        1. I didn’t understand any of it but I had the 1957 flu as a healthy 26 yr-old with small baby boy, a 7-yr-old son, and a husband who went to work every day. We lived in the country, completely isolated, so have no idea how I picked it up. Ran a temp of 104F with wicked aching body, just wanted to die but I had a baby to look after. Most of the people who have had the corona virus don’t describe symptoms as bad as mine. One young man in nearby town died but was only one in the area that I heard of. It didn’t compare with the 1918 flu from what I had heard about it which included grmother’s nephew who lived in the country, began to feel unwell while riding bicycle home after school and was dead in 3 days at age 13. His father, also healthy, had died in 1912 age of 30 due to acute pulmonary tuberculous lasting only 3 months.
          When someone can eliminate all contagious diseases I’ll be glad to hear it but be sure another one will come.

    I think the Liberals are privately taking the attitude that we can’t stop this so we’ll just pretend to take action. We’ll get the CBC to state over and over what a great job we are doing.

    Since most people who get sick will experience only minor symptoms, they’ll probably agree.

    Older people who get sick and die, are typically not Liberal voters so no big deal for the Trudeauites. There will be fewer people to oppose Trudeau’s policies.

      So what, I’m having fun:

      Wore a warm winter jacket, friggin toque, pajamas bottoms, winter Murrell swede mini boots and 2 pairs of gloves to shovel a foot of snow in -20°C (wind chill -28 at least)…weather over the last 2 days, shovelling twice each day.

      Shame on me…I had naps afterwards, no Tylenol or Voltaren at least. I’m like hb the blogger, I’m in shape now …mmmkay!!

      It was fun ‘tho, the birds were singing, the rabbits and the neighbours were hiding– snow was drifting, but at least winter is almost over, yes ba-bye!

      Now I have 5’ moguls on the lawn — ready for spring skiing anyone?

    3. I’m in the Caribbean right now. Vacation scheduled to last another ten days. This hotel (Hawksbill resort in Antigua) has hundreds of rooms but there’s only about 30-40 people here. Tonight I’m supposed to take the ferry to Montserrat.

      I think I’m better off avoiding the rush back to Canada and waiting a week. And if that means I have to stay on this beautiful tropical island indefinitely, darn.

        The piled high snow here will take until May to melt! Our winter in Calgary was rather mild — we get a St. Paddy’s storm mostly every year.

        In 1998, it snowed March 17, 18 and 19th totaling 40 to 42 cm.

  9. I had an interesting thought — what if this is a hoax, and the real reason for shutting down the global economy is that some group of elitists actually believes the hype about climate change and came up with this cover story to reach those goals.

    I’m not saying there is no “wuhan flu” that is capable of infecting people, making some sick and a few very sick, but how is that a lot different from every winter’s flu outbreak?

    If this is a hoax, only a few people are in on the secret. Others have been talked into going along, and the political pressure is moving even skeptical types like Trump to act.

    If I am right about this, I think we might never find out, but we could, and it could come out into the open at any point in time. At some future point, a lot of people are going to be facing economic desperation despite not seeing a lot of evidence of a medical crisis around them. If there is a hoax involved, I don’t think it can be sustained more than two to four weeks.

    Watch and see. The alternate theory is worse, that the actual and dangerous COVID-19 is an engineered phenomenon with targets in mind (us). So rather than being a hoax, it’s a slow-motion genocide. This would change culpability to some extent, but whether hoax or manufactured and weaponized attack, heads should roll if we find any proof. I underscore the latter — proof is necessary, I would not want to act on rumours. But elites should be put on notice — we heard all the talk about the climate emergency which we don’t trust, and we heard some of you calling for reductions of the world’s population by up to 90%. So which is it? Were you blowing smoke, or did you mean it? (after all, you’re the elites, you’re smarter than us, as you keep saying).

    1. I’ve been watching and tossing around similar analysis. There could be a dry run mentality, in fact there’s definitely signs of it, pushing the people around to study the reaction, bear in mind our federal government has officially declared a climate emergency and are surely focused on calculating what they can get away with.

    2. It was all planned imo. There are so many cancellations affecting everything from some businesses, airlines etc even University cancellations, yet K to grade 12 students have to attend school, at least, that is the case, here in Alberta. Time will tell.

      Stock markets are affected etc.

        I also remember the flu of ’57. Was in high school at the time. We all listened to the morning report of how many absentees, hoping that the numbers would be high enough that school would be closed. Finally it was, which was just when I got the ‘flu. So I spent the extra “holiday” sick. Another bout came around in ’60 which I also caught, but it wasn’t so bad.

  21. Colleges and universities claiming they are moving to online courses is phony. Online courses require considerable time to develop. At best, they might be getting emails from a prof. Now there are lots of learning resources available online, but getting these to mesh with whatever has been going on in a classroom would be tricky. It may be that in future there may be more effort to move to online. Ontario teachers protest on this is futile.

  28. OK, here’s the good news. You can get both of the effective anti-coronavirus medications through Canadian pharmacies. The first one is the anti Malaria drug Chloroquine (phosphate).
