The smartest people in the room are speaking.
“When we raise taxes on the poor, it’s good because then the poor will live longer because they can’t afford as many things that kill them.”

“I have 50 billion dollars so I get to decide how you live your life!” — some dwarf
This guy actually sounds pretty stupid to be honest.
Hand over all your wealth Bloomberg, you’ll live longer. Coal miners and military analogy is beyond ridiculous.
Who needs firemen, they’ll just go and save people and buildings. Don’t put out the fire, the poor will live longer that way.
He’s scary thinking death can be deferred by taxes, the very antithesis of the cliche. Another fake narrator running for Dems.
Sounds just like a Canadian liberal eh.
johnboy: Let Bloomberg keep speaking he will tax the poor NO ONE will vote for him. Bloomberg is a stupid A$$hole!!!!
I thought the mantra was “Tax the rich!”
Makes sense to me. If you can’t afford food you will lose weight. Millions of Africans can attest to that. And Hey if you can’t pay your rent, then you will be outside more. Obviously a heathier lifestyle.
For the love of God, please make these rich do as I sayers go broke and let them see what real life is all about.
Bloomberg and Lagarde are lucky they weren’t around during the French Revolution. Both of them would have a date with the guillotine. Perhaps we should bring it back now.
Sooooooooo tempted to make a t shirt for the last election with a picture of a guillotine and “vote early, vote often”.
You could borrow one. Then again, guillotines are not that difficult to make.
for good measure, market T-shirts with no opening for the non-existent head.
bloomberg. how the FCUK does a man like THAT get to be mayor of nuuu yawk.
oh, right, the leftist joooos are the majority.
Things like food, shelter, clothing, heat, proper storage/cooking of food, education.
But then, maybe not being able to afford things like going to Hollywood’s latest abomination, isn’t so bad……….
“we want the poor to live longer so that they can get an education and prosper”…
Gee, I always thought you got an education first, when you were young, then prospered and finally died when you were old.

yeah… let’s worry some more about “the poor”
let’s just forget about granny.
“She suffered 47 rib fractures and 94 blunt force
trauma injuries… but he says he never meant
to kill her.”

Proven:
Highly successful businessmen do not have to have any understanding of economics, whatsoever. Could there be a more stupid patrician thesis?: higher taxes on the poor will push them toward more life-extending behaviour.
That said, Donald Trump’s understanding of economics is not much better. Recall he warned about the funny-money stock market bubble well before he was elected and now is its cheerleader-in-chief, openly and loudly jawboning the Fed chairman whom he has accused of unpatriotic behaviour for tiny interest rate rises; exploding deficits and debt; and I gather he’s receptive to negative interest rates too!
I’m moving house soon and am actively considering tossing my beloved collection of Mises and Hayek’s books, for it shall never EVER be!
well dimwiittedtude, you should toss all books you own or have read if they are the basis for your exceedingly stupid post. Trump has been very successful as president, and maybe his past as a democrap is in the past, and he views things differently now
higher taxes on the poor will push them toward more life-extending behaviour
and so will sharp stakes 🙂
OMG – really???
But our nanny state is already doing this. Our gasoline taxes increase, our utility costs increase, fees and fares taking larger and larger chunks of our incomes. all the basic necessities are pricing the lower and middle classes into poverty. For our own “good”. Our disposable incomes are minuscule. Because of this, our homeless populations will continue to increase. Is this the kind of “long life” Bloomberg envisions for the poorer classes? Living in tent camps that the government can’t afford to clean of feces and diseases?
Bloomberg is PROOF that wealth and brains are mutually exclusive in many cases. Immense wealth does not guarantee intelligence, or common sense.
…..and he says these things…out loud….and has absolutely no comprehension of how they sound
Typical progressive tone-deafness. “Why can’t you understand that we’re doing this for your own good!”
Well all we gotta do is keep electing liberals and we can live to be 120, those high taxes will save us all. He!! the carbon tax alone should be good for at least 10 extra years!
“are pricing the lower and middle classes into poverty. ”
But isn’t that the goal. Make everyone dependent on the state. The communists are everywhere supported by the ‘useful idiots’.
We’ll tax the crap out of you for your own good!
Wealthy Audience: Applause.
The Poor: Got my vote!
Some assholes make me angry but he’s one of those assholes that makes me laugh.
The whole goal of our superiors like Michael Bloomberg is to tax their inferiors – us – into oblivion.
We inferiors are, in their minds, a threat to their existence, e.g., they accuse us of contributing to Climate Change, thus threatening the Earth, their home.
American Thinker has an excellent blog entry on Mr. Bloomberg:
https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2019/11/how_bloombergs_candidacy_helps_trump.html
That sound you heard was that of a presidential campaign imploding.
That clip is all that Trump has to play.
There was a day when I would have been outraged by such ignorance from a politician. But long ago now, progressive liberals wore out and finally broke my outrage meter.
With everything we have heard and witnessed from the partisan left these past few years, I think it would take a Pelosi or a Schumer pulling out a handgun and shooting Trump dead in the Oval Office to truly shock me now.
Tepid applause at best from a friendly audience.
He also says China is NOT run by a Dictator.

