    1. Tom Jones clone? Both had some great tunes, with their great pipes.

BTW … speaking of old acts of the 70’s, I finally saw 73yo Dave Mason last weekend at Tahoe (raincheck date due to his laryngitis 2mo’s. ago). He was worth the wait. Had a great time, and he sounded and played GREAT! He only played ONE of his most schmaltzy songs of the mid 70’s and instead played almost all of his old Traffic songs … including “AD Traffic” songs (After Dave, Traffic songs), including “Low Spark of the High Heeled Boys”.

And my favorite from his best solo lp “Alone Together”

      https://youtu.be/aHiXd9TNRYI

      First solo run at 3:05

And he ripped off a great rendition of All Along the Watchtower.

      1. Did he play his great seventies hit ‘We just Disagree’?
When Hendrix first recorded ‘All Along the Watchtower’ in GB, Mason was in there with his 12 string.

        1. Yes. But it was only one of two songs of that era he played. He made it very clear how he didn’t think much of that music. He spoke of how he was, and always has been a GUITAR player, not a singer. He said that “singing” was something he HAD to do as a solo artist … as the public demanded it … but he doesn’t fancy himself a “singer”.

Yes, he did a very nice rendition of All along the Watchtower … deliciously extended play. And as I said … he obviously feels most rooted in the Brit. Blues Rock of his Traffic days.

    2. I thought of Englebert last night and this morning when I shoveled about 8 to 12inches of feathery light snow in our winter world of climate emergency in Calgary, Canada.

I was so in awe that I did snow angels and curled up in a ball, it was so beeaauuttiiffuulll!

      Ahhhhh, bliss, oh rapture!

      https://youtu.be/POSHmwpjWaE

      1. Englebert…aka Arnold Dorsey – ha.

My fave is The Last Waltz (not that Last Waltz).

        He’s still going strong.

      2. I decided to give the snow angels a pass Nancy after I fed the pets this -28C morning and they gave me that ‘are you fn kidding me’ look.

      3. https://youtu.be/orCiC9-p7yE

        NOLD:
You! Ahhahahaha! So the pets are mad at you! Give them extra treats! Thanks for Englebert today! So wintererrrry here too! Imagine- we’re supposedly going into ‘Chinooking’ here!

        ABTRAPPERDUDE:
Thought you fell thru da ice! Don’t be doin’ any emergencies!
Humperdinck has one of the ‘bestest’ voices ever! Essentially he puts a lot of them to shame. “The Last Waltz” comes from another world!

        1. NR

Was on the ice again this morning. Went half way across and the cracking ice was ominous so I turned back….chickened out.

The Last Waltz is kitchin’ dancin’ music.

      4. This is my climate emergency.

I get up to go to work and the city ploughs have left a 2 foot high berm of dirty snow and ice at the end of my driveway.

          1. Bluetech…
Hoping this can get more comments here on SDA. Perhaps its own thread? Hats off to you, didn’t think the YouTube link was available yet.

The MSM should take a hike. What liars. Shame on CBC. We taxpayers are being taken to the cleaners with this greenshift. We said no to Stephane Dion and Trudeau the Deaf One, still stuffs it up our assets. Hasn’t the damage to Ontario been enough? Wynne and McGuinty should go to jail. This is a multi billion dollar robbery, and counting.

Canada has been destroyed and these politicians are unstoppable. What the hell?

    3. All the old 2nd and 3rd tier rockers from the 1970s are still pulling down 10 grand a night at hinterland casinos. Beats the government pensions.

      1. I understand Dave Mason lives “down the hill” as he said, in Carson City NV.

Here’s how smart a businessman he is … First, he escaped his HIGH TAX country of origin – Great Britain, Second, he escaped the HIGH TAX State of CA for the tax haven of Nevada.

Some old rockers survived their drug haze, with minds (mostly) intact.

BTW … he also played “Feelin Alright” which he wrote. And he flashed on screen ALLLLLLL the musicians who recorded their version of the song. All I could see was royalty $$$dollar signs$$$ flashing as literally 100 faces were projected. I’ll bet he can almost live on that ONE song alone

    1. He’ll serve a six-month sentence with an ankle bracelet at home, under our (in)justice system.

    2. “Corrupt a child through sexual immorality” is actually a charge, against him..

So how do parents, promoters and clubs of drag kids, transgender kids, etc. get away with it?!

