I read and hear this “goal” more and more. Am I missing something or is this physically even possible for human existence? What are roads going to be paved with if not asphalt? Electric snow plows are clearing highways? No more highway travel? All trucking electric powered? What are the tires made of? Is concrete disappearing? How are buildings being constructed? No more construction? All natural gas use gone so everybody heats their home with electricity? How is all that electricity being generated? No more industry? There’s been a Red Robin in my neighbourhood for more than 30 years. It’s about 10 minutes walk away from where I live.
I had supper there with some buddies this past summer. The food was OK but it wasn’t enough to make me a regular customer there.
I remember when the place was packed in bygone years but, when I was there, to paraphrase a line from that famous Fats Waller song, the joint wasn’t exactly jumpin’. I can’t say I’ll miss it when it closes.
Then again, in my part of town, it had a lot of competition. A few minutes walk away, there are several other restaurants, including an Olive Gardens and a Red Lobster.
I have at least four sports bars within walking distance here, that are major chains and at least three pubs that serve food, a little further away, which I’ve never tried. There’s a lot of the fast food joints around and also several famous rather costly steakhouses a short distance away.
When my relatives came to visit two summers ago, we went to one of the steakhouses and I was disappointed when I had a moldy piece of lime in my drink, and a rather overcooked tasteless baked potato, which I didn’t eat beyond one mouthful, but the steak was perfection. I kept my reservations to myself to save face with family remembers when I realized they were pleased with their meal. Haven’t been back there yet though.

Well finally leaving my Rocky Mt. Roost. Los Lobos. A 9-10 year old Grizzly has moved into area. Raided the neighbors chicken house. Kids keep calling to come down for the winter. My place is at 4000 ft elev. But it is so quiet and peaceful and so beautiful with the snow all around. Roads are getting dicey tho, been throwing chains getting in and out down the mountain. Meanwhile the Saskatchewan We Were Here First Nations say no way in hell is Saskatchewan ever leaving Canada. Independence talk is just that. Of course what would they know about independence.
This will allow the Federal Court to overturn the recent TMX approval, on the grounds that the consultation process did not take into account requirements of this new legislation.
It could also allow First Nations to stop immigration to BC. Immigrants will have to be housed somewhere, which will use land and require additional resource development. There is now a duty to consult and possibly get approval from First Nations prior to any new housing, roads, or other infrastructure being built.

Yesterday it was layoffs at Husky Oil in Calgary, today its all the Red Robin Restaurants in Alberta that are closing as of December 15th, due to under performance.

There’s been a Red Robin in my neighbourhood for more than 30 years. It’s about 10 minutes walk away from where I live.
I had supper there with some buddies this past summer. The food was OK but it wasn’t enough to make me a regular customer there.
I remember when the place was packed in bygone years but, when I was there, to paraphrase a line from that famous Fats Waller song, the joint wasn’t exactly jumpin’. I can’t say I’ll miss it when it closes.
Then again, in my part of town, it had a lot of competition. A few minutes walk away, there are several other restaurants, including an Olive Gardens and a Red Lobster.
I have at least four sports bars within walking distance here, that are major chains and at least three pubs that serve food, a little further away, which I’ve never tried. There’s a lot of the fast food joints around and also several famous rather costly steakhouses a short distance away.
When my relatives came to visit two summers ago, we went to one of the steakhouses and I was disappointed when I had a moldy piece of lime in my drink, and a rather overcooked tasteless baked potato, which I didn’t eat beyond one mouthful, but the steak was perfection. I kept my reservations to myself to save face with family remembers when I realized they were pleased with their meal. Haven’t been back there yet though.

Well finally leaving my Rocky Mt. Roost. Los Lobos. A 9-10 year old Grizzly has moved into area. Raided the neighbors chicken house. Kids keep calling to come down for the winter. My place is at 4000 ft elev. But it is so quiet and peaceful and so beautiful with the snow all around. Roads are getting dicey tho, been throwing chains getting in and out down the mountain. Not enough sun lately to keep the solar system up. I guess tomorrow I will head down the mountain for the winter, kids keep saying your a senior Dad, you should not be up there alone. Hell I am a young 70. Damn hurts my pride to accept I can’t keep up like I used too. Anyways enjoying some Ian Tyson. Springtime In Alberta.
