This “professor” is not really a professor. He’s a guy with a degree. He’s a total idiot if he thinks this will work.
The ONLY possible intellectual justification for putting your faith in this uniformly destructive and corrupt system of government … is to desperately cling to the belief that … “Socialism just hasn’t been done right -yet”. However, I have yet to hear anyone articulate EXACTLY what it is that needs to be changed in order to make Socialism (the confiscation of Private property) have a chance of working. “democratic Socialism” ? What’s that? Socialism with the Democrat Party in charge of it? Yeah … that’ll work … puhleeze.
There was one social experiment which had the ideal circumstances for socialism to work, if it is to work at all.
What happened after the Mayflower landed?
The governor (which they picked, I forgot his name) thought that everyone was a brother and sister in Christ, there will not be any private ownership. Everyone worked in the fields together, the harvest will be placed in a large common hold, and everyone eats together in the big hall.
Well it didn’t take them long to notice that Joe over there leans on his rake the whole day, and he and his family eat just as well as anyone else. The predictably poor harvest was exacerbated by a severe winter, during which I believe something like a third of the colony perished.
The next year the governor divided the land into private plots, and the colony started to prosper.
Here was the most homogeneous society you could find, who has traveled long and far together (from England to Holland before America) to avoid persecution, with a common heritage, a common faith, and a common purpose. If socialism were to work, this was it. It didn’t.
IYI
Intellectual.
Yet.
Idiot.

As the late Margaret Thatcher once said, the problem with socialism is that sooner or later the money will run out.
Socialism will win? Not bloody likely.
Guys like him are the product of stupid parents and public schools. Universities are where they all go to die.
So you have students, children of prominent dems, with no grades getting into the best schools. Then you have minorities with no grades, getting into the best schools, backed by the gun carrying government. Then you have Hollywood kids with no grades getting into the best schools by bribery. I don’t blame the Hollywood parents. The second segment of students seem to be the rable rousers.. Whitey this and socialism that. And I suspect the first segment do the same as the last segment, except it’s called donations.. Screwy system. I wouldn’t want to be a white male in a uni, with the red brigades running the place.
These people have no place in society and they know it. They can smash and smear their opponents all they wish but at the end of the day, they are still baristas at a local cafe because their anti-Israel gender studies degrees are worthless and mummy and daddy can’t fix anything for them anymore.
As I said, to die.
I went to RMC where artsmen had to take math and science and engineers had to take english and history. I understand that is not so in other universities. Is that part of the problem with most “intellectuals” math innumerate and/or illiterate in addition to proving common sense is not so common?
American bachelor’s degrees typically have what they call “general education” requirements. Everyone is required to take English composition, math, lab science, social sciences, history, and humanities courses in somewhat varying amounts. In Canada, not so much. An engineer I know had to take a gimme sociology course 3 times to pass – no English.
When I was an engineering undergrad, the arts/humanities courses that we were offered and had to select from were meant to broaden our education. To be honest, they did nothing of the sort.
I remember taking an anthropology course about technology during my sophomore year. A lot of engineering students were enrolled in my section because that was the only arts option we could fit into our timetables. The prof took enormous delight in mocking and reviling us, particularly when we actually offered technical arguments against what he was telling us in his lectures. (Yeah, how dare anybody whose discipline is technical in nature have anything to say in a course about technology?)
I eventually caught on to his game, adopted the GIGO approach, and aced the course. Fortunately, over the years, I’ve forgotten much of what he told us.
The only arts course I got something out of and actually enjoyed was one on Old Testament literature. It combined scripture and history, thereby giving credibility to both.
I also sang with one of the university choral groups during my senior year and that was an education in itself as it sparked my interest in classical music and opera. Interestingly enough, many of my fellow members studied either engineering or one of the physical sciences.
My daughter received a HISTORY degree from UCLA (in a uuuuge graduating class of thousands). She and her fellow students had to take such challenging courses as “The history of Rock and Roll” and “Feminism in Emerging Asian Nations”.
My son received a degree in MATH from UCLA (in a teeny-tiny graduating class, where 95% of the graduates had silverware names). His typical classes were; “The origin and application of Analytic Geometry”, and “Calculating Actuarial Probabilities”.
You do the math. If you can. The HISTORY majors cannot.
Simply put, prosperity has ruined us.
Bop, it sure has created generations of useless people.
Our prosperity has interrupted Nature and Darwinism. The weak and the intellectually inferior are breeding (and being imported) in mass numbers while the the strong and intellectually gifted are having fewer and fewer children. The math favors the weak and the dumb. They are infecting our body politic like a viral outbreak. Increasingly, we are VOTING for stupid people, with stupid ideas, and stupid governmental regulations. We are voluntarily killing-off our society through the overwhelming successes of Western Civilization and Capitalism.
I’m sorry to say that I believe there is nothing we can do about it … except TRY to forestall the coming collapse and DIE-OFF of tens of millions. TRY to forestall the collapse by electing conservative politicians. I fear all we can do is delay the inevitable grim reaping of our stupidity.
Tucker Carlson typifies the common “conservative” argument against socialism. He applauds the common altruism they both share and attempts to defend the national welfare state against the international extension of it. Your typical sophomoric ideologue can see the contradiction thus leaving only the old argument about socialism not working anywhere it’s been tried (“except Sweden” – Carlson) which although true doesn’t register in a student populous ignorant of history.
Socialism is not only inherently dysfunctional in practical terms but more importantly it is evil in that it is premised on coercion and state abrogation of natural rights (Life, Liberty, Free Speech, Property, private enterprise, self defense, etc). Socialists can’t allow individuals to engage in voluntary exchange within their jurisdiction because it might be contagious.
Many conservatives, extending their (usually Christian-based) personal moral virtue of altruism (self sacrifice) to the state is their own version of socialism and exists as the welfare / nanny state and cannot logically be defended while arguing against greater socialism.
This Christian cannot help that other Christians mistake Christ’s message as … Socialism. Nowhere, in a single word Christ uttered, suggested we surrender of our God-given gift of human autonomy and FREEDOM to a central government authority. Quite the contrary, Christ said he came NOT to reinforce Jewish LAW … but to transform our hearts and minds to becoming more compassionate people. People who understand the INTENT of the LAW and put it into practice … not just submitting to a man-made construct with no understanding. My GOD is the GOD of human FREEDOM, LIBERTY and PERSONAL responsibility. Christ does not snatch-away our FREE-Will … but rather he encourages and teaches us how to USE our FREE-will for the GOOD of ourselves and others.
If Christ was all about … Socialism … he would have constructed “institutions” for men to OBEY. He didn’t. He spoke to us as INDIVIDUALS. As People. As humans. Each one unique and independent. Each one of us FREE to listen or ignore his teachings. Christ never hijacked our FREE will. Christ never did, and never would subjugate our personal FREEDOM to a central government authority.
I honestly have no idea how Christians can so horribly misunderstand and misinterpret Christ’s teachings … but they have the FREE will to do so. I am just thankful that the Founding Fathers of America clearly understood Christ’s teachings. Thank you, God for allowing my birth into this GREAT nation.
john what most don’t realize is that the nordic countries are not socialist they are hybrids of socialism and capitalism, and that is why they don’t fail Sweden realized in the late 1980T’s that they were headed into problem s and so changed course business wise
Not quite sure who is the ignorant one in this interview. Both of them sound like they can’t put a logical thought together.
This moron made the fatal mistake; he went full retard.