Things that make you go “hmmmm”!

  1. The 17-year-old cousin of a former Conservative MP hopeful in the 2019 federal election and her friend have apparently been suspended from Stonewall Collegiate for refusing to wear a rainbow poppy.

Cyara Bird of the Little Black River First Nation, who was on the ballot for the Churchill-Keewatinook Aski riding of northern Manitoba this past election, took to Twitter tonight to express her anger after learning her cousin and another student had both been suspended for “hate speech” after rejecting the idea that rainbow poppies should replace the traditional red-and-black ones worn during their school’s Remembrance Day performance.

    https://www.thepostmillennial.com/students-suspended-from-canadian-high-school-for-refusing-to-wear-rainbow-poppy/

    1. I will not now or ever wear a rainbow poppy. Celebration of sexual perversion while ostensibly remembering the sacrifice of our young men is disgraceful.

      1. The only rainbow-item I’d fly – proudly, though I ain’t one of them – is the rainbow Gadsden flag that came-out after the Orlando nightclub shooting. Gays are traditionally considered easy targets because of their pacifist emotional make-up, but perhaps they’re learning that victimhood just makes more of them victims – this one was captioned, “Shoot back”.

      2. I agree with you, but even those who do not agree with the perversion designation should be opposed to hijacking the symbolism of this important commemorative event. It is like turning your backs on the vets.

    2. Everyone should read the story at Post Millennial about the two students suspended for refusing to wear the rainbow poppy. Leftists trying to put their own spin on history is nothing new. White poppies have been pushed for some years now by socialists.

    3. Look the history revisionists in the eye and say: I wear the red and black poppy ONLY, for red is the ONLY colour of the spilled blood of EVERY soldier who fought for our freedom.
No blue blood, no pink blood, no orange blood, no yellow blood…any colour other than red dishonour and spits on their graves. But you have that right to choose and be wrong!

      1. Heh. I still have a green-centred one; and it came-out long before the greeeen weeeeenies tried to take-over the world.

    4. I was at the grocery store where a longish lineup of young high school students patiently waited to buy their red poppies. It was a great sight to see.

    5. If true, the principal should be put in an excrement-filled trench for a month while the students take pot shots at him with soft air rifles every lunch hour.
Or maybe the coward should be made to read a history book.
      Or both.

    6. Perhaps the principal should wear a rainbow coloured suit … all day every day.

      Now that would be diversity.

  2. From Chuck Strahl @ NP:

    https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/election-2019/opinion-conservatives-need-to-stay-calm-and-give-andrew-scheer-time

It’s very good, and I happen to agree with his position (I live in Stratford ON, and it’s the view of everyone with whom I have spoken), but I needed a hook to make what follows legit in this spot.

Compare and contrast (juxtapose, as Kate would say):

    – Trudeau, Sr. campaigned in 1980 on suppressing fossil fuel prices in Canada (below world prices) in order to “protect” consumers and industry east of the Manitoba/Ontario border. Fair enough: one side wins, the other side loses — zero sum game. Win/Lose.

    – Trudeau, Jr., on the other hand, isn’t doing anything like that: he’s suppressing (he’s basically against the pipelines, to the extent that he thinks at all) the ability of Western Canadian producers to earn fair market value for their product (world prices) while he’s making consumers and industry east of the Manitoba/Ontario border pay more than market prices (world prices, plus the — escalating — carbon tax). Lose/Lose.

The narrative writes itself, and I’m pretty sure that there is a winning national election campaign strategy and message in there.

    1. DS, Trudeau and the insane socialists and green fools think that Canada can change the climate if only we work at destroying the country and the people. They will not stop until the level of pain causes death leading to a rebellion.

      1. What is the winning strategy, when all you have for choices is 4 shades of Communism. Over 60% of Canadians voted in a rigged election for one Communist Party or another. Generations of Communists brainwashing generations of Communists produce more Communists. Scheer subscribes to every policy of the LIB/NDP/Green Communists, the only choice left is for Provinces that are Conservative to get the hell out with a straight UDI. My Communist program is better than your Communist Program. HA HA HA.

        1. …..and in said new country (after UDI), one of the first things we need to ENSURE. Public Service UNIONS being OUTLAWED. Anyone even attempting to organize the Public Service..??
          10 yrs hard labour….North of 60.

