Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Because we are LOSING. We have been for decades. We allow our enemies to live in our country and we pay them to do so. WE ARE VERY STUPID. No one to date , that date being at least 70 years ago has been able to prove me wrong. I always look forward to someone who is smarter than me actually proving me wrong. So far it has not happened.
It was all part of the plan now wasn’t it? Engaged in useless, endless foreign wars. A page right out of Orwell’s 1984.
Afghanistan is a veritable hell hole and I’m convinced it’s unconquerable. Brits, Russia and others have had a crack at it, same result. And when Afghans are done with the foreign warriors they’ll break off into tribes again and start killing each other like they’ve always done.
IIRC the only bloke that managed Afghanistan was Alexander the Great
As a Canadian military veteran of three Afghan campaigns (2004-05, 2007 & 2011) we NCOs had the long term road to success solution for Afghanistan. To have platoon houses in most hamlets 24/7 – not to cower back to FOBs at sunsets- and educate, educate and educate young Afghans. This feasible option was trialed out in Iraq too with many “high risk, high payoff” advantages.
It was all about politics, wasting money and 26 comrades KIA in 2007 alone during my 7 1/2 months tour there.
My unit also took care of 102 insurgents from 02 January until late August 2007 in Kandahar province. Yup. I spent new year 2007 away from family just like I spent Christmas 2004 & another new year day 2005 in combat operations in same shithole.
Thanks Ray for your service.
My son did one tour through Afghanistan before Canada pulled out.
The Brits had their way with rebellious Pashtun insurrectionists. Filled their village wells in.
Russia, IIRC, was actually having its way too before the US started supply the rebels.
Afghanistan is not unconquerable it’s just not worth conquering. Aleksander beat them and went straight on through to India.
“Afghanistan is not unconquerable it’s just not worth conquering.”
Yes. It’s a wasteland shithole of a country.
If you look at it on a map you’ll see that it’s like a hub with quite a number of other countries surrounding it.
Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, China, Pakistan, None of those countries want Afghanistan to be part of their country.
True; nobody wants Afghanistan. They just want its mineral resources which are substantial. They of course being the USA. Oh and its on the route of the planned pipeline from the Cauacasus to the Pakistani coast which would of course bypass Russian Federation territory and put a big dent in Russia’s oil & gas business. Or it would have done 18 years ago, but not so much any more. Too bad the deep state can’t seem to update their nefarious plans to conform to current realities…but then!
The late George Jonas said something to the effect that the only foreign policy that made sense in countries like Afghanistan was to just keep supporting the underdog. If/when they ever attacked you, then go in, pulverize them, get to hell out, but leave your business card with a note to the effect that this was just a warm-up.
None of the islamic countries. can be conquered using the methods currently “acceptable” in the west.
The military war, the battles can be won, but in the end you’re left with a country that’s devoted to islam still, who’s people still believe islam… If you’re unwilling to fully conquer islam, then islam will rise again, with similar results, and you’re find it necessary to reconquer it every few centuries.
Islam can be fully conquered, but only in the same way as any idea is fully conquered.
Rats weren’t eradicated from Alberta by leaving “just the good ones”
exactly right…..
At some point, some nuclear armed country – my guess is France – will have had enough and will nuke Mecca and Medina, making the Hajj impossible for several lifetimes. That will effectively bring an end to Islam.
Exactly right, Ed Minchau. Islam is a very brittle ideology tied to things and places.
If the Hajj were made impossible, it would show the Muhammadans that their g-d was a false g-d.
marc, correct, islam was is and continues to be the problem and loving your neighbour is not going to work on a neighbour who’s religion says they are to kill or enslave you.
And all the while Mexico (on our largely unprotected Southern border) becomes a failed state run by drug cartels. If you can’t see the problem here it’s because you aren’t looking.
No there just isn’t a problem besides drug prohibition.
We spent 10 years wasting billions while spilling the blood of our young just to pull out and give it back. An enormous, horrific waste.
1) Should’ve been an extremely punitive brutal invasion with quick victory and exit.
2) Why does no one mention the war on drugs and its war on the war on the Taliban? By keeping poppies illegal money and power was funneled to the insurgents.
Why was Obama afraid of Flynn…He was targeted early in the Obama directed protection project!. He must know something they wanted negated…..Sometimes a strong ally gets dropped ASAP….
What does Flynn Know?
