All that the Portland mayor needs to do to prevent violence is to ban protesting by masked protesters. If they are masked, it is impossible to identify who’s committing the crimes.
If they allow protesters to mask their faces, there will be a pitched battle in the street by antifa, and more violence against innocent bystanders like Andy Ngo.
If the mayor of Portland does not ban masked protestors, he is either a coward, or on the side of the street thugs causing the violence.

It is the mask on the hooligans that is the problem. The cameras all over the downtown would identify the perpetrators of violence a lot quicker if NO MASKS are allowed at these protests. You have to wonder why wearing a mask at a legal protest is tolerated, but then again, the mayor is a Socialist, so he is somewhat complicit with the street goons. I thought Oregon was home to a bunch of right-wing militias. Maybe they all need to go to town for the weekend. I am sure CNN would be all over it.

As you already alluded to, from the Portland mayor, to CNN, to the DNC itself, these aspiring street thugs are being absolutely manipulated to feel that they are righteous and thus above the law. Some of these fired-up ‘kids’ will ruin their own lives by participating in this organization and the left has demonstrated before that they will just walk away from them when their usefulness is dried up.
As I have stated before here, I think conservative leaders have done a brutally abysmal job of promoting the greatness and superiority of both capitalism and democracy to our youth these past many decades. As a primo example, I submit Andrew Scheer, who to me acts like he’s embarrassed to be a conservative. The left on the other hand have been programming ‘progressivism’ into our youth for a couple generations, now. And, groups like ANTIFA could not even exist in the USA if the GOP were actually manned by principled Republicans motivated to keep in check the excesses of the often hysterical left.
