The only horse that ran the stretch faster (accelerating) than the first 9 furlong of the race.. He took the lead and held it//Most horses are actually slowing down and endurance becomes the winning factor… He was exceptional and probably could have been faster if he had been pushed to his limit……Every race was a cake walk
One of the best ever – maybe the best.
I remember Jimmy the Greek handicapping Secretariat on tv. I think it was the Derby. His analysis was that Secretariat might win at a local fair but the Derby was going to be too much for him.
Making predictions is a mugs game and the Greek got it wrong that day. I think Secretariat broke the track record? Going by memory here.
The 70’s were magic in the thoroughbred game. Alydar and Affirmed went at it in ’78. Arguably the best sporting event ever.

After watching the Story I noticed that the clip
had two ABC personalities… Of note
The Best Broadcast Sportscaster, bar none, Peter McKay.. He could make a game of marbles into a contact sport…..
The absolutely worst ABC political news personality… Sam Donaldson ….Fake news incorporated. I hope to have a chance to piss on his grave