Looks to me Bloomberg is right, he is the”natural leader” of the Progressive Cadre of the USA.
Naturally the Boy Blunder will be using those same talking points to justify destroying the Western Provinces economies.
“Taxing the poor makes them live longer.”
“We are from the government we are helping you”..Into servitude and poverty.
Madame Guillotine is due a revival.
Um, not to be a stickler for details but nowhere in that video does he say the quote that’s attributed to him. I mean, it’s close.
Anyways, my loathing for that man is exceeded by that globalist, hatchet faced frog sitting beside him.
There is a good argument for for more regressive taxes than there exist in the US currently and that is that there is a much higher threshold for lower federal income taxpayers meaning a higher number of people have no skin in the game and have no disincentive to vote for more “free stuff” from an already bankrupt welfare state. Of course, all taxes are theft and the state should exist only as a minuscule fraction of its current leviathanesque presence.
Bloomberg is a paternalistic nanny-stater and his preferred tool is behavioral taxes. Like his fellow nominees, he would impose all kinds of new taxes if given the chance.
Some think that MB is just declaring his candidacy because apparently by law POTUS candidates get to buy Ad time for half what it costs for PACs.
Seems plausible.
Because if he thinks he has a chance tells me either he is delusional or that his advisors are.
Tucker Carlson expanded on this theory, that the REAL reason MB entered the race, was not to actually run for POTUS, but the purpose was to be able to run attack ads on TRUMP, constantly and often, using his immense wealth.
It might be thought he’s the “moderate” alternative if Biden continues to drop in the polls, or forget what country he is running for office in………he is well known politically, but his candidacy has barely rippled the waters, and likely won’t at all. Clearly a “Beeyonaire” enemy target of Bernie and Lieawatha.
Join the Clown Car Mikey.
Bloomberg:
LET THEM NOT EAT CAKE.

Translation of Mr. Bloomberg’s statement:
“You should be taxed more, because you are ENJOYING your POVERTY too much!”
Subtext: There are too many poor people consuming resources; so they should go away and die; because they might impact my hugely important self centered billionaire lifestyle.
An arrogant wanker to be sure… Mr. Bloomberg’s compassion and concern for the “poor” is a complete farce.
Just because one is poor doesn’t equate with living a dangerous lifestyle. It takes quite a leap of logic to infer that the poor waste their “excess cash” on cocaine, crystal meth or heavens sugar rich fizzy soft drinks.
I look forward to Mr. Bloomberg’s plan to make milk more affordable, rather than extolling the revenue cash cow he is presently milking!
Cheers

It was said by Ronald Regan that a liberal is someone that knows a great many things that are not true.
Using that as a means test, Bloomberg fits right in with the DNC.
Where have I heard this sort of thing from leftists before?
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/liberal-apologizes-for-saying-harper-day-care-bucks-may-buy-beer-popcorn-1.534811
This is why he told the news not to report on his campaign.
Great, now that he got rich through capitalism, it’s socialism for the rest of the population.
Do unto others whatever you can get away with.
And here I thought he was a tad less looney than the rest of the Dem field. No, he will fit right in.
His comments were ignorant and patronizing. And Lagarde and the rest of the applauding scummy globalists at whatever hoity-toity conference this was were appalling.
Did you ever notice that ONLY IN THE WEST….are many of the “poor” morbidly obese?
If you want to see poor people…..look in many third world countries. They are skinny, malnourished, and at risk of dying because they can’t get enough to eat. In America, the poor are FAT.
Maybe we should ask them to trade places…..the problem with being poor in America…is that they are not poor enough; apparently for Mr. Bloomberg.
Yes,,, I’m sure poor blacks and Latinos will be standing in line to vote for Bloomberg, they can’t wait to pay tax,,, especially if they’ll live longer…. yaaaaa riiiiiiiight
A perfect illustration of our betters telling us that they know what is good for us. This should kill his chances. “Tax the poor” “Stop coal killing people”