THEY and the Media are at the Center of all the indoctrination of ALL things Leftist – Communist.

Long overdue for a North America country with RIGHT think…sorta like Hungary, Poland the Cech Republic etc.

          1. Yeah, Hitler did that too.

It’s a pendulum, Steakman – unions have swung far, far over to the left and need a bit of smackdown at the moment; but remember the good old days of 8-year-olds working 12-hour days down mineshafts? Today’s kids don’t – largely thanks to unions. Like lawyers, they’re an evil – but a necessary one.

          2. Don’t take this personal YKnott but I call BS, that is hogwash always trotted out, the wee kiddies slaving in mines. So what now they are in NIKE sweatshops. That yarn is worn as thin as the old leftwing reason for abortion. “There was a Dr. Feelgood lurking in every alley with a satchel full of coat hangers to perform 20 dollar abortions” Nobody ever caught him in reality. Maybe 1 Dr. Feelgood for every millionth woman. Unions in this day and age are useless. And Public sector unions should be illegal.

        2. watcher, I have been saying this for decades. I said it in print long before the internet. I was dismissed then as I am now. no matter how many times I have bitched about the communist electorate in Canada all the freaking socialists ignored me. who would of thunk.

        1. Be prepared for questions you should have known were coming. The guy was stiff as a corpse. Why did it take a week to say, “I’m a Catholic, of course I don’t believe in abortion, but the Conservative Party policy is not to change to abortion law.” The Supreme Court settled the matter 40 years ago. How were the vampiric mainstream media allowed to trap him? Only an idiot would be so unprepared. He had Trudeau by the sack on racism and repeated corruption and didn’t shove home the lance. And idiot couldn’t have lost the election. Scheer did.

          1. Scar

Not having smoothly and assertively delivered responses to those types of questions is definitely a losing strategy.

And it takes practice, practice, practice to deliver those messages.

            Obviously Scheer didn’t practice enough.

          2. Obviously Andrew Who didn’t practice at all, Joe – and all the egregious, corrupt, lawbreaking SJW-peoplekind-wastrel-spendthrift let’s-go-kayaking trash our present and former PM spent four years inflicting us with, didn’t even get a mention from Who. “I – and my equal, maybe-even-better-than-me colleague in charge of the Liberals, who’s done a WONDERFUL job these past four years and REALLY cares about global warming – well, we are both running for Prime Minister; but I’d really, really like it if you’d vote me.”

The egregiously obvious message was – “Trudeau is unfit to lead”. He spent four years proving that over and over again: Scheer didn’t even scribble it in pencil on a cocktail napkin somewhere, and he’s convinced a whole lot of peoplekind that HE is unfit to lead. Roll-on, Leadership Review; I hope Max is running again.

        2. certainly by not emphasizing transit and children’s activities as tax deductions which Scheer did during the campaign in his vain way of getting more votes. It put me off completely even thinking of voting PC.

    2. Bongo is going to have to reach out if he hopes to win a majority next time. Playing the same cards wont give him house money. He can’t grow.

Barring some sort of emergency this parliament will last at least 2 years so that those who are in their second term qualify for the gold plated pension. They’re there for us remember?

If the economy falters he wont be inclined to run as his record todate can’t produce winning conditions and coupled with a weak economy….

The latest poll taken a day ago suggests he hasn’t moved the needle

I doubt he will take many risks.

  3. Just a reminder that if you need your daily dose of Trudeau worship, our Great Leader will be making a brief appearance for a photo op with the premier of P.E.I. No media questions will be allowed. He then goes back into hiding. And lots of shootings in diverse Toronto last night. Two young boys were also murdered. Trudeau’s judges will be busy boys granting bail.

Diversity is our strength! -Blackie Trudeau

    1. – And his new Minister of Public Safety (whoever it is this week) will be busy pimping more gun laws. They’re just all really, really misunderstood, and if we all make ourselves helpless before them, why, they’ll do the same to us! Trust him…

The other approach will not be tried in Canada. Denninger points-out that Florida had a bad problem with car-jackings – a problem that vanished overnight when Floridians were allowed to carry guns in their cars without permits.

      1. Bongo will load up the cabinet with quebbeckies. He will want to send a message and have cabinet ministers who can spread the cash around. If he wants a majority next time the path is through quebek and to a lesser extent Ontario.

