but God works HIs will in mysterious ways through unconventional hands, even as He spread His Church via the hands of Saul. 2016 saw a miraculous rebirth of the republic, against all odds. And there is no doubt it was truly a miracle, and I have faith it will continue.
    Happy birthday, America.

    Until then, my sympathy will go to the people of Canada!
