  2. I laughed out loud toady when I saw the news reports from the fake news lefist TV networks concerning abandoned oil wells in Alberta. Like, hello!! If the footage shows a donkey with its pulleys turning and the donkey bobbing its head up and down, it’s pumping, and hardly an abandoned well. What next?? They’re going to film fire hydrants and call them abandoned wells?? That’s almost as bad as the footage that the CBC runs of oil refineries and power stations operating in -40°C weather. The whole exercise is to exaggerate the carbon emissions coming from the plants.

    Back in the 1950’s here in SW Sask, a lot of people witnessed companies (IE Mobil) spending a lot of money on seismograph and drilling. Back then oil companies never disclosed if they had struck oil or not. They would leave, and nothing was left behind to show where the wells were, except the odd patch of alkali where they drilled. My Dad always claimed that some of the wells would one day yield helium. How he knew that I don’t know, he was a farmer and a service station operator. I was only about 10 at the time, Dad died over 30 years ago . It turned out he was right.

      That’s not many wells producing helium when you consider the thousands of wells drilled across Saskatchewan over the years. I remember those wildcat wells from that era and they were drilled all over Saskatchewan. The young guys working those rigs always had fancy late model cars that impressed the hell out of us local rubes. The rumors heard and endlessly repeated were always about the huge amounts of oil and gas that was being found and how it was just being capped for now but it would surely be developed at a later date, when oil and gas prices increased.
      Nope. Oil and gas is a bit harder to come by than that.

    Mrs. OB was channel surfing, and CBS and NBC both had what looked like variety shows with each performer in his own home. The CBS program was called “Global Citizen” and the NBC one was called “One World.” She didn’t get to ABC or FOX.
    Anyone who is truly a global citizen or believes in one world should try living in Somalia, South Africa, or Venezuela. Not to mention China or Iran.
    With western Europe deteriorating rapidly, I can’t think of too many countries I would spend even three months in, outside of the good ole U.S. of A. Maybe somewhere in eastern Europe, like Hungary, Czech Rep, or Poland, if they get out of the E.U. Okay Taiwan.

        BTW, if you check the data on infant mortality in the U.S., it is not so sterling on first blush. The U.S. generally ranks about the 30’s, but there is reason for it due to difference of reporting. First, many countries, most EU countries, only report as live birth if the baby survives a period of time, a week or more, depending on the country. Second, almost every other country aborts the baby if it is born with severe congenital problems or malformed. If the mother wants the baby, the U.S. hospitals generally spare no effort to insure a life birth, even if the baby is not expected to live long, and it is reported as a live birth. That of course percolates to the live expectancy data.

    2. Good question. I have started an online course about modern art. The course uses Coursera which is an online learning software with lots of free courses. Also attempting to pare down possessions and unnecessary clutter. A friend of mine has written a memoir of her early years. It is a nice keepsake for family. I will tackle that next. You are probsbly not supposed to, but I have done a few trips to nearby towns for walking around/exploring. Spent way too much time reading about the virus. Hard to get away from.

  9. A big story on Blackie’s CBC this morning is that health care workers in Alberta are complaining about defective masks. The masks came from, you guessed it China. In wonderful China Christians are being arrested for celebrating church on Zoom. CNN continues this morning to trash Christian churches. And the media reports that mosques in Pakistan will remain open during Ramadan Ding Dong. This makes sense since Islamic leaders have already stated that the China virus only attacks the infidels. Remain safe during this crisis, and convert to Islam.

  17. Today’s rant from Great Leader Shit For Brains, was basically just a repeat on how wonderful he is. He reminded everyone to wash their hands again and stay locked inside. He had one of his loyal Unifor journalists to ask him explain how evil the Conservatives are for wanting parliament to resume. As Great Leader said among other things, the media asks him questions every day, so why the need for days in parliament.

    2. The resolution of the after phot is not as goosd as the google maps before version. But there clearlty is a new big building, matching the scale of the old Harrington lake edifice building. There appears to be a wall around 21/2 sides of it, some parking lots and what else.