  4. Global warming alert! Lots of snow here in rural Ontario this morning, and its cold. Sure glad Blackie and his cabinet are concentrating on global warming scams this year.

    1. “Why does it take so long to extradite someone to the US?”

If your name is Leonard Peltier and the US brings enough fake evidence that wasn’t later used at his trial, it takes 10 months. They made up better fake evidence for his trial. I suspect if Peltier was actually guilty, it could have been quicker. He was arrested February 6, 1976 at Hinton and deported in December.

    1. Damn coyotes I shoot at every one I see even if you miss ,it keeps them afraid of humans. They are abundant this year ,shot 8 so far in the last month or so.

      1. I shoot at about one every year. As a citizen it is my duty. When I was 6 years old coyotes ran away when I was half a mile away because I am human and a threat. I want future generations to be able to walk a mile to catch the school bus without being eaten.

    2. “The Town of Collingwood has not responded (to the lawsuit) and has five years to do so.”
If this isn’t a typo some lawmakers need to be caned.

      1. Send them some Mackenzie Valley Northern Wolves. Thin the herd. Wolves have special digestive enzymes that allow them to absorb the toxins from fat assed Eastern Liberals. Let them harmonize with Gaia. The MacKenzie Valley Wolves are bigger than the extinct Dire Wolves everybody in fantasy land talks about.

    1. NZ another Green Commie Prison like Canada. Varying shades of Communism. If you want to break the cycle you have to purge all local government and schools of the bastards. That is where the cycle begins.

    2. What’s Jacinda going to do if a volcano erupts? Scold it? Fine it? She’s the antipodean poster bitch for the progressive ignoramus.

    1. If eggs are too tough for you to eat, might I recommend some backbone exercises – and lay off the soy – mimics estrogen.

      1. Yes very beautiful song. And I think if you have never been sad or down in your life you never can appreciate the good. Sunshine is beautiful, clear skys and all that but I do love a good storm. I like walking in a storm, or watching a wild storm come in, when I am in the mountains or along a sea shore. When I was a kid on the mountain, my Mom would beat my ass because I would go out in a blizzard to play, and not come in until dark, frozen and wet. These are my Cathedrals of my soul I think, I prefer nature to most people. Any way beautiful song. Smile have a good day.

        1. Ya,blind? Imagine that, yikes! When I was a kid I think I heard that song or some other painful blues. It occurred to me then that affairs of the heart must really hurt!
          Grown ups …sheesh!!

About the weather – it’s painful and beautiful.
Once got caught in a blizzard and had to walk home. There were icicles on hair and eyelashes when I got home. What a sight! In the Maritimes near the salty sea water the winter storms can make one have to be house-bound for days. The drifting snow makes plowing useless until the howling wind calms down. (They say ‘cams’ down, over there)

If ya nervous ya jus hafta cam down!
          Smiles !

          1. Pass the Cadfish, and she was a good Catlick. Good old Newfoundlanders. Never been down there met most of my East Coast friends here. I say mean things about the East Coast Politics. But my East Coast Friends are the salt of the earth and nothing to do with politics. Kitchen parties where very lively, card playing, somebody always dancing or singing and playing music. Almost makes me want to take up drinking again. Just kidding. I can have fun without it anyday of the week.
            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGG48U8ljNE&list=PLMzl7S5Ov2C6Mtw1hgPl-IbEqBTNhV8hF&index=3

          2. @5:50
I met a Newfoundlander in Calgary who I couldn’t understand. She had just arrived here. I swear, they speak like they just arrived from Ireland. Yet the Irish are easy to understand. Go figure.

The NB ers are easier to get. I lived there 18 years and realized that some, not all, were easier to understand on the phone rather than face to face. Yes their kitchen parties are a hoot. They aren’t shy to laugh loudly and dance.

OTOH if you come from Montreal, where I’m from, we tend to favor 2 syllable words. For example the city name is often pronounced as:
“Muntrul” instead of “Mont- re- al!” We sometimes slur through sentences! It’s faster! Ha! Can be an embarrassment too.

      2. I’ll give a suggestion for a depressing song,”Strange Fruit”.

The song was written by a Jewish American guy (going by memory) who saw a picture of 2 blacks hanging in a tree who were lunched in Marion Indiana in the ’30’s I think. Billy Holiday made it popular. The ‘fruit’ ( their bodies) is a metaphor for the fruit of a tree.

I read a book that featured the photo on the dust jacket, ‘A Lynching in the Heartland’ by James H. Madison.

        Grim.

        1. I really enjoyed the movie “Lady Sings the Blues” back in ’72. It was about Holidays’ life story and the whole sound track is Ross’ best work. She captured the depression in Billie Holidays’ voice to a T. ( She liked heroin)
I had a difficult time choosing which version to link between the two but sided with my sister from another mother.

          https://youtu.be/8clOP9tLw6o

  5. More of that bone chilling Global Warming. Looks like the cold front will go all the way south to the Gulf of Mexico. Everytime you see AGW Fake shit on tv or anywhere in media take the time to call their station and tell them they are stupid idiots and liars. Call your greasy shit house rat Politician and tell him you want an end to Carbon Tax and AGW BS. We are in a Grand Solar Minimum and next year will be worse.

    1. Animal “Rights” Activists….??
      That spells NAZI to me.

Unemployed Ignorance was a favoured quality of the early NAZI’s. One look to Ernst Rohm’s gang (SA), would confirm that. Personified today by your average AntiFa lowlife. All I can say, should I encounter such a situation….said “activist’…may not be very “active” moments thereafter.

  6. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/in-defence-of-climate-change-hypocrisy/ar-BBWpCFQ?ocid=spartandhp
    A pretty infuriating read.
The Ecotards are saying its the world’s fault that they’re hypocrites when they preach “renewables” but have to use oil and gas to exist. In fact, calling them a hypocrite is actually a non sequitur and a logical fallacy. Again: Its not their fault they don’t have a choice but to use nasty dirty oil and gas, the world forces them. One historical example of non-hypocrisy given in the article: slavery abolitionists having to wear clothes made by slaves was ok.
    #EcoFascistsMakeMeSick

    1. Buddy…one look outside and you know as well as I do, the CULL is coming.. Grand Solar minimum – Maunder style.

They are just gonna hate it, to have to use Fossil Fuels to stay warm & to get anywhere further than 8 blocks. Personally, I hope each and every one of those latte sipping nazi Eco-retards freezes Koque stiff while awaiting a food shipment that might never come.

  7. Blackie’s media is excited about a rumour going around that Waffen S.S. heiress Freeland may be put in charge of reaching out to the West. Because everyone in Alberta and Sask. loves our little Freeland. Who better to control the West than an offspring of Nazis.

  8. Oh Noooo! Jason Kenney chartered a plane for government business. Blackie’s CBC is outraged that Kenney flew a number of premiers to Saskatoon for a meeting. Katie Simpson will be on the story. Strange how the CBC never mentioned once about Blackie flying to B.C. at taxpayer expense to go surfing.

  9. According to the National Post website Canadians don’t care about Blackie’s scandals. He is so cool and wonderful, that is all that matters.

  10. Freedom Talk Conference on Western Separatism

One of the consequences of the election results is that support for Western separatism is intensifying. A conference organized by Freedom Talk will take place in Red Deer on November 15 and 16 to discuss this movement and how to prevent the breakup of our country.

Maxime Bernier will be the keynote speaker on November 16 and will discuss the political challenge of fixing Canada. If you want to attend the conference, you can register here.

    https://freedomtalk.ca/2019-nov-seventh-essentials-of-freedom-conference/

    1. SDA Gord Tulk will be speaking as well. I hope they make a video available that way someone could post it here.

    2. I am considering going to the conference.

Max Bernier as keynote speaker? C’mon.

Max turned out to be the biggest loser in the election. Did any of the PPC candidates even get their deposit back?

Max has no lessons to teach us.

  11. And now your diversity alert for this evening. Post Millennial website reports on a grenade being found at a Salvation Army facility in Ottawa. Merry Christmas!

  12. If you read the comments sections in the media, when ever Alberta is mentioned the hatred is very vile and real. They want us dead. You should see the attacks the founder of WEXIT is getting on twitter. MAGA. Make Alberta Great Again go UDI Alberta.

  13. Lorne Gunter. Trudeau’s Kiss Alberta Goodbye Strategy. Lorne knocks this one out of the park. Trudeau will double down on phasing out oil and gas in order to keep the NDP and BQ happy so he can cling to power. And they want Alberta oil shut down. About to get real for Alberta and the Eastern Bastards that elected Trudeau. Kenney best get out and buy a backbone or his ass will be gone.
